Klopp on the 2016 Pogba quote:

"That’s a problem, whatever bulls*** you say, no one will forget it. It’s still kind of true. I couldn’t have imagined the world could have changed. £100m was a crazy number but since then the world changed. We signed the most expensive goalkeeper, bam bam, there will be a few nice transfers (from others). It’s not about pushing through my thoughts on that and not paying big money, if LFC aren’t successful we have to work.

To improve a squad like this costs money. So far it’s a really good year for us, pretty successful last year, still we need to replace players - Emre Can left, good business bringing Fabinho in. Shaqiri, we saw him play in the World Cup, I know Stoke were relegated but he had a lot of good games.

We don’t care what the world think, like Manchester United didn’t care what I thought.
Did I change my opinion? Yes. It's better to change your opinion than not have one at all."

"If I sit here in four years, I am pretty confident we will have one title," said Klopp, who has signed an initial three-year deal.

League finishes:
2015-16: 8th (60pts, 21 behind first) - joined partway through the season
2016-17: 4th (76pts, 17 behind first)
2017-18: 4th (75pts, 25 behind first)

This will be the fourth year.

Big season for Liverpool. Been runner-up in competitions three times since he joined. With the money spent they need to win something.

Old Bucktooth really does struggle to get through an interview without mentioning Manchester United. Obsessed.
tbf he was replying to a question directed at him about what he said when we signed Pogba

Fecking hell, soon more Scouse here than United supporters.
Yeah it's not. If one were to do a piechart this forum would look like:

10% United supporter
20% Scouse (or scouse support)
10% other oppo (including scouse pretending to be neutral)
5% banter
5% Trump thread
50% moan at Mourinho and the club

People shouldn't "worry" about Liverpool because what United and Liverpool do this year will be inconsequential to City steamrolling the league. Both clubs should focus on winning a trophy and improving on points totals.

I remember Mata missing a chance in the first half. The second half United did absolutely nothing. You can talk about us having no shots on target, but if we are behind and United have ten men behind the ball, we of course can’t afford to shoot at will, we have to be patient and probe, but United had ten men behind the ball and defended like their lifes depended on it. I’m not making excuses, you deserved to win, but United fans are acting like it was an utterly dominant win. Fact is, you scored from two long balls, then sat back and shut us down by allowing no space.
Posters like you are why it's so much fun to watch Liverpool fail .

Did you have Fort Minor in your head when putting together your estimates? :D 10% passion, 20% hate, 15% randoms to which we cannot relate, 5% banter, 50% blame, and a 100% reason to continue this daft forum game.

I remember saying Chelsea would walk the league after Mourinho's dominant return season in the Premier League - They came nowhere near. I'm not expecting City to fall that far from grace, but I can't see them hitting the heights they did last season (although I do still expect them to win the league).

Aye, with the squad he's assembled, there's not really much excuse. We're still short another attacking option, but there's not really a squad in the world that doesn't have its own issues.

Who’s bucktooth? If you’re referring to Klopp, he was asked the question:confused::confused::confused::confused:

I don't know what Fort Minor is. I like this forum for the diversity of opinion and there are some great oppo and scouse posters on here (yourself included) but there are many here just to wum and moan and gloat also which is a shame.

As for the United threads, they are mostly filled with negativity and moaning which makes discussion difficult and not particularly fun, which is a shame. But that's a topic for another thread.

You're right insofar as we can never really predict what will happen in football. But City have not only kept the same squad, but they've strengthened too. They've just added a premier league player of the year for depth!

They may not be as good as last year. But they will steamroll smaller sides because they will always be fresh because of their talent and depth. They will take a sizeable chunk of points off the top 6. Ironically United and Liverpool are the only sides who seem to be able to deal with City but we are too inconsistent against lower table teams to pick up requisite points to challenge.

I hope to be proven wrong (unless you win the title of course!).

That's just the first few pages of the thread.

Suggesting that your team will challenge for the title is as good as saying 'it's our year'.

We can’t win, can we? Fair enough since it’s a United forum, but if we say there’s no expectations we get laughed at for being Klopp defenders. With the money spent, and looking at our first XI, we should be challenging for the title. That’s not boom/bust or anything, but just straight facts. I don’t think for a second we’ll win it anyway, but we should be up there.

There will be some interesting friendlies coming up. Salah and Mane are back from holiday, probably we'll see them + Keita and Fabinho playing against decent opposition.

What bellend came up with idea for us to play Napoli in Dublin. Mental.

Fair play to Klopp. Got confronted with the quotes, laughs it away and says calls his own words bullshit!

As for Liverpool this season, they are more or less in exactly the same spot as us. Anything other than mounting a proper title challenge will be failure. Klopp could probably do with a trophy, too, just to get it out of the way, even if PL and CL are the only ones that really matter.

No it isn’t. That would be like saying “we’re going to win the league.”

Agreed.

Liverpool really should be challenging for the title after spending £180 million in a inside a year - plus another £50 million if/when they land Fekir. At least you're prepared to acknowledge this, unlike many of your scouse buddies.

Will you acknowledge that saying “we should be challenging for the league” isn’t the same as saying “next year is our year”?

I find these two statements not too dissimilar. Difficult enough to make a concrete distinction anyway.

So we can’t win can we. You want to laugh at Liverpool fans for saying we should compete for the title, then call them out when they don’t.

Liverpool manager does press conference during preseason and UTD fans are watching it... obsessed

What the actual feck are you on about? The internet is a GIF goldmine of ridiculous statements by your toothy German.

"wind", "dry pitch", "entire town in the penalty field", "United scored an offside goal", "only we tried to play football", "the ref was bad" etc.

No one actually watches your press conferences.

So you want everyone to praise your players, manager and club, but with none of the pressure that comes with it? Just sound like expensive cockneys to me. ;)

Well then I’m going to laugh at you when we don’t win the league, because you think it’s our year.

Ha!

Okay

I don't think Liverpool will win the league this year, but after spending the money they have, it's only fair to expect them to push United all the way to the line. With the latter coming out on top.

Don’t fancy City?

No, you don’t have to praise anything do do with Liverpool. Doesn’t mean I won’t try and offer a counter argument though if I disagree.

No, this is our year.
 Fair enough. For what it’s worth, it seems like it’s become an impossible task to retain the title now. I think the last time that a team won back to back titles was United in 2009.

Maybe City won’t win it.

Ok calm down.....didn't mean to annoy you so bad with the truth!

I am on the internet and haven't caught all those GIFs.....strange that.....

Yeah, you should really go back to RAWK. Clearly not meant for this place.

Says a Liverpool supporter on a United forum...

Anyway the cat who posted Klopp's retort supports Liverpool. So double shame-fail.

And you should encourage opposition supporters taking notice of your club. It means you're relevant again.

My initial response was in relation to this comment:

Old Bucktooth really does struggle to get through an interview without mentioning Manchester United. Obsessed.

I've watched the presser, and JK was asked a question from an American journalist about the Pogba transfer fee. Hence my point that he didn't bring UTD up in anyway.

I have come here for a sensible debate on a forum, i enjoy reading other team's supporters thoughts.

Can't exactly have a go at me for pointing out when someone has said something completely wrong though.

Take a chill.

Really? I had no idea. That's a positive for starters.

This City team is far and away the best in the league, I mean the gap between the competition is so large that them winning the title next season is practically a given. They might a well just give them the trophy right now, only a fool would bet against them anyway. The main danger for them is believing their own hype, allowing for complacency to take over.

Meanwhile United, with our relative lack of spending in this summers transfer market, can quietly ghost in unnoticed. I just have this feeling that we will pull it off.
