Am I the only United fan rooting for them over City?

I’ve got news for you, buddy, and don’t take this personally or the wrong way but... you’re not a genuine United fan with that kind of mentality. The Scouse scum are our eternal enemy, the ones who ridiculed us for years and years until Ferguson and the many great teams he built knocked them firmly off their perch. You can go do one if you want that vermin to win the title ahead of a human rights-abusing, state-sponsored vanity project in City who, quite frankly, nobody gives a bollocks about from a football perspective.

Also thinking the same
Am I the only United fan rooting for them over City? If City win then they'll continue to dominate the league for years while we get our act together. It'll be better if everyone wins one title each until we're back in contention.

Joel Matip (Broken Collarbone, 6 weeks)
Joe Gomez (Fractured Leg, 6 weeks)
Alex Oxlade Chamberlain (Multiple Knee Ligament Damage, 1 year)

As well as injuries to TAA, Milner, Henderson, Lallana, Lovren and Mane. I would think its a bit unfair to say we have been lucky injury wise.
Having Debryne, Augero, David Silva and Fernindino out is the equivalent to Liverpool having 4 of their best players out.
Imagine Salah not kicking a ball this season.
Mane out.
VvD out
And maybe Robinson ?

There is no Utd fan living in this country (England) who is over 37 or 38 wants that that scum to win it.
Anyone under that age, I have no idea how they think.

City looked incapable of dropping any point at one point in the season. They have dropped a fair few in succession now.

Liverpool can have a dry spell of 3-4 matches and the table can look dramatically different than now.

I hate thread titles that declare winners when half the season still remains. And especially when it is them.

I'm surprised honestly that it is such a big thing when the alternative is fecking city.

I'd much rather you won another title than fecking Everton.

Where on Earth have I started an I told you so thread.

You owe me an apology young man.

Every single thread you’ve started since Mourinho got the elbow crowbars in a reference to the fact you didn’t want him hired and/or takes a dig at the fans who dared get behind him, however briefly. Usually both boxes ticked.

With respect, you don’t know how absolutely disgusting your fans are to be around.

We simply have to win the Champions League if these win the PL.
That’s what happened back in 1968. City won the old 1st Division and United took all the plaudits by winning The European Cup. I’m sure the only people who knew that city won the league back the were in fact City supporters as it was completely over shadowed by that famous night at Wembley.

One of the differences for me is that nobody really takes City seriously. They are just a play thing for a corrupt organisation/government with massive human right issues. As terrible as that is, the club itself isn't particularly important and anything they win will always have a mental asterisk next to it saying they only won it because of the owners.

Whereas if you guys win, you'll have actually deserved it *spits*

Unless you are a Manchester-based red, City are irrelevant.

I think with these things, you think about your community and how you will need to interact with rival fans and things like that. For London reds like myself, nobody knows any City fans. They don’t really have any outside Manchester. They aren’t real!

I’ve started one thread since he’s gone that speaks about how optimistic I am for United. One thread.

Here it is

Absolutely no digs at anyone at all.

I thought the same at first too, but then I viewed it as this thread jinxing them, which I hope comes true.

Everything is going their way right now: referee decisons and injuries to City. I guess some people were worried that City would destroy the competition and decided to help Liverpool make it a contest. 90% of the 50/50 situations have been decided in their favour. Pens for Spurs, City and Watford not given, soft pens for Liverpool given, an illegitimate goal for Wolves against City given, etc.

If City win the next 2 games they will have a good chance to stop Liverpool. It is not likely to happen though with so many injuries and players out of form. Still, what is happening to City now might happen to Liverpool later in the season. We were 8 pts clear off City in 2012 with just 5 games to play and lost. It's a funny old game.

I don't like Liverpool and would hate them to win it, but you have to give credit when due.
They have bought really well and are playing attractive football. I remember Fergie saying in his book that you need 2 utility players in your squad. Players that will fit into several different positions when you need them.

I think they bought one in Fabinho. They also went out and bought the best CB in the business in Van Dyke. They picked up Shaquiri for buttons. Keita was brought in, and a very good goalkeeper also. Klopp went out and got the players he wanted and is reaping the rewards now. He proved that City could be caught up, with spending money on the right players.

If we are to catch up with the top 4 teams we need to do the same. We must prove that we are truly, the biggest club in the world and not be afraid to invest. Others will keep doing this and will pull further away from us if we don't.

This. The table is not reflective right now and City will win the league at a canter once our luck runs out and they get their players fit.

While the table doesn't quite reflect the performances of both teams (xG stats after 19 games say City should have been 1st), City can't win the league at a canter anymore. If they win it, it will be on GD or with just 1-2 pts. If they lose from Liverpool in 4 days though, that will be that.

Big fecking “I told you so” @ assorted gimps mocking my pre-season opinion that Liverpool were City’s main contenders for the title. If only it wasn’t so depressing to be proven right :(
Were there actually people who didn’t think they’d be Cities main rivals for the title?

Guess everyone is just assuming City are beating Southampton?

What's that now? :wenger:

We need to ensure we don't lose on Thursday. Will kill our momentum and bring in doubt against 'easier' teams. A draw would be great.

Nah. We opened up a gap of 7 points in about 3 games. With 18 games to play, everyone's still a chance. I mean, I obviously hope you're right, but having watched sport for a few years, I know anything can happen.

When United aren't winning the title, it would be nice if Liverpool wins it.

They have nice players and play some good football.

Not to sound like someone from Bluemoon, but the only Utd fan I know who wants Liverpool win the league is a mate of a mate, and I'm pretty sure he's only saying it because he thinks it's what a true Utd fan would want, but he's just hilariously mistaken.

I hate the feckers but they’re the best team in the league and deserve to be top right now.

I won’t turn Scouse and bitter if/when they win the league because football is cyclical, it was always going to happen. I am more concerned about us and our future than the bin dippers.

Don’t think I am honestly. Feel pretty strongly about those comparisons and have for a couple of seasons now.
Smalling is comfortably better than Matip, Lingard surpassed Lallana some time ago and Oxlade-Chamberlain's no better out wide than our current makeshift options.

I guess it will just take time for others to see

This. If Pool go and win it which is almost will happen, then fine I hate that but they haven't won this in 28 years or something so it was always going to happen somewhere in time and tbf they deserve it though, what I hope is us to be back to challenge them instead of wishing Citeh to do it.

Exactly. It will give our owners and board and huge kick up the arse.

I reckon it’s why Fergie is involved behind the scenes again. He’s watched Liverpool dominate us at Anfield a few weeks ago and said “feck this, we need to do something.”

And you're a Liverpool supporter ...really
