Liverpool 2024-25 | Inevitably winning a..."treble"

To be honest, them exiting the cup is probably the best thing for their League prospects as they get some weekends off now. Don't think they'll be that arsed, as was evident from the lineup.

Thank frig the quadruple is off then!
We joke on here but it was looking worryingly ominous but an unexpected big defeat is always welcome.

They would have won the league regardless.

Their depth is actually fairly unimpressive, they’ve just been able to keep 9/10 starting field players healthy the entire season. Kelleher is a great backup GK, Jota and Jones both very good players as well who can come into the side without much drop off. Everybody else is a huge downgrade they just haven’t needed to use them much in the league or CL.

Delighted they lost.

Liverpool still haven't won a proper Treble.

They'll win the league this season as they're in a one-horse race and possibly the CL, but still no Treble.

Still behind United and Abu Dhabi's cheat machine.

If Pool aren’t one of the faves for UCL…then who is?

They have every chance of winning as much as any of the other big boys.

Did Slot get his domestic cups mixed up? From my recollection he seemed to go pretty strong in the Carabao, then plays a load of kids in the FA.

I looked at the line up Liverpool started with and I didn't recognise 2 of the starters and pretty much most of the bench may well have been the cleaning staff for all I know.

I dunno, I think Slot got arrogant and assumed a 2nd string would be too strong for the bottom placed team in the Championship. Apparently not!

I'm just glad that at last, something has gone wrong this season for those cnuts, it was getting ridiculous!

Seems to be an unwritten rule that as soon as "quadruple" is mentioned the team immediately comes a cropper against some second rate championship or league one side. I remember Wigan putting an end to City's quadruple a few years ago.

They could still do a treble of course but it's not going to be the treble. And frankly I dont think they'll win the Champions League anyway.

Yep, only the clowns who said Klopp going was them finishes can think they're not near the top of the favourites for Europe.
Or they've not noticed them winning every game, including v Madrid so far.

A fitting tribute for the 24th anniversary of the mickey mouse treble

They have Everton mid-week, played Spurs just a few days ago, and were playing a team that's last in the Championship today. He probably just thought they could get away with full rotation.

Imagine the meltdown if Arne wins nothing this season!? It won’t happen, but it would be glorious.

Their prospects in the league was going to be no different simply because of the lack of serious title challenger. They may not get a better chance to win the Quad than this season and Slot ruined that chance with his chosen line up today.

Yeah you could be right matey. I didn't realise they had the Moyes blue boys 2.0 coming up, makes sense to rest the match winners as he'll definitely have Everton primed for that. I always get the sense Moyes would sacrifice a litter of puppies for a big win vs Liverpool or United.

I don't think any serious fans ever expected us to win the fecking quadruple in Slot's first season. Top four, maybe a lesser cup, would have been a quite good first season.

Yet united fans are still telling us what a failure it is and how disappointing only winning the league would be.

It was on, though, a golden opportunity to do so.

You guys flunked it.

Think Pool will win the league, it's practically done already and another CL may follow (not much comp this season), but failed to win the Treble yet again.

And you will get it, but you could get so much more with the way you are playing.
Absolutely would be delighted with just the league, only one in the last 34 years. Slot learnt a big lesson yesterday. Expect a win at Everton this week and then to kick on. At most, one of the starting 11 from that game will start against Everton.

Tough League Cup final against a very capable team with a very good manager, but rightly Liverpool will be decent favourites.
Champions league still a longish shot in my opinion, I don't even think there is one stand out clear favourite, plenty still in with a chance.

Well done to Plymouth yesterday, totally deserved the win.

Who's saying that?

Oh, rest assured that all their supporters will definitely be arsed about this loss to Plymouth

Absolutely, be weird if a fan wasn't arsed about losing. Thankfully still lots to look forward to this season and to be optimistic about. Yesterday is what makes football brilliant, unfortunately for us, we were caught with our pants down yesterday.

As soon as I saw that squad for the Plymouth game I thought to myself, "What if Plymouth take the lead here? There are no 'game breakers' in this Liverpool squad" and sure enough, it happened. Hilarious.

Its an utter disaster, all liverpool fans should be embarrassed and ashamed.

It’s literally one (1) page ago.
Wasnt aware there's a poster named Top. So one poster said it which obviously is ridiculous and that means 'united fans' are saying it? Also I dont get the surprise with those kind of comments given its an United forum.

Liverpool were having basically a perfect season until yesterday. Still in for 3 trophies and let’s see if teams can stop them. Newcastle will be desperate to beat them after losing to us in a final 2 years ago but will have to be at their best. Don’t expect Arsenal to stop them from winning the title, especially if Liverpool beat Everton on Wednesday. Then there’s CL and teams aren’t exactly great. Barca are looking good but I wouldn’t trust the team that concedes many goals.

This chap and others would have slaughtered Ruben it he had of done this and lost. All very much "Masterful Gambit Sir"

A helpful media definitely aids with the feeling of stability at a club. The way Liverpool have managed their media the last ten years or so is something United should have been taking notes on.

Ferguson lost at home to York City in the 90s. He had a focus on the league, quite rightly.

It’s not good to lose to Plymouth but the FA Cup is the fourth priority at this point given a final already beckons.

Amorim is a strange comparison as he needs a cup run as part of his team’s development and his own credentials. Apples and oranges.

The league is already won. The league cup final is a tap in. The CL will be straight forward as Anfield is a fortress, other teams have a load of injuries+poor form. They really messed up by not playing a stronger team yesterday.

I'd love it - absolutely love it - if Everton got a result on Wednesday. The wheels fell off last season when we beat them in the Cup too.

I’m not surprised a Utd fan has a daft opinion on our season, doesn’t mean it shouldn’t get called out though.

You could frame it whichever way you want but no matter the result on Wednesday it wouldn’t be “wheels falling off”. Last week we beat the most in-form team in the league at their place and comfortably booked another Wembley trip. The game yesterday is no indicator for our actual team’s performance level, it featured zero or like one starter.

Not to mention we managed 1 win in our last 7 trips to Goodison. A draw wouldn’t even be that surprising, and would see us 7 points clear at the top. “Wheels falling off” for a draw away from home and an FA cup loss with an entirely different team is clutching at straws for the time being. But I get that you’ll take what you can get obviously, our loss yesterday was probably your highlight of the season so far ;)

I meant the other poster, not you. Also I dont think it shoudnt be called out, just that calling one posters' opinion United fans one is also a bit daft.

Most guys here already aknowledge you're having a great season, yet one or 2 posters who have a different opinion or are hoping you're fall of are the poblem.
