We can and we have.

You've never been this far ahead have you?

I hope every other premier league side knows its all hands on deck to help City do the unlikely. I'm sure Arsenal will do our part in a few weeks time at the Etihad by gifting City the 3 points in a 4-0 loss.

It’s only four points, that’s nothing at this stage.

It would be a failure if Liverpool fail to win the title from here. I've read 3 or 4 different stats setting out how every side who has gotten their points total by this stage has won the league and how most sides who are top by Christmas go on to win the league.

Surely they can't lose it from here?

Thats not really fair, I think if they get over 90 points and don't win it, its far from a failure. Losing the league from a winning position is not always a failure imho... It's a 4 point lead with 17 games to go, wouldn't be the first time a team had that lead with over 10 games to go and lost.

So Liverpool hit the post and it bounces out. City hit the post and it goes in. Kompany goes in 2 footed against anyone in the league and he gets a red card, against Liverpool however, its yellow. The ball is all but leather skin over the line and so it doesnt count. Crosses that deflect of a defender that would normally go out for a corner, instead lands right into the goalkeepers hands instead.

I think its fair to say, should we win the league, its not down to luck after all.

It's a false equivalency to suggest that Liverpool hitting the post = City hitting the post. Sane's finish was better. It's the fine margins that wins you titles.

Hitting the post has nothing to do with luck and everthing to do with poor finishing.

Kompany's challenge on Salah was a little reckless, but the outrageous playacting that followed was just plain cheating considering he wasn't even touched. Lovren offered a similarly reckless challenge only moments before. He also received a yellow card.

Now you're just reaching.

I've lost count of how many times Liverpool have been fortunate this season. It's high time it went the other way.

Played too narrow at the end. City outclassed them though.

City cant deal with crosses well and liverpool should have exploited that but Shaqiri coming on meant they would go through the middle time and time again.

It was 7 points though so of course it would be a failure to lose from that position.

A Liverpool fan actually said it was City's to lose

It's fair to say that you're talking nonsense.

Another Liverpool fan. This place is absolutely crawling with them.

The amount of times salah dives and gets away with it is amazing. How does he keep getting away with it. He’s the media darling.

Was great to see them getting beat.

Lovren two days ago: “we can be the new invincibles” joker

Liverpool were never going to win the league.

The only reason some people are delusional is cos citeh have been struggling with injuries this season.

Liverpool are more likely to finish 3rd imo cos they dont have the depth, particularly at the back.

On paper the title is Liverpool's to lose because they are still 4 points ahead with most of their toughest fixtures out of the way, but momentum is a funny business. Throughout the season they rode their early season luck to form but now their unbeaten train has halted, I am now interested to see how this 18/19 side handles pressure with expectations. If they don't let this setback affect them and they can keep this lead up until after they visit OT then I reckon the title is theirs unless they just shit the bed toward the end of the season 13/14 style.

Yeah, sounds like the opposite of how you won the Everton match. Give it up.

Give what up? that wasnt a cross, it was a mis hit shot by Van Dijk which the keeper messed up and gifted to Origi? I get you trying to sound clever, I do, but turn your Bieber music off in the background because its messing with your brain lad.

Kind of irrelevant as none of those sides would’ve had an opponent anywhere near as good as Guardiola’s City breathing down their necks.

Liverpool’s unbeaten run would’ve been over in the autumn if City had a player on the field who could hit the target from a penalty.

It’s swings and roundabouts as the English say.

What makes you say such an awful thing ?

Was only checking! I've heard that 10 points gap thing quite a bit - all of them from pool fans. I guess, you're factually right - that they were 10 points ahead for 1 day (until City and Spurs played their games) ...

Good one. Acting like you weren't incredibly fortunate to even get the 3 points against Evetton just like you were unlucky not to get 1 today. That's really cute, but at least you got more points in how your luck evened out than it might have if the circumstances in each instance had reversed.

If you're lucky you won't slip up this time around, little guy.

Not irrelevant given Liverpool's record and 7 point lead over that Guardiola team prior to yesterday.

It's pretty simple. Liverpool had a huge lead. They still have a solid lead. If they don't win the league this year they'll definitely be kicking themselves for a long time. They'd re favourites now.

Before that if feckin sturridge didnt hit a wonder goal with the last kick of the game vs us. Not seen him do anything since.

I think it's fair to say you're panicking because you know how this will end. It'll soon be 30 years.

I'm not a Liverpool fan:wenger:and they won't win it.

I think that's a red card for Kompany about 1 time in 50. It just isn't quite wild enough & doesn't make enough contact.

On their own ground, in a really huge game, it just isn't going to happen. Well, not unless. Michael Oliver is on the job or Lovren is already off & so on.

Clutching at straws for me, sorry.

And it's a football incident, and an honest enough attempt to get the ball a little bit first, at least.

I'm now starting to think we might actually do it. I had doubts, but I think we are on the same level as them, you can't legislate for a plonker like Lovren. If we had Gomez in there imo we get a result; He's back soon. City will have to win at least 16 of their remaiing matches to beat us to the title. I can only see us losing to UTD possibly. But we'll see.

Well... City are going through a rough patch.. had a makeshift LB and didn't have KDB.. I still think they are comfortably better than Liverpool.. but confidence/momentum counts for a lot.. and Liverpool have that on their side.

It was certainly a cracking game

A battle

City deserved it, we just weren’t quite there

There wasn’t all that much in it chances wise between the two, City were just more clinical

We had the Mane opportunity, ball being cleared off the line and a great save from the keeper with Salahs chance

They were better but with some chances during the game that score could have still gone either way.

Disappointing, but hardly a major upset, nobody “expects” to go to City and get a result, although I was hopeful.

Certainly makes for an even more entertaining Title race for the neutrals
