Liverpool 2024-25 | Inevitably winning a..."treble"

If Liverpool don't win the league now, Liverpool fans will devastated!

Of fecking course they managed to win. When I saw that they were losing I just knew that they would come from behind to win.

Combination of VAR and sheer jamminess (as well as having a settled good squad) is proving silly. 2 dodgy GK moments and a pen when they were very poor, wish we could pull those rabbits out of the hat

They will win the league thats written by the higher ups. Pens to get results, City with a battle against the FA the rest of the league struggling to get results consistently. Plus the Premier league needs a different winner to stop City's dominanace of it and have it like other leagues in Europe keeps everyone happy while there updating there product which came out this week.
So it’s undeserving? Do you know how whiny that sounds. Or is it deserved.

Hopefully Salah fecks off in Jan and details their season. They're only up there because city and arsenal are shite this year.

Its more than just that. They've only lost 1 game this season which is phenomenal. If Amorim managed to go on a run like that with us, the majority of the caf would be wanking themselves silly and proclaiming we're back ala rio

This is just factually incorrect. The last team who had more than 31 points after 12 games were Liverpool in 19/20 when we had 11 wins and a draw. So we would've been top of the league in each of the last four seasons as well with these results and points total.

Yeah I'm terribly worried about them this season. Think they beat both Real tonight and City Sunday too, emphasising a real stranglehold on both leagues.

Finishing top of the CL table means feck all. That competition starts in March.

They do have 9 points more than Arsenal but Arsenal had worst schedule which one club had in years. First 12 games were City, Celski, Spurs, Newcastle and Villa away and Brighton, NFO and Liverpool at home. They played against all top 8 teams already. And mostly away.

Not under the new format it doesn't. The league is used as a seeding system for the knockout stages so If they finish first or second it means they will potentially get an easier route to the final.

Lazy narrative. After Sunday Liverpool will also have played each team in the top 8 bar Tottenham, and add United away to that which is never an easy game for us no matter how shit you are.

To think that slot was not even their first choice, yes he took over a well drilled club but he has still taken them above of what they were doing under klopp for the past few seasons

I’d hate to see your definition of easy if you don’t count some of your recent games at OT as “easy.”
Our record at Old Trafford coming into this season's game was draw, lost, lost in the last three visits.

Going back 10 years to December 2014, we played 13 games at Old Trafford: 6 losses, 4 draws and 2 wins. I don't think you'll find much grounds in the Premier League at which we've had a worse record over that timeframe.

What does it do for Klopp's legacy if / when the human thumb swans in and wins the title within a season?

It would be preferable if a manager left a good team for the next manager, no?

A more pragmatic approach will usually gain more points (Klopps more pragmatic seasons got us the most points as well) but I'd still prefer "day-to-day" entertainment over lifting a trophy on a personal level, and I loved Klopps approach to football, most of the time.

Whatever magic spell Slot put on Gravenberch should not be underrated, obviously, and he has done phenomenal in general but the spine of the team is still a Klopp team, and if anything, Klopp should be given additional credit doing most of the rebuild before he left.

Arsenal have dropped points at home to Brighton (2) and Liverpool (2) and away to Bournemouth (3), Newcastle (3), City (2), Chelsea (2).

Liverpool have Dropped points at home to Forest (3) and away to Arsenal (2)

Arsenal have gained the home match to Forest but lost the Brighton at home advantage.

I can see Liverpool wining away to Bournemouth but can't see them winning all 3 away to City, Chelsea and Newcastle.

So Arsenal can definitely close the gap going on those fixtures.

Then it will come down to can Arsenal win at Anfield.? ..."its up for grabs now"

Not much for me, sometimes the synergy between a group of players and the manager has just burned out a little bit - think that was the case for several players and don't think it was that much different from how things went down at Dortmund when he left there. You could see the likes of Salah were a bit fed up with him sometimes at the end of his tenure, he couldn't get the best out of Gravenberch like Slot is currently doing, ...

Also, given the amount of points City, Arsenal and Chelsea have already dropped by now, high 80s might be enough to win the title this season. That Klopp's teams weren't able to win a title when they got 90+ points is simply down to better opposition in a given year, so not sure it necessarily means that Slot has done a better domestic results wise. From an outcome perspective if he wins the title, sure, but points totals are a good indicator as well.

Exactly - the amount of long-serving mangers who have left squads in a bad place when leaving (Ferguson and Wenger spring to mind) means that it would add to his legacy I think, rather than detracting from it.

feck sake Slot, why aren't you a shit bald bastard

Have to say I'm shocked at how well Slot has done with them. Just so controlled and dominant in pretty much every game

I fecking hate how good these fecking cnuts are. It makes me genuinely sick.
Same. None of their outfield players ever seem to get injured. Only allisons injury prone and they've got a super solid no. 2.

I know this might be controversial but I feel klopp was holding back them. Slot is just keeping it simple and using the resources very well.

I'm at peace with their impending title win. I am just going to focus on City's failings and hope we can win a cup somehow.

We literally have TAA, Tsimikas, Elliott and Jota injured at the moment.

First team ever to win the quadruple in November. Haha
Watch them win feck all. You heard it here first!

That Konate injury didn't look good. But the way Liverpool's season is going, he'll be fine

Momentum is with them now.

Shhh! Let me be irrational dammit! But generally compared to us and our never ending injury crises your lot are generally luckier with injuries in the past few years. The only year I can remember where you lot had a United-esque season with injuries was the one where VVD was out for most of it
