Liverpool 2014/15 | WARNING: Contains strong amounts of Scouse nonsense

I've never liked Gerrard so I'm not claiming to be unbiased in my opinion of him but my God he was terrible yesterday. He looked and moved like an old man, it was embarrassing/hilarious. He can still provide quality from set pieces and he's a great penalty taker but in open play he offers nothing and he is a massive liability to them. The slip has crushed him I think, he seems to have aged about 10 years in the 6 months since then.

He's bordering on Gary Neville towards the end levels of awfulness.

Also he had a two week rest for this game. It doesn't look good at all for him.

Went to bed at 1-0. Surprised they lost 3-1 though. Must have been a pretty bad second half. Gerrard has to be benched, he cannot play that role at all (from a defensive perspective).

I was shocked by how bad they've gotten too. The only games they've looked anywhere near last season's team is when they scored the 1st goal away from home, at Spurs and at QPR. Scoring first sets the game up perfectly for them, the opposition has to come at them which leaves space for Liverpool to break into so after Lambert's goal they made a mess of it.

Once Palace got back level they just sat 11 men in their own half, let Gerrard and their centre backs knock it around in their own half, no danger there. Palace were also very good at breaking up any Liverpool counter attacks when they did get caught with men forward, the ref was very lenient on this, the stats say Palace had 22 fouls and only 1 yellow card. Hull and Newcastle did the same thing against Liverpool this season, it might not be pretty but it certainly works.

Rodgers needs to come up with something different, teams have learned from last season that you don't want to get into an open, attacking game of football against Liverpool. You let them have the ball and frustrate them, then counter attack yourself as Liverpool push both full backs too far forward without adequate covering from Gerrard.

He looked like one of those old park players who go on too long and get simply brushed aside by younger, faster and fitter opponents.

All so true.

Thing is when Gerrard (and Johnson) don't play we have a much more fluid game. We might not score loads of, or any, goals but the football is less predictable.

This will be demonstrated once again against Ludogorets where we might not win but the game will be half enjoyable to watch at least. It will actually be how Brendan wants us to play. And it will only be possible because Gerrard will be 'rested'.

Then Rodgers will have yet another brain fart, not realise why we did so well midweek, and play his landlord the full 90 minutes on Saturday again. Such a strange paradox.

Thought they already had their own version of Ferguson at the club already.

Unfortunately for them, it's Sarah.

Is that the Belgian striker beside Balotelli? I'd imagine it's been difficult for him to be a success for Liverpool while he's in France.

Only 2 out of 24 yet you can even question them as well. Sturridge is no use if he's always injured while Coutinho is a clear talent but inconsistent.

Including this summer's signings is ridiculous. So is including players like Ilori who have been loaned out to get experience and have yet to play for the club.

Fact is he's bought in 24 players and only two are making a consistent impact.

I'd argue that none of this summer's signings have been given the chance to make a consistent impact. Toure hasn't been a bad signing either, nor has Allen. There has to be a middle ground between good and bad.

They were awful against qpr, just got incredibly lucky. Sterling played well in that game and was the difference pretty much.

As for how to play against them, you don't even need that anymore. Teams dominate them regularly these days, go forward a lot, or even get results by sitting back and countering. This season pretty much any style of play has worked and defeated them so far, they're awful going forwards, slow, can't make any chances, awful in midfield and getting overrun and out fought constantly, and then defensively and goalkeeper is probably their weakest point. I've seen almost all of their games so far, and the spurs game aside, there really hasn't been anything encouraging from their performances. Shit all around the pitch and no confidence or belief.

Pretty much this.

There's no big secret. Teams aren't putting 11 behind the ball and frustrating them, that's nonsense. There's no threat to frustrate.

Crystal Palace completely took the game to them because they smelt blood. Liverpool look like conceding every time the opposition come forward. They made Bolasie look like Eden Hazard, it was bizarre.

It's all very simple. They don't score, they can't defend, and they are tactically inept. Those teams tend to lose football matches, shock horror.

To be fair for them, they DID want to sing Alexis Sanchez for Suarez money, but he only wanted Arsenal. And other than him, there weren't any Suarez replacements available.

Thought they still should do better. Instead of Lallana (who may be decent, but not really needed with Coutinho and Sterling), they should've went for Schneiderlin.

Also, what happened to Flanagan? He looked decent last season, and decent defender for LFC is like great defender for them as for now.

I agree that some of the players haven't had a real chance yet.

Toure and Allen haven't made an impact though. Maybe you're right about middle ground (perhaps Allen can fall into that). Looking forward, a midfield of Can, Allen and Henderson isn't good enough anyway. Rodgers signed two of those and it isn't good enough.

That article also gave Mignolet a pass, despite him being shit.

They're shite and don't have the squad or players to be a top four club again any time soon, balance restored.

He's injured, been out all season. Not sure when he's due back though.

This season looks like a write off for them unless Rodg can emulate KKK and win the league cup.

Not a chance they're getting to 2 cup finals on current form. If Chelsea are comfortable at the top I wouldn't put it beyond them winning the FA cup too.

Just realised they've conceded more goals then us, despite all our defensive injuries

Harsh to judge all the new signings as failures I think. Moreno will probably be a decent player, and Markovic probably needs more time to settle in. That said, Balotelli, Lovren, Mignolet, Sakho, Borini etc have all been bad buys.

EDIT: On Mignolet, I am not sure how any defence could look behind them and feel safe. It's not just the way he plays but to me he always looks like he is nervous and unsure of himself; like his facial expressions and stuff. He just doesn't display any confidence whatsoever.

Raheem: So I just, uh... I just cut their defence up like regular chickens?

Brentan : Sure, just cut them up like regular chickens.

That tweet about Rodger's signings is a bit unfair, considering some of them are still not even halfway through their first season at the club. They could still pick themselves up and make something of the season. Maybe an FA or league cup win. It's not impossible.

Taking my neutral face off, it's a delight watching Rodgers struggle after seeing him shoot his mouth off on Southampton, Spurs and Van Gaal like he was the second coming of Shankly and Busby.

A hard fought away trip to Ludogorets tomorrow followed by Stoke on saturday . I bet Brendan is working on his post match speeches already .

Imagine Fergie was so bored in retirement he decided to try put them back on their perch!

SAF lead a revolution which shook Manchester United from its core. The club transformed from a sleeping giant/pub club who was comfortable in rising to occasion in big games to a financial monster which demanded perfection from youth academy right to the first team and staff. To be able to emulate that SAF would need plenty of time and a fighting spirit which went missing in his past few years with us. A young SAF who showed the door to legends like McGrath and nearly sacked Schmeichel would have never allowed the likes of Anderson to take the mick out of the club for so many years.

Question to liverpool fans. I havent been watching lot of Liverpool this year, but as I hear and read fans are really disapšpointed by Lovren and have been writing all kind of stuff about him on twitter and whatever.
Has he been that bad?
He has been replaceb by Vida in the NT too and Vida has taken his chance superbly.
