VVD is the best defender in world football.

If I wanted a player to defend for my life, it'd still be Godin, honestly. Chiellini would be up there too.

I'd put VVD in the top 10 I reckon, maybe even top 5 at a push, but there's lots of great CBs out there, despite what some say.

(I did really like VVD's shot vs PSG though :D)

I’d certainly not swap him for anyone. His overall impact on the defensive organisation of the team has been huge; his leadership skills are having a similar impact as the likes of John Terry, Jamie Carragher, and others of that mould whilst also having much more about him as an individual. Pace, power, passing, all the stuff you want. Now, with Gomez finally having completed his apprenticeship at right back, given the chance at centre back, he has a player next to him with extreme pace. There can’t be many back lines with as much pace as Liverpool?

I can understand why Liverpool fans are so happy with their defensive record after having to endure so many stupid errors during the last seasons. But their boasting reminds me of our defensive record in 2017 and the first months of season 17/18 when we were among the best in the world statistically wise. Our GD after 8 PL games last season was 21:2! We looked like a proper Mourinho team with a great defence...And then boom, we lost from Huddersfield.

It's way too early to say whether Liverpool have solved their defensive problems. Look at United now: 9 conceded goals after 6 games despite having the same players as last season when our defence looked the best in England.

Need Chelsea and City to have a great couple of weeks. Sick and tired of watching Liverpool win every game.

Mignolet will start tomorrow - happy with that.

It's a damn shame Brewster is injured, would've loved to see him get some first-team action.

They are having a similar start to City last season. We all know how that ended....

Problem is, City couldn't be catched after their crazy run ended. Now, even if we continue at this pace which I expect we don't, we'll be well within reaching distance for City and potentially Chelsea/other teams as well.

In Portuguese football we have this saying when everything feels to be going a teams way its called " a estrelinha" which means they have a little star ( I know it dont make too much sense in English) and from what I have seen of Liverpool I feel they have it right now and if they can carry on and when it gets tougher grind out some points it will be theirs to lose.

With that being said here is hoping im wrong

injuries, fatigue, and maybe some bad results against small teams that they should beat will stop Pool from winning the PL.

I don't think it is too early, we have the best defensive record this year of any team also we haven't conceeded a goal at Anfield since Febuary, our defensive problems have been sorted.

I explained though that the same was with United in 2017 and the start of 17/18 season. In 2017 up to September United had the best defensive record in Europe, not only in England. Things can change quickly.

It was season 16/17 when City started with 6 wins, not last season. Last season they had the same pts after 6 games as this season.

He said similar, not identical, which is correct.

I agree things can change quickly but our defence has massively improved and with the addition of Alisson i dont think it's short term.

Well, Chelsea and City themselves have had a similar start to City's start last season. And City's start wasn't that special as they had the same pts as United after 6 games.

Was lovely to see young Wilson celebrate his goal with a '5 times' salute after his team went through in the league cup last night. Good lad.

I think they acknowledge that by getting Fabinho and Keita. Those two hardly played this season and I think will be crucial when they need to rotate to keep things fresh

We also might be seeing Klopp take a different approach in regards to game management. On Saturday he took off Shaqiri at half-time despite the fact he was our best player & highly instrumental in us leading the match 3-0. Being able to bring on James Milner meant we were able to see the game out with the minimum of fuss. It also meant that both players had some good game time without the exertion of playing a full 90 minutes. It's something we weren't able to do last season which resulted in key players more often than not having to play the full match. It's possible that injuries throughout the season might hamper us - just as it does for other clubs - but if we're lucky on that score then I don't see fatigue as being a problem.

Could this be true?

Could be, the song was produced in 1945 and is likely to have been used in numerous settings over the years.

Liverpool adopted it after Gerry and the Pacemakers released their version in 1963. They presented Shankly with it during pre-season before it was publicly released.

Do Liverpool fans care about the Carabao cup? Phil Thompson came out saying Liverpool "need" to win a trophy this season, would this trophy shift the register at all?

To some extent I do, it would be nice to win it. At the end of the day winning cups is fun and all teams want to win them.

Would i be gutted if we went out to chelsea this evening? Not really, we are both going with our second teams and got one eye on the weekend fixture.

Not for me personally. The League cup and FA cup have fallen so far behind the PL and CL that they are nothing more than a good day out at Wembley and a bonus if you win it. Its unfortunate as I used to love watching the FA cup final back in the 70s, 80s and even the 90s. It was a special day in the football calendar. I wouldn't mind if the League Cup was binned tbh. There are already too many games in the season.

Sometimes a cup win can be a stepping stone to greater things but equally at other times it can lead to feck all.

If someone said to me now would you prefer to win tonight or Saturday in the PL I'd take the 3pts all day long. If it was an FA cup 1/4 or semi final and we weren't going to challenge for the league (or we had it sown up ) I might prefer to win the cup match.

I'd love for us to win the Carabao Cup and to beat chealse tonight continuing our winning streak across the board would be fantastic

But

I cant say I'd be devastated if we were knocked out tonight, that doesn't mean I'm not excited about tonight, I certainly am, its a good fixture, we are on an unbeaten run, playing a huge rival, I'm interested to see a few of our back up players feature tonight and see how they do because I think we have a good squad depth wise now so tonight is a good tester in seeing how good they are.

Meh, I don't think a League Cup does much for us personally. An FA Cup would be better.

Then again, one trophy is better than none right?

It's like having sex with a solid 6,5 - you probably won't say no if the opportunity presents itself but you won't be overly bothered if it didn't happen either.

Especially if you know it could prevent you from having sex with two of her friends who are both a 9.

Sure, you used to date 9’s. Once upon a time you were legendary for it, the guy who always left with the hottest girl. But it’s been a while now hasn’t it? Each time you go out to the club, you’re so sure that the old magic is coming back, and each night that 9 turns her nose up. Sometimes you get so close, but at the end of the night she always ends up walking out with someone else. Just last time around, you made it all the way to the taxi, but then another guy stepped in at the last minute.

So now you’re all ready, you’ve got a smart new shirt, your best aftershave on and a plush new haircut. The 9 keeps looking at you across the dance floor and everything is going just how you dreamed it. But when the last song plays, will you really be walking out with her, or will you be riding home alone yet again, wishing you hadn’t brushed off that 6.5 quite so easily?
