Liverpool - 2017/18

But it's widespread. Which I think you're agreeing with. If you murder in secret without getting caught it's still against the law
Wrong analogy. This is more like one guy running over another guy. Guy 2 deciceds whether to press charges or not, and whether to dismiss them in favour of an agreement or not

There is literally no way you can argue that a team's record against the other top teams says anything about the quality of their midfield, other than it's unlikely to be especially bad. ............... Liverpool have a good midfield.
Now you're getting the whole picture and making my argument for me. Good lad !

Not quite. People are seemingly finding a virtue in tapping up without getting caught. What you're saying is closer to the truth but some on here appear to think Liverpool should be in trouble because it's not a secret what they did yet sympathise with clubs who don't get caught.

There is a big difference between saying something is 'especially bad' and 'not very good'. Please actually read what I said, not what you want to read.

Good to hear, hopefully it's true and we stick by it as well.

Gomez out with an injury alongside Milner. Robertson-Matip-Lovren-Arnold looks like our likely back 4 vs Watford for the opener.

Would Sakho be a key player for Liverpool next season?

Very little chance of this. He and Klopp have a personal feud or something. As of now he is for sale despite the fact that with our current option at CB, he should be starting. It would take a remarkable turn of events for him to have a future at the club.

This is actually one of my problems with our manager. Sakho's passing through the lines is a major asset for us when we are trying to break down packed defenses. When he is on form he is also a formidable defender. I think Klopp should just be professional, make him apologise then reintegrate him into the squad. Enough time has passed imo and everything can be swept under the carpet.
We are in a market where any good player regardless of position is costing 40m plus and we are finding it difficult to get clubs to sell their best players. Why not save ourselves selling a defender good enough to start and then commit the resources earmarked for a defender, to another position, We are by no means a complete team.

LFC is and will remain a joke of a team, tbh they've had some very good patches, sometimes showing excellent play, yet failing everytime at their very best.

Mane and Coutinho are world class players on a good day.

That made us United fans laugh for years and I'm sure that it will remain the same due to the amout of money that is being poured by rich teams, even the lesser teams seem to have better signings these days.

They are at a mess, their manager always giving the impression of snapping, their fans are deluded, seeing evil everywhere and longing for a trophy.

I don't see trophyless Klopp staying one more season.

Clear leading contender for Worst Post of the Year.

When do the school holidays end?

They should do well this season but they won't challenge for the title unless they sign VVD or an equivalent CB and get a couple more in for depth. A 4-2-3-1 with Mane and Salah either side of Coutinho behind Firmino is potentially the best attack in the league, on form and if the system clicks like it did at times last season.

On Firmino, I don't know why they aren't looking at an upgrade. He's alright as a false 9, but they'd go up a level if they replaced him with someone better. Maybe not even an out and out striker, but a goals driven attacking mid could upgrade on him.

We might be a better team currently, which is up for debate, but Liverpool are certainly not a mess. Fans being deluded doesn't really have any bearing on how their team performs, I live in Liverpool and most of the fans I've met said they'd be happy with a good title challenge this year anyway which seems reasonable to me. I have no idea what seeing evil everywhere refers to.

I feel quite the opposite about Klopp, I don't think there's any chance of him leaving until he wins a trophy.

He already won the Asian EPL :wenger:

Firmino is one that divides opinion amongst fans but rarely amongst managers/coaches. That goes for Liverpool fans too. However his stats are damn impressive (not as a striker because the goals are spread around the forwards) and I'd say he's pretty much the perfect Klopp-type forward.

It's always a bit painful when posters look to praise subtlety and hidden impact as they come across as a hipster - but Firmino is such a great team player. His role in Klopp's attack is integral to its success. He's an extremely good footballer who may well attract the big Spanish clubs in the future.

Indeed. Highly under-rated by many.

And .. Yaaaay I'm a hipster, at my age that's a huge compliment :D

Front 4 of Coutinho, Mane, Salah and Firmino for the game tonight.

Considering Origi is injured and we have Lallana, Sturridge and Solanke on the bench our attacking options look very good.

That's some seriously impressive depth. I expect some breathtaking moments of football from that front four. All capable of getting goals, but my concern if I was a Liverpool fan would be the absence of a clinical finisher there. Not really a consistent goalscorer there like Kane, Aguero or Lukaku.

I wonder what Liverpool's aspersions are this season and what it would take for them to sack Klopp

They're obviously not going to win the league so is top 4 enough again? At what point do they demand more?

Will he go the Rodgers way? Overachieve massively, and then when hitting the more realistic level then get sacked for it being underpar!

I think they are capable for sure. Why do you say obviously not going to?

From the Guardian

What happened with Van Dijk has gone on for decades in one way or another and to such an extent that senior figures who have worked on the other side of the fence, trying to enforce regulation and deal with disputes, say it would be a conservative estimate to predict that 90% of transfers involve an element of tapping up.

Your club clearly went a lot further than "the 90%" though, as your club actually apologised for their behaviour!

This is a club that didn't even apologise over the Suarez mess, instead choosing to sport t shirts backing a player the independent panel decided was guilty of racism!

So if you're apologising, you've done something pretty bad.

I just don't think you win the league with that goalkeeper, that defence and that midfield

I would clarify my point about sacking Klopp though, I expect only a disaster would result in his sacking and I don't see that happening but I genuinely don't know what their goal this season is, a bit like Arsenal

The goal is to finish as high in the league as possible and try and win something, it isn't really that complicated.

I don't think we win the league with our midfield and defence either, that is why we have tried to sign players in those positions.

You? mofo I'm a United fan.

Klopp's football is not suited for a marathon and unlike last season this season they have european competition and we all saw last season how they started to crumble the moment they had to play 2 games in a week. A top 4 finish should be the bare minimum for klopp's again this season.

I think he's pretty great too however there are lot of low arm swinging Liverpool fans who see only the number of goals he scores and not his all round game.

The clue is in Klopp's determination to keep him on the pitch. You don't stay in the side if you're no good. Firmino is a very good footballer who does a great job in bringing out the best in others.

He makes everyone around him better. I don't think there is a player in the league playing how he does. Some weird blend between dirk kuyt and Dennis Bergkamp.

It would be nice if he scored more, got in behind the defence more and wasn't so useless when played on the wing. If he was a 25 goals a season striker he'd be close to world class.

He's the player I'd love most for us to have from you. He reminds me a bit of Tevez as, like @B20 said, they had the hard work of a Kuyt/Park but they were very good technical players, too.

I wouldn't look too much into to his goal stats. As you know, he just makes the team click better and is an amazing chance creator anyway. It was like that in 07/08 for us. Tevez wasn't scoring too many but he obviously improved us as a team. I thought he did anyway.

He's obviously not as good, but I think Josh King is quite similar to him. A very hard worker who's good on the ball and can find the net, too. There's this one player in La Liga - Gabriel Pires - who I think is very similar to Firmino. I think he's a very good player.

Man I'm loving the look Of Trent Alexander Arnold. He looks so assured and has good decision making in the final third. He has also matured physically. Clyne might have to fight for a starting spot.

I agree. Our offence looks solid, but we could do with a real striker. We have a lot of games the coming season, and Firmino, Coutinho, Mane and Salah obviously can't play them all. None of them are out and out strikers anyway. In general, we need much more depth than last season considering we now (hopefully) have the CL as well. In offence as well as defence and arguably midfield.

0-3 up against Bayern? Can't watch, what's happening?
