LOCAL VS FOREIGN BASED SUPPORTERS

In answer to all these arse fans and other idiots calling us United fans glory hunters. It is not called glory hunting it is called passion which gates of over 60,000 in the SECOND division are proof of. It is in the blood and will never leave not even if United where to end up in Division 3. I have supported United for 35 years and have had the bad times and the good times. :p

If someone moves away to another part of the country, would you expect them to start supporting the 'local' team to where they have moved to?

I would be interested to hear the views of the 'locals' on this thread.

Do they not have a right to have a life for themselves. Im not condoning all of there actions, but its a job and they have every right to wind down etc.

And please dont tell me they play for the love of it. If that was the case then why is there always complications over contract negotiations.

fergiesarmy: I think you should sort it out.

Who cares if we have a legion of 'new' supporters in Malaysia, Australia or Croydon.

They go out, buy shirts, pennies to the good old PLC means more change in SAFs pocket means....

another Veron?

when we pay upwards of £30 million plus another £10 million on wages for rio i dont want to hear about him being pissed up regualarly especially in the week before the derby and then he has a fecking stinker.

with those big wages comes a responsibility to the club, the manager and most importantly the fans. if they abuse that then they are abusing us!

I reckon some of those "new" supporters in Malaysia or Australia have been supporters longer than you have... :D

btw, the Red Cafe branch in Malaysia closed. Not enough people spending their ringgit there. Not surprising really, I'd rather watch United in a coffee shop with drinks for under 2 ringgit than go to the Red Cafe and spend 25 ringgit.

if you dont know then you never will, im not going to explain why sitting next to someone who has no understanding of the club, no knowledge of its history and doesnt know who half the players are could annoy someone.

If players arent allowed to drink the week before any game, they would never be drinking until the summer. Like I said, I dont condone them getting pissed all the time, but they have a life to. They dont live for you or us.

Its a job, that they are paid highly for.

Id also be very very surprised if all this drinking went on at the club, we all know how SAF treated McGrath etc. I doubt he would let it happen again.

I have no problem with them FA.

For me it's those who fit into the above category that start moaning when things start to go slightly wrong (like now) and saying that SAF should be sacked, and this player or that player is shit, are "embarrassed" when we lose, and show signs that their support for the club is wavering - and will totally disappear if we continue not winning all of the time that piss me off.

I know people who have supported United since birth almost and they are criticising. Not to the point of saying Fergie should be sacked - but constructive stuff, a lot of which I agree with. Their support isn't wavering one bit, but they're frustrated.

People are pissed off that the team isn't playing to its potential, and that players aren't being used correctly. Losing - or playing badly - when you know that the best possible team was put out, and that the players were being utilised correctly is not a problem imo. The problem is that at the moment, people can see where improvements can be made, and it isn't happening.

And it's wrong that long-term supporters can't offer constructive criticism without being labelled glory-hunters or whatever.

Sums it all up really.

No-one can take away from SAF what he's done. But this attitude that the man is more than human and never makes mistakes is crap. Otherwise, why didn't the players get knighthoods after 1999?

I'm a fan of Fergie. But I'm not one of the bleeding sad muppet brigade who think he's infallible.

There's a lot wrong at OT at the moment, and no-one is blameless.

Where have I said he should be sacked? In fact, I made a point in a previous thread somewhere of saying he should never be sacked.

But he should still take his share of responsibility for the problems we're having at the moment. If he got the credit when it was going well, it stands to reason that he has to shoulder the blame as well.

Why did Fergie sell Yorke? Was he right or wrong? Right according to you, because Fergie is never wrong. But by your standards, we should have kept Yorke because he didn't do too bad for us a couple of years ago.

And I'd see a doctor about your eyes if I was you - they seem to be constantly rolling.

I don't think that is what Livvie is getting at. She's just, rather obviously pointing out that we have a few 'issues' at the moment that need sorting out.

Fergie's the best option for us at the moment. I personally would only want McLaren in that seat.

I'm off to watch the Yids.

You really are incredibly stupid. You keep making up things and implying I've said them.

Why should Fergie have to come out and tell everyone he's wrong? It's something that needs working at behind the scenes, and things can be put right without having a public inquiry.

exactly so why does eveyone want to criticise him after all his achievments, nothing lasts forever and we are going through a transition but all people want to do is blame him for what are obviously piss poor performances from very very talented players.
