Best thing is you could see how much Salah, VVD and Klopp wanted it.

They're still winning this by 15 points.

Klopp got it wrong today, should have gone for it like he did last season in the Champions League. They ended up losing anyway, just seemed odd going for the defensive approach.

I’d agree with that, but it’s hard to do so when your midfield is lacking on the passing front.

Why the feck is Klopp shaking everyone’s hand and pounding his chest with an *im hard as feck* look on his face? He’s so fecking cringe, his team bottled it hard tonight.

Bottled it? I know a Spurs fan is probably an expert on bottling , but we simply lost to the better team first league defeat this season. Losing to Wolves when you had the chance to put the pressure on is the definition of bottlejob

Herr Bridesmaid has just taken his first step down the aisle

They’ve lost tonight but they aren’t going away. Not many teams will have City desperately defending at home like Liverpool did tonight at times.

City need a fully fit De Bruyne back & firing on all cylinders ASAP.

Why are people talking as if City still have a chance?

Liverpool have already won the league. Just read the title of the thread.

So how come this midfielder who is meant to be 5 times (la) better than Pogna didn't play tonight?

So you bottled it? Pressure on to get 3 points and you choked?

I would love it if we hammered Liverpool at Old Trafford and City bypass them after that. One can dream

Are you trying to be ironic?

Just 1.3 cm away from going in front.

Here is how close it was

How they respond to defeat will determine where the title goes. If they suffer from hangover or not will be very interesting.

Hardly choked we lost a contested game, more than Spurs do when they play City. So you've bottled it 5 times this season is that how it works?

As mentioned before, the real glaring issue for them is midfield. It's fecking woeful - epitomised by Jordan Henderson.

This is something I've noticed watching them, but they don't actually really go through the midfield at all. I know, quick, direct counter attacks are their thing, but their central midfielders seem to do sweet feck all in pretty much every match. They offer little to nothing defensively, and are very frequently completely bypassed offensively.

It might be a quality issue (although with the money spent bringing in Ox, Wijnaldum, Keita and Fabinho it shouldn't be), but for all the "hoofball" jibes aimed our way, Liverpool are rather fond of a long ball themselves.

I won't be the least bit surprised if City stumble after this and Liverpool don't. City needed to win by TKO tonight to really put some worry into Liverpool. Instead they won by split decision. A result, yes, but not the type the will linger in Liverpool's mind and cause more stumbles. Liverpool have a very easy run of fixtures until our derby in late February, they can easily go on another run and get push their lead back up. City, on the other hand, will face Arsenal and Chelsea at home, as well as Everton away.

The feck are you on about? It's a scoreline, not judging criteria. City won and should have scored more.

Isn't the margin of error 3mm? In which case there's literally no argument that the technology was wrong and they can all feck off.

Everton and Arsenal are crap. And Chelsea can't score.

Obviously you don't want us to win the title. But, United fan dreaming about City going top , really? Surely you'd want Spurs/Chelsea

Gap between Liverpool and City in football terms is now even smaller.....

If I was a Liverpool fan I’d be livid at Klopp and selection of Hendo and keeping him on all game. He didn’t let that team off the leash and it cost him big time.

Coming to the Etihad and getting hammered would have deflated them considerably. I don't think they'll be that bothered by the manner of this. It's a loss, yes, but it won't *feel* like a heavy defeat. They could also just as easily have had 2-3 more goals. City won, yes, but it was basically a 50-50. Bad result but not a bad performance for Liverpool, unfortunately, and they will be OK with that. Not exactly rocket science, keep up.

As long as Liverpool don't win the league, I'm fine with anyone winning league except Liverpool.

Weird analogy.

I guarantee you this will linger in Liverpools mind. Up until tonight they were unbeaten. The confidence that would give you would be incredible and it automatically puts teams on the backfoot mentally when they play you. If you want to use boxing analogies, tonight they got cut. The whole premier league saw they got cut and they will still get a hell of alot of shots in, but its a demonstration that they're not unbeatable. Think Rocky 4
