On one hand it's nice to see clubs hanging on on their players, but on the other hand, as you said, market is insane, and you could've earn 100 freakin' millions! I'd sell every current player for that kind of money. You might not get back a player as good as him, but you'd get a few excellent ones, or at least you have to believe you would.
But now with that request, plenty changes.
Actually I'll believe it when it's on the BBC, only sky reporting it.

The timing is perfect. To be fair though, I think he'll stay. Liverpool have no choice after that statement but to keep him.
I think it's only fair if Liverpool expect Southampton to let VVD take his career a step higher that they will allow Coutinho to do the same. As much as they don't want it to be true, Liverpool are not a side where world class players peak anymore.

This reads like Barca dirty tricks. I'm not saying Coutinho isn't complicit but there's a clear agenda at play to unsettle Liverpool and push this through.

The one thing in our favour I suppose is that if we do keep hold of him (at least for another season) he'll still have to play himself into the Brazilian squad for next summer's World Cup, so he can hardly coast his way through matches next season.
