Liverpool 2014/15 | WARNING: Contains strong amounts of Scouse nonsense

Jones and Evans are who I'm mainly talking about. Both have played very little football and Jones wouldn't have even been on the pitch if not for Rojo's last minute injury.
You really are missing the point completely ... did they concede any goals ? No. So what difference would Smalling or Rojo have made ? Maybe they would have erred and conceded. You can't bitch about a defence that didn't concede no matter how close they came to doing so.

However you are now moving the goalposts because you said "a fully fit defence" and that one would assume includes no wingers playing as wing backs. So Rafael & Shaw would shave started and see how that may have affected the outcome .. with no Valencia and no Young.

Our two CB-Jones and Evans have played very little.
It was Jones first match since October. Evans only had played half a game since September.

This was a massive plus for Liverpool and you still couldn't take advantage.

You lot are in real trouble. Your PL season is a write off if you lose to Arsenal.
See the post above - went way above your head because you were so engrossed with thinking how you could get a jab in ;)

I'm not bitching about anything, I was just responding to this quote..
Sturridge out is a huge issue. He would have scored at least one, maybe two against us.

It's as if Sturridge would have been a deciding factor, when we ourselves were missing a host of players that would have started that game and as a result we'd have been far more comfortable at the back and even more threatening up front. It swings both ways, so it's a pointless discussion.

There were several reports during the weekend we were very interested in Fiorentina's goalie Neto. Can't really say anything about him as I haven't seen him play, although I read somewhere he made a horrible mistake this weekend :nervous:

Howler against Cesena aside, he's one of the better keepers in Serie A. He's stalling on a new contract aswell so he'll be cheap if not free. Would be a good option for your lot. Won't make the world of difference unless you improve the shite defence in front of him though.

The guy who leaked the Liverpool line-up at the weekend says it's 3 at the back again. Sakho still doesn't get a start, neither does Can or Markovic, and Sterling still doesn't get a rest. Really hope he's talking bullshit, would be a pathetic selection otherwise.

That would be ridiculous.

#LFC are making an audacious bid to sign Petr Cech on loan. Chelsea have not dismissed completely the idea of a loan for Cech. (Mirror)

Rodgers will spend as much as it takes to bring in a striker capable of running in behind defences, with targets Lacazette & Bony. (Mirror)

Cech and Lacazette in January would be sexual.

I'll be amazed if you don't purchase in those positions come January. But yeah, Chech and Bony would be great for you.

Cech on loan would be a steal indeed, a proper leader in the back. Bony be a huge improvement too, would offer good speed and power up front.

Would be superb ..... but as likely to happen as me picking up a gorgeous 18 year old (if the wife were to permit it of course) ;)

How much would Boiny cost? He signed a new contract in the summer I think and that added to Liverpool's desperation could lead to another exhorbitant price tag.

Unless the guy downs tools they won't sell him in January, and given the state liverpool are in not sure he'd be so desperate to move. He'll no doubt have lots of options in the summer if he wants to move and Swansea will have clubs auctioning his price up too.

Lacazette would be better for them than Bony.

Can't see Lyon letting him go and I can't see Lacazette wanting to go to Liverpool either. Lyon are well within the very top right now, 3 points or so off the first place behind Marseille and PSG, in the end they'll be fighting for CL and iirc Lacazette is top scorer in Ligue 1 at the moment.

Liverpool would have to throw really, really crazy money at Lyon to get him.

Yep agree with that.

Can see Mourinho letting a loan deal for Cech go ahead. Liverpool aren't rivals for the title but the ones who are - Utd, City, Arsenal etc will have to play against Cech. Chelsea get to face Brad Jones. That kind of situation would appeal to Jose.

As for Bony and Lacazette, where are Liverpool getting all this money from? They spent big in the summer, plus Rodgers is under serious pressure so do they trust him with another £25-£30M in January? FFP and no CL next season, a stadium expansion... can't see how they'll pull off any big signing next month.

That's a very good point, the only blocking point would be to have Schwarzer as back up but I don't think that will be sufficient to stop it going ahead. He sold Mata to us as soon as he thought he was surplus to requirements, he's pragmatic. There are more positives than negatives in loaning Cech out.

From what I've seen, I think Can and Lallana should be getting more games. Borini should have also perhaps been given more chances, at least alongside Lambert up front. Perhaps having someone close to him and linking would have got something out of him.

Seriously doubt Jose will allow Cech anywhere near this lot during this window. More likely to happen at the end of the season, if at all.

Yeah, Manquillo is better than Johnson anyway. Though it looks like Rodgers may persist with the wing back formation (Henderson on the right).

I know Johnson is a liability at times, but Manquillo looks so ordinary. Is he really better than Johnson?

Yeah, definitely. Manquillo isn't amazing but he's a solid defender who has somehow been chucked onto the bench despite being our best player defensively so far (not a great achievement, I know). He's poor going forward but even Glen Johnson's attacking threat has gone to shit so it's not like we'd miss anything there.

If we decide to stick with the wing back formation then Manquillo shouldn't play, he's not good enough in the opposition half yet.

He does look better defensively. He's not a spectacular or a great defender by no means but in relative to Johnson, you'd be hard pressed to find a more liable rb. Manquillo is definitely an upgrade on Johnson who has been woeful for some time now.

There isn't a single Liverpool player I would take for a full match day squad for United.

Sturridge over Rooney, RvP or Falcao? Nope.
Sterling over Di Maria? Not a chance.
Gerrard over Carrick? Have a laugh.

After that, there isn't even a remote shout.

Dishonest way to look at Sterling though, as you could just pick him and Di Maria:

------Rooney--RVP/Falcao--
Di Maria--Herrera---Sterling
--------Carrick/Blind--------

would make a lot of sense for most of our games and in bigger games maybe drop a striker for Mata, drop Rooney deeper, go 3 at the back or bring in Henderson to run around like an idiot and overload the middle with running in him and Herrera.

Sterling would be an integral part of our squad. We need a player like him, as well as Di Maria.
