Liverpool 2014/15 | WARNING: Contains strong amounts of Scouse nonsense

Rodgers attempting to work out why Lovren cost 20 million!
It's a trick question. There is no right answer.

No joke, I was surprised at even younger people knowing her. Also whenever you see pictures of Churchill over there she often is nearby. It's amazing just how many TV progs and books etc. there is about her. No coincidence why Meryl Stroop wanted to play that part. Blair wanted to carve out the same reputation when he went off with Bush boy.
Have to agree with @FlawlessThaw a lot of Americans I know wouldn't know who the photo was(maybe they'd have heard the name). This is a country where I've been asked 'did you drive from Ireland', "If you're from Ireland are you Scottish or something", "How come you speak such good English for a foreign", and a country where I've managed to convince people we don't have WiFi, umbrellas, or Wednesdays in Ireland. The ignorance of the outside world is remarkable at times. She's hugely popular among older conservatives, and will get the odd mention on Fox.

Very funny side Dipperpool. I was expecting some kind of performance given all the hype but last night was dross. Some Scouse pundits suggested Bagga-telly was playing well but it was not very interesting to watch. Besiktas have a manager who fired up his players with his very special motivational skills compared with Rodgers. If City continue to play well the Scousers might get a hiding.

Don't disagree with you on most of that but I have been surprised at what I see and hear while visiting the USA. I'm probably sensitive to it because of how much I disliked her and the damage she caused.

Life is one big ball of confusion for you Dippers....
Especially when people keep spouting bullshit like that. He's an average manager at best and to my knowledge, he has done nothing to suggest he's an "exceptional motivational speeker" or whatever. I think @Mali_Zeus can back me up here.

Don't care if you call upon mighty Zeus himself to confirm your argument. I didn't write 'spe(a)ker' I wrote 'very special' because it beat Rodger's and his Dipperpool dross. The penalty in that context was very funny.

He's very good at motivating players, not exceptional but very good. Was very good with NT, not just success wise but made them believe in themselves after a disastrous 2006 WC. He's dragging an average Besiktas side to turkish title. Maybe they wont win it but its already a huge story there and he's a star in Turkey. Maybe I'm a bit biased but I wouldnt say he's an average manager. He is very good one. He proved himself with Croatia NT and is proving himself at club level. Hasnt had the best of times in Russia but it all came to right place in Turkey.

Liverpool has better players and a better squad but it seems like they heart wasnt in it or whatever, plus the crazy Besiktas fans and that was that. :)

Good bit of analysis mate, agree with you.:)

As I said I may be a bit biased, he's Croatian and I love the guy. Would be delighted if he'd win Turkish title. :)

I heard some stories about City being interested in him.

Not surprised people are interested in him. He motivates from the training ground to the sidelines, that's a powerful tool in today's footy. I like the energy and the passion. It's what footy should be about, not all this false philosophies and unproven science that has krept into the game.:)

Feck this, I thought he was still in charge of your NT when you played Belgium. Confused him with Igor Stimac, so it seems. Could very well all be true what you said about Bilic, although his spell at Lokomotiv wasn't the best indeed.

Yeah but time is on his side and hes already doing good.
confusing him with Stimac is a mistake cause Stimac is a first grade idiot.:D

They've been apologizing mostly for this campaign:

Anyone who was upset or offended by this is an idiot. It's so ridiculous that you know whoever made it didn't even know who Liverpool were, nevermind what the flames represented.

Agree with you how trivial but you know how sensitive a certain minority can get about any kind of besmirching of their victimhood. Not mentioning any names mind you, given the sensitivities......:boring:

The conflation of Hillsborough and the notion of victimhood is pretty off colour, even in a rival's forum.

It may seem sensitive, but these wounds haven't healed for a large number based on over two decades of judicial and state malpractice. The club's use of the flames is to recognise the death of innocent people while also highlighting the injustice that hangs over the tragedy. It's not the worst thing to have happened but people have a right to feel aggrieved about it and diverting the debate towards petty digs is cheap.

I don't know. I think the digs about "victimhood" are cheap and nasty whenever they're made. But football's like that, there's idiots everywhere, and getting all butt hurt over a couple of milkshakes is childish and ridiculous.

If people were to say it was a stupid thing to do by a stupid company that has no idea of the nature of the club it's sponsoring, then I would think that's fair. I'd also say it was just generally disrespectful to rework the club's (awful) crest like that. But bleating about Dunkin Donuts as if they're the reincarnation of Kelvin MacKenzie and all those idiot drongos who still claim Hillsborough was caused by drunken hooligans? That's hysterical internet drama queenery. Internet terrorists should rise above. There'll be something actually important along sooner or later when the inquests are done.

It was a most enjoyable defiling of their sacred symbol, by their official donut partner! I guess there's one more thing to boycott now - Dunkin Donuts has no idea what they've done, which is the best part.

I'm just a little upset at seeing "America" added to the faux Liverpool crest. I can get over it since I'm sure it's causing them plenty of emotional distress.

America Runs on Dunkin.

Sounds better than yawn.

We were never going to win the Europa League. Hurts to go out on penalties but I'm not too fussed, rather go out now than in the last 16 or quarters. At least we can focus on top four and the FA Cup now.

Couldn't watch the game because I had training myself but some friends told me it was a bad performance on our behalf :( I hope we pull our act together come Sunday and beat City, that would be huge.
Why you think so???

@Gina11 A little off topic but I was in Austin a couple of weeks ago and watched the Arsenal-Leicester game in a place called Fado's and it was absolutely packed with Liverpool supporters. You weren't there by any chance?

No, I wasn't. I used to go in but I can get all the games at home now and I'm very lazy.

I'll just refrain and refer you to #9541 above.

Indeed. However, the child like attitude of some recent posts is just based on winding up Liverpool supporters. It's school playground stuff, but that's the way people are I am afraid.

Fair point. I was more focusing on the fact that whenever this topic is raised you get a few comedians who use it as a chance to expose themselves as numbskulls.

Where were you when people proclaimed their love for Liverpool against Tottenham and Southampton?

I'm just not ready to quit, give up, surrender, synonyms people rarely associated with United before. And feck, even god damn Chelsea can be caught, probably won't, but some might still believe. Also, City is as awful as Liverpool these days.

Chelsea are 13 points ahead with double the goal difference but they may as we'll be 50 points clear. United couldn't catch a cold nevermind 1st position.
Supporting Liverpool as a United fan, you just don't get it
Not to mention the fact that Liverpool are only 2 points behind us now and you want them to win!? The mind boggles

I agree with this, good balanced post. And the question we have to ask ourselves is, what was their motive here?

DD were not trying to disrespect you guys. They were reworking the logo as a publicity stunt. An advertising campaign. Something light hearted. Do you think they even once thought about what those flames stood for? Unlikely.

This situation kinds of reminds me of how when one person describes another person by their skin colour, some idiot will start saying he's racist when he's clearly not. He's just trying to describe a person. It's like that kind of overreacting here.

It was a naive and ignorant thing to do. But that's pretty much where it ends. Which is why you're right in that the full shabang should be saved for the real wankers.

I already posted to you my reasons in previous thread with similar subject, you decide to ignore them or just don't care, and that's fine. Just know that not everyone is like you.
