They lost, and City drew.

I was very surprised we won that "easily" at Molineux.
Wolves have been quite unpredictable this season when it comes to results. Beat Chelsea, Spurs (a) and took points off of us and city while losing to Cardiff and Huddersfield (latter at home I might add). Not to mention you guys winning and losing in the same fixture in a space of few weeks.

Hear they've been playing some entertaining football this season but I haven't watched their games so that part I can't tell you for sure.

So our next five league games are:

Brighton (a), Palace (h), Leicester (h), West Ham (a) & Bournemouth (h).

I think we have to win all of those if we want to have a shot at winning the league. After that we have Bayern at home a few days before a trip to Old Trafford (where we never do well) and a Merseyside Derby away at Everton.

I think we need City to lose another game somewhere too along the way. I wouldn't say it's beyond the realms of possibility that they go on some ridiculous winning run between now and May, so we can't really afford many mistakes.

I definitely see City dropping points again before Liverpool do tbh

I’d say that’s a pretty realistic outlook. Although I do think city will drop points with a couple of draws by the end of the season

City's next 5 league games (with cup games included): (League Cup v Burton H), Wolves H, Huddersfield A, (League Cup v Burton A), (FA Cup v Burnley H), Newcastle A, Arsenal H, Chelsea H

Liverpool have a major advantage here, ugh.

You mean the season before. Our January last year wasn't that bad from what I remember.

Your new year form under Klopp hasn't ever been rip-roaring.

2015-16:

2nd January - Lost 2-0 away to West Ham in the PL
5th January - Won 1-0 away to Stoke in the LC
8th January - Drew 2-2 away to Exeter in the FAC
13th January - Drew 3-3 at home to Arsenal in the PL
17th January - Lost 1-0 away to Manchester United in the PL
20th January - Won 3-0 away to Exeter in FAC
23rd January - Won 5-4 away to Norwich in the PL
26th January - Lost 1-0 at home to Stoke in the LC (went through on penalties)
30th January - Drew 0-0 at home to West Ham in the FAC
2nd February - Lost 2-0 away to Leicester in the PL
6th February - Drew 2-2 at home to Sunderland in the PL
9th February - Lost 2-1 away to West Ham in the FAC

Record = W3 D4 L5 (Wins came against Norwich, Exeter and Stoke, only one in the PL)

2016/17:

2nd January - Drew 2-2 away to Sunderland in the PL
8th January - Drew 0-0 at home to Plymouth in the FAC
11th January - Lost 1-0 away to Southampton in the LC
15th January - Drew 1-1 away to Manchester United in the PL
18th January - Won 1-0 away to Plymouth in the FAC
21st January - Lost 3-2 to Swansea at home in the PL
25th January - Lost 1-0 at home to Southampton in the LC
28th January - Lost 2-1 at home to Wolves in the FAC
31st January - Drew 1-1 at home to Chelsea in the PL
4th February - Lost 2-0 away to Hull City in the PL

Record = Won 1 D4 L5 (Win came against Plymouth in the FAC)

Last season was better, but you still conspired to lose at home to Swansea and get knocked out of the FA Cup by West Brom. Fail to win on Saturday and I'd be getting twitchy.

Maybe in terms of fixture congestion, but none of those league games are particularly scary on paper, 'cept maybe Chelsea (& Wolves to a lesser extent). They'll put 5+ past Huddersfield & a few past Newcastle/Arsenal without issue.

We were heavily prioritizing the CL last year. Lord knows what'll happen this year... Same team as last night versus Bayern? :D

We lost away to Swansea. We also beat City 4-3 and beat Everton so it wasn't a terrible month.

I think the number of games in those two seasons compared to this year will be the difference...hopefully. We've got five games between now and February 10th. Obviously a serious injury to a player like Salah or Van Dijk would be damaging so we'll wait and see what happens.

We really can't afford many mistakes though, which is ridiculous considering we've only dropped 9 points all season.

They're so damn inconsistent. Straight after beating us they went and lost to Palace at home.

Bit of a weird team. You get the feeling there's huge potential there but still finding their feet at the top level and adjusting to every game needing to be a battle (though the championship is no easy league). A few additions in certain areas and a bit more experience and they will definitely be a dangerous team in the next couple of seasons.

I am not a Klopp hater and his statements don't bother me a bit. Let's be honest, if Jose came up with the "wind excuse" people on here will be lapping it up as "trying to protect the players". However, I think your chance for the title is gone. A win or draw would have held you in good stead. Now, City have their believe back. They have the better manager and the better squad. I have seen it with us back in day, how we'll go on runs in situations like these and win the title. I see City doing the same with the lead only 4 points. Moving forward, Liverpool are more likely to drop silly points than City.

One defeat plus one draw from being relegated into second position with 17 matches remaining in the season.
What a disgraceful thread title!

Of course clubs like Spurs and Liverpool will justify their losers mentality. What's the point of adding 'depth' when your second team can't do shit in so called b grade tournaments?

I have never seen other big clubs of England doing it - Utd, Chelsea or City? They play to win it all.

Uhm, all teams do heavily rotate in the first rounds of the FA cup and league cup until they suddenly are in the quarters/semi, and usually even then. Don't tell me you haven't seen Fergie do the same, because I remember teams he put out that had no right to win football matches (yet they usually did). I also remember squad players trusted in the cup final such as Saha instead of Van Niestelroy We can't just be result oriented in our analysis, every top 6 teams heavily rotate, and did so again this year, and if United had met Wolves are you sure Ole would have picked differently?

That was my point. Liverpool spent so much this year for depth but still managed to put out excuses about 'prioritzing the league'. Spurs don't have any depth atm so can't really comment on that but it really feels weird that clubs who haven't had a taste of victory for some time now just disregard a genuine chance of winning silverware.

And the excuses of league prioritization are understandable when there are crunch games upcoming with an FA cup tie sandwiched in between. Not something which someone can foresee in January and just give up on the competition.

What part of the above are you struggling to comprehend?

Winning the Europa league gives you CL qualification :lol::lol:

That and top 4 are interchangeable, and we had to win the same amount of matches for both. Focusing on both makes no sense because they have the same outcome.

The FA cup and League are not interchangeable, binning the FA cup in January does not give you an edge in the league. It's 6 bloody games, where you'll face at most 2 top teams.

Have to admit, the standard of wining the league is so high now. Dropping 5 or 6 points in last 17 games could cost either side the title.
It all comes down to Liverpool. I think they can still drop 8 points and still win the title.

Everything.

Affixing the word "Champions" with the team that last won it two years before Mo Salah was born, merely because it led (leads) the table at the turn of the year, is pretty darn daft.

You need to process and accept this undeniable fact lest it consumes you, my friend.

Going out of the FA Cup might help them in the long run and City will suffer for chasing a quadruple which is close to impossible because of fixture congestion, but it’s such a Liverpool way of trying to win one trophy at the expense of being shit in everything else and has only ever worked once for them over the many years of trying it.

They're fecking shite. Ole will eat them in Feb.

Or rather they're shite compared to the hype about them. City made them a hoofball side.

Great result for Liverpool tbf. Its puts them in pole position for the league and CL double.

There's probably quite a few as there is nothing to "get". Much like your post it's a statement not a joke,

At least you could tell my comment was tongue in cheek by the use of the white text

And what statement is that exactly?

I hadn't noticed the white text until you just mentioned it.

The Fa Cup has lost it’s magic. Gerrard didn’t seem to think so when he smashed home that volley against West Ham.
