Television Lost: Season 5

i think the hydrogen bomb was detonated by desmond when he turned the fail safe key.

No, all the electro-magnetism stored in the hatch was released when Des failed to turn the safe key.

Which caused it to pull in Oceanic 316

Rather cruel way for Daniel to die imo, also why is Daniel's surname different from his mums ?

I thought we were going to see the front of the statue in this episode :(

No, hes on about the second time when Locke forces them not to push the button but then he realises he was wrong, then Des turns the key and the hatch implodes, which H-bombs dont do so I dont think your right Vida

also I think you mean flight 815, 316 was the second plane and was ajira not oceanic

didn't daniel say the bomb would not explode like a conventional bomb if it was detonated in close proximity to the electromagnetic properties stored in various parts of the island.

I have no idea, but why would they connect the H-bomb to failsafe key?

There was a lot of hype in this thread about this episode and it was alright but not fantastic. Radzinski's pissing me off, I hope he dies. If Daniel's dead now, how're they going to do what he wanted to change things? What's weird is that if they do go on to create the hatch, then oceanic 815 will be pulled down and then wouldn't there be 2 Jacks and 2 Kates etc.? On the other hand, if the H-bomb goes off, that means no hatch, but also that the plane won't crash, which will coincide with their present because they're on the island. But then what about them getting to the island in the first instance?

Feck.

Destroy energy :wenger: by nuking it :wenger: and try to create a grandfather paradox. Faraday was an absolute mongoloid in this episode.

to nullify the electromagnetic properties.

hmmm i don't think the H-bomb has anything to do with the fail safe key. I actually think its used to release the electromagnetism if anything.

The h-bomb will be used to stop whatever Daniel wanted from happening. I reckon its "The Incident".

And yes, Oceanic 815 my bad.

We know Radzinski shoots himself in the Hatch when he works there with Kelvin.

yes but they wouldnt ever meet each other because they never did

Right OK....3 things

1. Why does Daniel speak with an American Accent when he is the son of 2 English people and went to Oxford?

2. Why would Jack or Kate want stop the flight crashing and nullify everything thats happened when Jack would be miserable and have never met Kate, who he clearly loves, and Kate would be going to Prison...

3. Are we assuming that the weird retarded state Daniel was in was the same state Desmond was in in The Constant?...I was, but just making sure I'm on the same page cos the whole show is baffling me now....

1. They're not english...they're from the island

2. Because jack is a twat and kate clearly didn't want to change the timeline

3. No

1. You would clearly pick up the same accent as your parent & peers...which in Daniels case are all English sounding - assuming he left the Island early in his life which he most likely did....Things like this annoy me (but not as much as the fake football team in Flashes Before Your Eyes)..

2. Possibly, but it seems to be going that way by next weeks promo..

3. Why?

I've forgotten most of the things that happened in seasons 1-3 because they were aired years ago, how do you guys remember all these things that happened in earlier episodes?

I just have a good memory, and I make sure to remember things because I know stuff can link to it in the future.

The name Radzinski is also quite easy to remember and therefore associate with the hatch and the brain stain on the ceiling.

I'm still confused with the whole time travel thing. If Daniel is dead then isnt that a paradox? How could he do all those things in the future if he was killed in the 1970s?

I know he said something like this is their present but that makes no sense to me.

The Daniel kiled in the 1970's was always killed then, however this is the Daniel from 2008 who died, which means he'd have had to grow up, go onto the island, time travel and then die.

In terms of island timeline it's

1977 - Daniel is killed
2007 - Daniel arrives on the freightor and eventually time travels

You need to see it in terms of Dan's timeline, which is:

- Daniel arrives on the island
- Time travels, goes to Ann Arbor
- Comes back and gets shot.

He had to do all those things in 2007 to actually get to 1977 to be killed, therefore it is in Daniel's present. It hasn't happened for him yet.

Hope that made sense.

Because that is his present. He'll still be born and if they don't change things he'll still grow up and go back in time and get killed.

interesting thing is that how did daniel get shot the "first time" when he wasn't even born ??

I guess the writers just figured it's harder to come up with any interesting plot twists if "whatever happened, happened".

That's the problem with introducing time travel. Even if they do it perfectly there are still inconsistencies that can't be explained logically.

Just think of (space-)time as being non-linear, i.e. not how you conventionally see it.

Fek.

Daniel was one of my favourite characters. I don't think he is dead though - its such a typical lost thing for someone to get shot and not die. We didn't hear his Mum say he was going to die (what a fecking bitch by the way) and he may still have to speak to Chang.

Its not over for Daniel yet!

I'm pretty sure he's dead unfortunately.

I think the writers did a great job integrating Daniel, Frank and Miles. They've become really likable characters.

TBH i was always wondering how they would end Lost and this does seem like the most logical step - making it so it never happened in the first place! Altho if that happens all the questions like "what lays in the shadow of the statue" and what the hell is with that island would never be known...

It wont end like this though, this little changeing the future story will only be around untill the finale season 6 will be something very different as i cant see there being a whole season of them having a normal life without the crash
