Macheda in 2009, Demba Ba in 2014... who's going to be the random striker that ends their dreams in 2019?

Depoitre/Mounie/Bobby Reid

Ah yes, it's safe to say that the loss against City acted as a catalyst for the switch in positions. I think that getting atleast a draw in that game would have demotivated that City team, but the win spurred them on.

One of the City players (forgot who it was) even admitted that they thought the league was gone before that.

Just had a thought.
Do Liverpool fans want Utd to progress into the Champions league?

Reason for this question. Utd go through to the semi finals. Indirectly sandwiched between those games would be the City game. OLE will surely rest players for those CL semi final games.
Why would we rest players in a champions League semi final?

And if we're resting players against City Livepool obviously don't want that which ties in well with them not wanting us to make the semi finals as well

I need to delete that thread

So Liverpool's "easy fixtures" don't seem to be a stroll as first thought a few weeks ago.

It's not possible to play high intense champion league games in midweek then raise your game again in the premier league a few days later.

They have Chelsea at home and Cardiff away (similar fixture to Fulham) after the quarter finals of the CL.

Then Newcastle away and Wolves at home after the semi finals of the CL.

Cardiff and Newcastle will be fighting for points to survive and now Wolves may have a Cup final to prepare for and what better game to practice their tactics againt to face City.

Now Liverpool fans will say City have the same issue, but Pep changes the front 3 players regularly and back four. Unlike Klopp who always plays the same 3 up top and same back 4 (When no injuries).

Got lucky today. They'll be dropping more points in the run in.

They will have a field day against Cardiff and I can't see this shite Chelsea side causing them any problems at anfield. And when it comes to Newcastle the penguin will just bend over like on that berba gif and hand them 3 points.

They should have had a field day today ? Cardiff are much better than Fulham.
How can Rafa gift Liverpool 3 points ? The same way Ole will gift City the 3 points. This is just a myth that managers will give their old club points.

So that's how many keeper F ups that have gone their way? Beyond joke.

its their year sadly, everything seems to go their way.

Oh man. It should have been Babel shouldn't it. Would have been wonderful. If not for them continuing to get awarded soft penalties. Their diving team is winning the league

My own opinion is that Newcastle will be safe by the time we play them and Wolves wont have anything to fight for.

For us to win 2 trophies we'd technically need 10 wins and 2 draws hard but not impossible. Oxlade coming back from injury should give us another threat.

Im pretty sure because of our early exits in the domestic cups, the players who have played the most matches for us have similar apps to the rotated City players.

I don't understand what you mean when you say 'wolves will have nothing to fight for'.
What have they been fighting for the last few weeks?

The thing is by the time we play Wolves their premier league position will probably have already been set in stone so maybe they will be more likely to rest players to avoid risking injury before the cup final should they make it there.

feck it, given City's clear & obvious corruption, I hope these twats win the league. At least they deserve it. City & PSG are everything that is wrong with modern football. Liverpool are a real (cnut of a) club at least.

Right, I'm off for a shame shower.

I think I’m gonna be sick.

VVD messed up today but, his reaction shows the type of character we're missing.

It happens, he goes and grabs the ball and moves on.

It reminded me of Keane when he scored the OG against Madrid in 2000. One second, he's on the ground, he spat in frustration, he grabbed the ball and marched back. No feeling sorry for themselves, plenty of time to win it.

We're lacking that steel

I want them both to not win equally much personally. I watch and hope they will both fail in all games and I will keep doing that.

Lots is going City's way as well. It'll be whoever gets the most luck over who deserves it by the looks of things

Is the Fulham goalkeeper a Liverpool supporter ?

Liverpool winning the league or Man City quadruple, either of these scenarios are getting more realistic by the day...

I blame Arrizabalaga....the little ****

Right, I'm off for a shame shower.

Im with you. Liverpool built their team without financial doping. They also promoted some youth in the process.

