Liverpool 2024-25 | Inevitably winning a..."treble"

Going to be 11 points ahead of Man City on Sunday so a few injuries shouldn't matter too much. Could give Man City awful trimming on Sunday. When Sporting, Tottenham can score four goals against Pep's team how many will Liverpool score?

Got to say that was probably their best 90 minutes under Slot. They have had some strong halves, but first time I was really impressed by their dominance over a whole game. The scoreline flattered Real.

That said, Konate's injury could be a big blow given how good he's been this season, and the big drop in quality from him to Gomez or Quansah.

They don’t look unbeatable, let’s see where they’re at during the business end of the season. They’re not even as good as they were during their best under Klopp, and not as good as the City treble side.

It's hard to believe they're as good as the first few months suggest, they're likely just playing their best form of the season early on and the momentum will come to an end eventually.

However, they'll have such a giant lead at the top of the table it won't matter when their form drops off. 11 points ahead of City when they beat them on Sunday.

I still wouldn't be surprised if Arsenal stage a comeback of sorts, they're in somewhat of a misleading position with them having having had the most difficult fixtures + their players stupidly getting themselves sent off every other game and costing them points. You have to assume they won't keep going down to 10 men and they'll have a run of kinder fixtures to claw back some points.

Still, looking likely Liverpool win the league at this point.

They can look suspect though - they were sloppy at Soton at the weekend, an in form Top 6 side would have capitalized on that. Problem is there's nobody else pulling trees up so you get the feeling if City get beat at Anfield this week the league is a done deal.

First team ever to win the quadruple in November. Haha
Watch them win feck all. You heard it here first!
Don’t counter-jinx the jinx thread please.

We were never as good as Liverpool in Europe though.
Still early days in the season, but also don’t remember them being as bad as we are right now.

Not sure what the over reaction is about. They have always had these sort of victories in Europe over the last few years. Yet won 1 CL in 19 years.

GG to Liverpool.

One of the best sides on history.

Foregone conclusion in the league, might have to chuck some money on them

It's time we started to get used to the idea :(
Mark my words - will never happen

They may win a league but they are not repeating what only Sir Alex and Pep achieved, and they sure as hell are never doing quadruple

Those kinds of things require a level of excellense they do not have in them

Congrats Liverpool, an historical triumph - they should just do the parade now what’s the point in delaying the inevitable?

Not just them being good, feels like one of those seasons where everyone else is off it.

Depending on the opposition they can raise their game , currently they are miles better than any team in the league and also in Europe. Yes City and Madrid have fallen off a cliff , but that is not Liverpool's fault or concern.

Don't know about the quadruple but they will win multiple trophies, and if the nightmare came true they won everything given their form now it would not be a shock.

It is not a team of superstars , indeed looking at their squad on paper , it is not hugely impressive on a individual basis.

But they have a good manager , nearly all their players are comfortable on the ball , knows exactly what their job is , work rate off the charts , and a manic desire to win things.

How are we feeling about Liverpool running away with it?

I'm a bit 'meh', to be honest. We went through it 4-5 years ago, and we all came out okay, didn't we?

20 vs 20 isn't as pretty as 20 vs 18, but it's all about cycles. We'll get there again at some point.

I feel the same tbh. It will sting most definitely them matching us with 20. But they are more likely to get 21 before us

History tells us that only the bggest spenders can win a treble, and even then playing weaker sides in finals helps,as does not needing amazing points totals(95 or more points).

If they were as good as 19/20 season, they would have afew more points than they have now.

Who knew Klopp was holding them back so much
They most likely would have improved from last season had klopp stayed. That team was at the start of a rebuild a year ago, with a years worth of experience and afew signings they would be stronger regardless. The fact that slot went there and is only using klopps team,in a league that he is new to,yet he is doing so well,is a real eye opener.

We’re going to have to cover our faces with shame. These lot about to tie us 20-20 and they look the most likely to overtake us. Horrible feeling all those years of hard work from sir Alex thrown away just to let them get back on their perch

It's how it works though with United and Liverpool. They had 18 titles to our 7 in early 90s and watched us overtake them over next 20 years. Imagine how painful was that. No club is predestined to win all the time. Not the best feeling to witness it but it is what it is.

Yeah that’s true I guess when you put it like that. It’s all cycles. Just had wished we had more European titles in that time. 20-3 vs 20-6

We signed everyone for the idiot Ten Hag from his old side but we didn’t sign Gravenberch for €15-20m? We could have had him and Ugarte now and disposed of Casmeiro.

Yeah should've done better in CL definitely. 2004 was the chance when Porto knocked us out (Scholes 'offside' goal) to win another one. Barca in 2009 also, while Barca in 2011 were too good unfortunately.

I think he cost them about £40m. We could have had Gravenberch and Kudus for the price of Antony

I guaranteed Gravenberch would have been crap for us.

Oh shit. Didn’t realize he cost them €40m. Still if we got rid of Casmeiro this summer for €5m and his €15m wages we could have made up most of the cost.

Just like Gravenberch looked lost in a system and manager that didn't suit him, we'll have the same in our team. Already looking to be the case with Amad, Ugarte.
