Liverpool - 2017/18

They have to get their first. Knocked out in Qualifiers is my prediction

If they got knocked out it will likely benefit them massively in the league. Knocked out from group stage like Spurs last year will be the best result.

I could be wrong but I think we're guaranteed a place in the Europa League if we fail to make it to the CL.

Despite us taking a piss, their squad is a good squad. They will push for top 3 in the league easily, will finish top 2 in CL group. Its the other domestic cups that going to provide comedy gold. That being said, lets don't underestimate klopp. He isn't anywhere near as bad as we caftards like to think nor is he second coming of jesus as per our friends at the RAWK neither. He is good and their cnut of a squad are the ultimate game raisers too.

Looking forward to fight it out with them again.

You would never think we finished two places above Man Utd reading this thread

They fell to bits at Christmas and New Year when they had to juggle games more frequently. They'll struggle in the league this year and I think they have a tough draw in the Champions League too due to seeding.

Shall we wait and see who they sign first? Why all of a sudden are they going to be so bad?

Revisionism at its finest. Our results from December 14th 'till February 14th: W5 D3 L2, with two of those draws against Chelsea and United. Wins against Tottenham, City and Everton amongst those games as well. 18/27 points. Even if you only take the three games around Christmas and New Year, we managed 7/9 against Stoke, City and Sunderland.

Not to mention we missed Coutinho, Mane and Matip for extended periods during that timespan.

I know, it's crazy isn't it, how on earth did you still manage to feck up so many transfer approaches?

You also lost to Wolves, Southampton (twice), Swansea, Hull, dropped points to Sunderland and scraped past the mighty Plymouth at the second time of asking.

Fixtures I feel you would had a far easier time of coming through had you the luxury of a week to prepare like you had for most of the season.

I think you'll struggle. You think you won't. Guess we'll see who's right this time next year.

So we supposedly bid and the first, initial offer we made wasn't enough for the selling club, is that fecking up transfer approaches?

Did you read the article, it seems that you are bidding for players in a backwards fashion. First player you rated up to 20m but refused to go to 30m, the next you started at 30m but wouldn't go to 40m and then moved onto another player and bid 40m but wouldn't go to 50m.

If the first player you approached was deemed your first choice why would you not bid the amount you were happy to bid on your second choice? Ditto the third?

Fair point and I've wondered about that myself as well. I honestly don't have an explanation for that, but maybe we're trying to lowball them into agreeing a deal or something like that. I'm not worried just yet since we're haggling over a few million quid, so I still think the deal for Salah will go through. It's when we definitely pull out of such deals and start looking for cheaper alternatives, even though they're not our first or second choices, that I'll start to get uncomfortable or would lable our transfer window as a failure.

I think our first choices, in order of priority, were:
CB - Van Dijk (now looking for alternatives)
Winger - Salah (looks like it'll get done)
CDM - Keita (not gonna happen imo, hence links with Milinkovic-Savic and others)
LB - Sessegnon (won't happen, don't really know what will happen next)
Striker - ??? (many links but nothing concrete yet)

For all the links with Keita at the end of the season, I have to admit I'm massively disappointed there haven't been any updates on those links, except for RB Leipzig saying they don't want to sell. It looked like he was our top priority but now it seems like a dead end, and that's worrying. However, I don't think we've fecked up anything this transfer window except for the Van Dijk transfer, which was shambolic, happy to admit that. There's nothing wrong with trying to get your top choices (Salah) for the lowest price available, as long as the deals get done in the end, imo.

Fenway are messing about until the Coutinho deal gets done, innit.

Never change, liverpool fans.

Stopped reading when you said you guys can do a double right there. Lol

You took what i said literally . The gist of the message was that nothing would surprise me. Very good or very poor. Look at the Liverpool team that won in Istanbul. I fI would have said they will win the Champions League you would have laughed at me. What did they do? Win the Champions League. You never know do you?

Actually i got the point, was just taking a piss bro.. Cheers :D
Any nee development on the transfer front for you guys lately? Whole EPL seems so quiet all of a sudden.

And who ended up excited about Wijnaldum and Matip in the end? Both has average seasons if you ask me. Mane was great when he played, I'll give you that - but the two others and not anywhere near good enough for a team chasing trophies. Wijnaldum shows up every fifth game (often with a goal to cover his lacking ability) and Matip is not the best reader of the game, prone to important lapses of concentration and poor positioning.
So many fans seem to watch matches without a clue as to what is going on, unless it's showy or results in a goal. Depressingly they then spout off on what they failed to see.

We fell to pieces when Mane went to the AFCON, then came back and was injured for the rest of season, allied to injuries during this period to virtually all of top players (Coutinho, Lallana, Firmino, Matip, Henderson). With a squad with a very small core of good players it meant we actually had a bench with an average age of 19.2 yrs old for one PL match. But no doubt RC will prefer your one-eyed version.

You naughty naughty boy. How dare you take the piss out of me. I'll report you to the headmaster. No offence taken

Charge Bournemouth 15m for Ibe, demand 30m for a player the manager doesn't even want, an yet won't stump up the extra couple of million for seemingly a vital target.

So Salah?
Salah tells Roma he wants Liverpool move - report

Mohamed Salah has told Roma that he wants to leave the club and move to Liverpool this summer, according to Sky Italia.
The news broke late last night as Liverpool continued negotiations with the Serie A giants in order to thrash out a deal for the Egypt winger.
If true, then Salah’s request to leave the club will put pressure on the Italian side to reach a compromise with the Reds.
--------------

"For Salah there is an offer from an English club but the price will be set by Roma, not the buyers," sporting director Monchi told a press conference for the presentation of new coach Eusebio Di Francesco.

"As I've said before, Roma is not a supermarket. Roma is a team that will represent Italy in Europe.

"We came second in Serie A and our idea is to keep as good a team as possible.
"At the same time no club exists that does not sell players."

-----------------

In other words .. we are selling Salah and however much we get for him ... that will have been our asking price *cough*.

I always find it amusing that FSG have no issues splashing the cash for the Boston Red Sox, yet when it comes to LFC, all of a sudden they become super stingy and like to spend only what they gain out of player sales. If you read the rumours, then you see:

Option 1 - Salah for 30 million
If option 1 fails,
Option 2 - Gelson Martins for 40 million
If option 2 fails,
Option 3 - Douglas Costa for 50 million

If option 1 is indeed the manager's choice, then surely spending the extra 5 is worth more than spending the extra 20 on plan C? Makes no sense.

When we had the chance, we should have really gone all out for Monchi. Klopp was not against the premise of working under a DoF. Looks like Monchi is already starting his work at Roma. Waiting to see how he does there.

You shouldn't believe everything you read !