Keane has more steel in his poop than Van Dyke has in that massive head of his. He's a very good defender but the way some wax lyrical about him is ridiculous. He's had just over 1 season at a high level. Keane was our midfield general that led us in the domination of England and Europe. The only thing Van Dyke has won is pony scottish titles with Celtic.

I'd estimate our chances of winning as ~30%, not more. It's not in our hands and City is not willing to let go. Their squad depth is unreal. We cannot rotate our front 3 w/o significant quality loss, while they can rotate the attack completely with 50m+ bench warmers. This should make a difference with this busy schedule.
We need Ox to come back in his previous year's form, and Salah to overcome his confidence/insecurity issues.

and that's a disgustingly soft penalty, :( :(

is Fulham's GK on loan from the Dog & Duck here?

I have this awful feeling them and City will be in the CL final.

Could very well be Manchester vs Manchester. If you get past Barcelona, then you'll have us/Porto, either of which you'll at least be in with a good chance against.

I'm expecting a Barcelona vs City/Juve final, though.

You guys will steamroll Porto. And I personally think City are an awful match-up for Juventus. Don't think they're press resistant as a team/individuals to handle City's press. They'd need Ronaldo to be on top top form.

I was slightly optimistic for our tie with Barcelona, but we seem to be fading a bit and they're in top form with Messi looking imperious. Break's come at a good time for us.

I was trying to be polite to Porto, but yeah, we'll likely go through them like a fat kid through a burger.

Who knew the international break had its upsides, eh? :D It hasn't even started yet and I can't wait for it to be over.

He used to be highly rated at Sevilla I thought. Was surprised when they managed to loan him. Makes more sense now.

I think Barcelona will beat 3 English clubs on the way to winning this year's CL.

That will put to bed the ridiculous notion that Messi would struggle in the Premier League.

I think Salah needs to find a bit of form (by his high standards) for Liverpool to win the league. Otherwise City's depth will win out.

But Stoke are not playing in the champions league. Unless Messi does it on a cold windy night at the Britannia..

You're missing the point...

Of course he's shit in comparison to Keane. 99% of players are.

My point was, he's a leader for that team, he's a character! That today was a perfect example.

My point was, we need a character like him to elevate this squad. I was using Keane, Eric etc from times gone by.

1995/96 season was lost without Eric

What? is there anyone who actually question this? Don't tell me?

Most stonewall Pen the dippers have had all season. Did you not watch the game?

United dominant in Europe ? You only got to one final with Keane in the set-up. How is that domination ?

I think game fatigue could be City's biggest enemy in the run-in. Assuming they get past Spurs in the CL, they'll have something like 13 matches to play in a 6 week period. That's almost a game every 3 days. Even with their massive squad there still are a few imponderables that need to be taken into account. One of them being what effect will mental tiredness have on the players ? We've seen them switch off a few times this season when their focus has slipped. There's no guarantee it won't happen again, especially with the games coming thick & fast. We just have to try & keep the pressure on them.

Well yes, we were dominant in Europe in 1999. That was the whole point I made.

Dominate (verb)
- to have control or power over a place or person.
- the be the largest, most important, or most noticeable part of something

Gerrard helped Liverpool dominate Europe as well, and he would rightly be held in higher regard because of it.

I think game fatigue could be City's biggest enemy in the run-in.

They tend to do well with a lot of games in a short stretch. Their biggest weakness is their mental strength. A major characteristic of this City under Guardiola is that they tend to become shocked after a loss and tend to drop points in almost consecutive games. When they pick up again, they can go months and months winning every single game. After they dropped points to Crystal Palace last season, they then lost to Liverpool, drew against Burnley and lost to Wigan. They went on a run again and then lost to Liverpool twice and Man Utd one after the other.

They did the same this season losing against Chelsea, Leicester and Crystal Palace within a month and that's when Liverpool opened up their gap on top.

If they drop points against Spurs, Burnley or one of those relegation fighting teams, can see them dropping points against whatever teams they play next.
