Liverpool 2024-25 | Inevitably winning a..."treble"

Yeah, at this point I feel he either works it out and converts into a CB(and becomes top) or we're gonna try and ship him out next summer. He's just failed to impress in midfield

Less worried about Edu. He's got enough big performances under his belt already that we're all pretty confident he'll get to the level we need him to be. And his versatility makes him too useful to give up on him. Plus yeah, his energy and personality alone make us want to see him succeed

Not sure that's true? Pretty much everybody correctly rates Fede as one of the 3-5 best midfielders in the world these days?

Yep , it looks that way with Tchouameni.

Indeed about Camma, I have the same sensation, he had enough great games, he also everytime he is tried on sthg he is not accostume, playing great or bad, he gives it all.

Dunno about Fede, I think maybe it's his profile as a player, he is such a fierce and dinamic player when he does his DMs taks, yet at the same time with such a strike and pass on him when he releseas himself into some box to box menace, that swimming in between those roles I feel that he does not receive as much praise like even some of his mates, just a sensation. For sure he has established as one of the best milfielders of this generation, a gem of a player and great personality in him too.

Watched the game last night, Tottenham’s goal was particularly sweet.

Even better when it was revealed Liverpool’s left back was still off the pitch after the ‘yellow card’ incident.

Even even betterer was watching BERKnapp floundering to profess how it was DEFINITELY a second yellow card, despite the fact that it wassn’t according to the rules of the game. What a stain!

The goal was good and I have no problem with the player not having been sent off, you just have to defend properly, even down to 10 at the time, Konate should have done better against Solanke. Teams and fans have become more obsessed with finding excuses, especially now that everything is micro-analysed on social media etc.

Spurs were definitely the better team overall. Slot and Liverpool now need to work on better ways to break down the low block. Still expect Liverpool to progress to the final, but they need to improve in general from the last couple of games.

Can’t argue with any of that, especially the bolded.

Sky and the mainstream media are getting as bad as the social media crowd. Last night was one example where they are stirring without fact-checking, can also remember a presenter (a chappers type) recently asking if a managers time was up.

It’s pretty disgusting. And made worse by people who then amplify without thinking properly about either the subject or consequence of doing so.

I thought Big Dirge and Slot both handled the predicable post-match fishing questions well though - fair play to them. Both deserve a lot of credit for doing so.

Very balanced and mature, like it should be when discussing football.

Teams would do better in the long run if they try to learn and improved, rather than finding excuses.

It could have been a sent off yes, but refs are going to make mistakes in every direction, week in week out.

They'll probably get the league and then fizzle out in other competitions, the pace that they play with doesn't seem sustainable.
What do you mean by 'pace'? Cause their football isn't particularly intense; they're apparently last for distance run during matches in the EPL.

Maybe not the pace but just their playstyle seems unsustainable. Every game seems to have at least
1) two or more big decisions go their way
2) questionable challenges not even looked at
3) a bounce, ricochet or deflection fall right into their laps
4) opponents fecking up easy chances to score

I've never seen a team like it.

That's all entirely different from the post I was responding to though. Also, aren't they top in stats like xG and xGA as well? That sounds pretty sustainable.

Hasn't this narrative been peddled for the last 3 seasons though. At some point, you have to acknowledge that there is more than luck involved.

I never got why so many fans tend to never give credit to their rivals, it actually doesn't make sense in terms of achieving sthg if we actually beat our rivals.
Also big clubs on every traditional LEague around the globe complaining constantly about being perjudicated it's silly as fvck, no matter if it's Real, Barca, Inter, Milan, River, Boca etc etc...what goes around, comes around.

Looks like copypasta from RAWK.

League won just a matter of how many games to spare they'll win it by.

Should ease past Spursy in the league cup 2nd leg and then Newcastle in the final.

Who's good enough to stop them in the FA Cup and Champions league?

They are cup competitions, the best teams don't always come out on top in them. They seemed nailed on to win the Europa League last season until Atalanta had other ideas.

7 point lead with 17 games to go. They aren't exactly a juggernaut, but I don't think the chasing pack is up to much.

19/20 all over again in a sense. They may not be as imperious as they were that season, and they'll certainly drop more points, but they've built enough cushion and the pack of teams trying to chase them aren't going on winning runs of their own. City might, but they're probably too far behind at this point.

Although seeing how low Arsenal fans stooped to on Twitter after their cup defeat, I'm begrudgingly making peace (a.k.a. coping) with it even if that puts them at our equal in total titles. It's not like we're currently in a position to defend it anyways.

2019/2020 vibe feel to this atm.
I think we were further ahead by this point. Double digits on City in 2nd I believe. When football stopped we were six points away from being champions.

37 shots today (over 25 in Brentford’s box I think). Crazy that we needed two late goals. Arsenal have failed to gain any ground on us since we drew 3-3 with Newcastle (we’ve dropped points in 4 of our last 8).

If we win our next three (Ipswich (h), Bournemouth (a) & Everton (a - the game in hand) then we’d be in a great position.

Still think we need a LB. Tsimikas isn’t good enough and Robertson has dropped off massively.

The only way for that to happen would be a sudden massive pandemic. At this point 5 years ago, COVID was completely enveloping China. There is nothing on the scale of that that is happening right now.

Trump will accidentally trigger world war 3?

So many last minute winners again, annoying
Or deserved? As controversial as that is on this forum. We're competing with a pretty terrible Arsenal and even worse City team.

I can see why it's hated as a Utd fan but this Arsenal team is real disgrace of a title challenging team. So negative.

Liverpool are pretty much getting a free run at it this season.

Arsenal are a horrible team, I'd rather see Liverpool win it than them, horrible horrible football they don't deserve to win anything playing like that and they won't anyway.

There is no denying that Liverpool are winning the PL this season.
Well considering every other would be contender are fecking it up for themselves.. it's pretty simple for them this season.

Have they? Feels like the Brentford game was the first one to me. City, Arsenal and even us have probably gotten more last-minute winners than them. I even remember them losing points late on coz' of the Kelleher error against Newcastle. They've been winning their game before the 80th minute this season.

The Liverpool bum-licking will be nauseating.

Hence why I've already switched off to this season.

There’s been a few. Just no 90th min magical Origi type goals

Which ones? The latest match-winner I found before yesterday's goals is Salah's 83rd minute penalty away at Southampton.
My point. They are late as in second half. Strange since we do fall behind.
