As I have said before, this title is for City to lose and not Liverpools to win

Seeing city continue to win all their games is agony though. I am desperate for them to drop points.

Palace winning at Newcastle last week pretty much made them safe, & pretty much put paid to them getting anything from today's game. I hope City knock Spurs out of the CL during the week. They'll have to put all their efforts into trying to qualify for it again next season, starting at The Etihad next weekend.

That game will be only about 60 hours after the CL game and I'm not sure Spurs have the depth to get a result there. They are highly likely to make the top 4 anyway, so they will give everything in the CL game.

Looking at the fixtures you would.
You'd always rather have it in your hands at this point in the season. They're looking at a 98 point seasons this year. They're more than capable of finishing the season winning all their games.

Why don't neutrals want Liverpool to win the league?

Because the media wankfest every single time their club gets close to winning anything is utterly unbearable (over the top, romantic nonsense) and combine that with a large part of their fanbase being utterly fecking mental and busy writing poems and shit whenever they come back against Burnley, you have the perfect combination for never wanting them to ever succeed.

Logically I should want them to win it over the plastic abomination that is City, but Liverpool are the most successful team ever at making it impossible to want them to win anything. They would be utterly unbearable.

Exactly what i was thinking. In all likelihood one of City and Liverpool will get 90+ points and not win the league! Insane - when did it happen last in the league?

Dunno if its every happened in England but I know Pep's Barca beat Pellegrini's Real 99 to 96 pts in 09-10. Probably the closest race to this one I can recall. That season is Spain it felt like dropping a single point after christmas would end a teams season.

We could have a situation where Liverpool win the league and still not be considered a better side than City. Can't see Liverpool dropping any more points till the end of the season, I think City will drop points somewhere. Could them getting 95 points without their best player (De Bruyne) for large chunks be as good as 100 with him?

I think Ole will play his strongest team against Everton (a) on the Sunday and Chelsea (h) the following Sunday. He will use the City game between these two games to rotate his team. Obviously he won't send his team to lose against City, so by Rotating the team, he can't have people accuse him of throwing the match.
So I can see Young, Rojo, Perrira , Bailey, Matic, mata, Lingard starting against City.
At the end of the day, the Chelsea game is a bigger game than the City game, for finishing in the Top 4.

The Glazers haven't been the problem, Ed Woodward has been the problem.

That's the same thing isn't it?

Ed is in place because they want him to be in place. He remains in place because they accept the job he has done so far.

You'll find yourself in a conflicting position should Spurs take points off City in the League then I presume . Many United supporters feel similarly.

Obviously there will be a wankfest it's been nearly 30 years since we won it. You don't think there would be something similar if Spurs won it?

You experienced the same thing when you were fighting it out with Leicester, everybody wanted them to win it. What if we were battling it out with Arsenal for the title who would you want it win it then?

I'm not nervous yet. I fully expect City to win all their remaining games. If they avoid defeat/draw against Spurs, it's City's.

No. Nowhere near to the same extent. Half the pundits on TV are your ex players (or more than that) who clearly want you to win it, we don't have that kind of exposure. The hype over your CL run was similarly vomit worthy.

Everybody wanted Leicester to win it because they were a plucky club who were doing the impossible, it's not the same as Liverpool competing, and the rhetoric reaches new levels of silliness when you're involved.

I'd want you to win it if it was Arsenal or Chelsea, that's it.

You can already smell all the sharpened pencils as journalists get ready to write their pieces on them. I actually don't mind Liverpool winning it, it's that media w**k-a-thon I dread.

I think the cnuts will do it now. Awful, awful bastards. The only solice I take from this is that I don’t really despise any of their players as I have with any other Liverpool team of years gone by. Just their absolute prick of a manager.

the greatest champions ever, a victory for proper football clubs

People's Champions - overcoming the adversity of Alberto Moreno being first choice LB for 2 seasons

it's gonna be grim

and Cheaty Mo - that he's a pretentious bigtime bellend got proved today surely

If City beat Spurs, United and Burnley, they will win the league. I see them drawing one of these games.

Whatever happens, what a season it has been for both clubs.

Well, yes. That snide little con-artist prick is up there...I just don’t despise them like I did the Fowler, Gerrard, Igor Biscan:lol: types.

What did good old Biscan ever do to anybody?

As far as I’m aware they are still chasing in this title race? Why do the media and them react with every game as if it’s a step closer and they’re ticking off another huge win towards the title? Martin Tyler literally said “another huge milestone passer towards a potential title, their 19th English football championship”. It really just means there’s less games to make a difference when another team has it in their hands.

The best scenario, which is extremely possible, would be for them and City to win all their remaining games and Liverpool to be sat there on 97 points with no matches left like ‘oh’.

In all honestly they’re incredibly unlucky City are so good as any other year this is a title year. They’ve been practically unbeatable this season.

Because City have both Spurs and United to play and Liverpool's remaining 4 games are built up of 3 cannon fodder and 1 semi hard game at home to Wolves.

You also mention the're unlucky City are so good, I think the reverse applies when it comes to luck. City are very unlucky to be behind Liverpool, simply because the luck Liverpool have had over the course of the season has never been seen before, it's literally a joke. Not to mention they haven't even been that good, they're worse attackingly than last year and their midfield is bang average. Doesn't make sense, really.

Either way whoever finishes second will be kicking themselves. Assuming both teams win most of their remaining games, the team finishing second could still have amassed 95+ points. That's almost as cruel as us losing a title on fecking goal difference.
