Liverpool 2014/15 | WARNING: Contains strong amounts of Scouse nonsense

He's so bad I'd start Borini ahead of him for every fixture Sturridge is out. That's bad.
Atleast Borini is busy and sort of suits how you lot play. Not as if Balotelli is scoring anyway and he slows the attack down so much and just outright refuses to work off the ball.

Exactly, ironically if Borini started tonight I reckon we would have won. Comfortably. Basle are a shockingly shit side. Playing 10 men with Gerrard is bad enough but playing with 9 men because of Balotelli is reckless by Rodgers.

Even against 9 men Basle hardly had a shot on goal. Needed that gift or they would have been as good as out tonight.

Liverpool look like United under Moyes, except we were actually decent in Europe. I'd be surprised if we don't see a West Brom victory at Anfield in the weekend, perfectly mirroring United last season.

Borini actually makes sense, Balotelli is just awful, Milan will be gobsmacked someone was willing to take him, I thought he'd be brilliant for them but he's dreadful.

How wonderful would that be? It'd be achievable too, any team playing them will think they can have them, they're us from last year except, dare I say it? Worse!

Just remembered they still have to face Madrid
Imagine Bale and Ronaldo against that defense.

Real Madrid may very well score 10 in those two meetings.

Liverpool to finish third, win the Europa and Man Utd to miss out in 4th spot.

Ooops. :D

Now that Suarez has gone there's literally no threat. I mean Sturridge will score goals but he's no Suarez and the rest of the team is incredibly average.

They should've bought someone big with the Suarez cash.

Said this during preseason, still of this opinion.

Did terribly in the transfer market and now are suffering the consequences of their actions. Suarez carried them last season and sadly they thought that it was a great team effort rather than what it was. I've kept stressing that, that midfield was never going to handle europe and now they are being dominated by the likes of Basle.

Wrong. It doesnt take away from a countries place if that happens.

You made a slip up.

Also you arent good enough to win Europa anyway.

I thought they (Basle) moved the ball around decent enough and looked like the only team that would score.

I think that only happens when a team outside the top 4 wins the Champions League. If that above scenario happens, England get 5 CL spots.

Turn off your PlayStation, you're not getting 3rd this year with your Southampton team.

Liverpool have to ditch Gerrard, he's completely done. I hope they play him for as long as possible though
That's an insult to Southampton.

That team effort relied purely on them having no other distractions, mixed with the brilliance of Suarez. I'd say Sturridge will improve them, but he won't do an awful lot in a team this dead. Everything that they had going for them last season already looks a distant memory.

Eh? So much for "knowledgeable fans"

FFS did any of you lot do comprehension at school?

Third....in the CL league group....which leads us to Europa league....which we win.....which stops you qualifying.

You kids, honestly.

You're completely wrong. England can have five teams in the CL so long as the fifth is the EL winner and not the CL winner.

apparently that is not true so you have embarrassed yourself a bit.

Why do you want us to rest the only player who's actually pulled their weight with Sturridge out? We missed our chance to do that when Rodgers stupidly played him against Boro.

Now he has to play, at least until Sturridge is back starting. Think you're underestimating Basle and/or ignoring how bad our recent form has been.

Bob, now you know why I said we needed to rest Sterling. His general shittiness tonight is not hindsight, it was foresight which Rodgers didn't share unfortunately. :(

Now Sterling's fcked for West Brom too. His confidence is gone as well as his sharpness.

Ok googled it and it seems you lot are right. But the only articles I can find in 2013 state "an official announcement will be made on Friday". Was that announcement officiallly made?

Ming 4 - are you fecking nuts ! Passing out to Gerrard with 2 players within a few metres of him. Bloody dolt.
Enrique - 6.5 - had his work cut out with two fast players on that wing. Needs help. Did OK in an attacking capacity too.
Lovren - 6 - a danger at set pieces. He could/maybe should have scored today. Wake up in defence please.
Skrtel - ZERO - stop fecking hoofing, 3 times in the 1st half. fecking ridiculous play at the corner. Pushed the guy he was marking so far out that he himself was no longer part of the defensive line and could only attempt a pathetic back-header. Too busy fouling to even notice the ball until it was too late.
Manquillo - 6.5 - a couple of errors but was also our best bet to get anything from the right. He really is a very decent FB.
Gerrard - 5 - simply had to do more, both in defence and attack
Henderson - 5 - see Gerrard. Not one of his better matches in the 1st half, better in the second and especially the final 15 mins when we actually started playing like Liverpool and not Tranmere Rovers.
Coutinho - 5 - if there were runners he could find them, though he found Sterling on a few occasions it's not on the wing we needed it. Disappeared without a trace in the 2nd half.
Markovic - 5 - he looks better through the centre, beginning to find his feet and trying to make runs through the defence. Still not great. Looks to lack confidence in front of goal and certainly needs to improve his final pass in and around the box.
Sterling - 6 - stupid foul for a yellow. Trying to do everything himself and failing most of the time .... though who can blame him. Horrendous miss when in the penalty area and he inadvertently nudged the ball in front of him with only the keeper to beat.
Balotelli - 4 - feck off. Lazy arse. Get back onside FFS. Don't yell at RS that he should have passed to you when you should have run into the box and stop trying to dribble past 2-3 defenders, because you can't. Not much better in the 2nd, in fact worse. So many attacks break down with him .. either offside, greedy, tried too much or just poor passing. Such a poor team player.
Lallana - 6.5 - should have started. Keeps possession and added creativity immediately. You could sense that something would happen given enough time .... he/we didn't have it.

BR - 3 - Poor not starting Lallana and should have got Lambo (who immediately started bringing others into play and holding the ball up well in dangerous areas) on a lot earlier for Balotelli. Really did not get the team up for this match at all and that is by far the most damning statement.

http://www1.skysports.com/football/...winners-with-champions-league-place-from-2015

It is understood that Europa League winners and Champions League winners will no longer take one of the places assigned to their domestic leagues if they finish outside of the Champions League qualifying spots.
UEFA have confirmed that the winners of the Europa League will qualify for the Champions League from the 2015/16 season.
That means England could have five Champions League places from 2015-16 if one of its clubs lifts the Europa League in 2015 and finishes outside the top four.

Balotelli is doing exactly what most neutrals said he would do. Very arrogant of Rodgers to assume he could transform a striker who wouldn't listen to numerous coaches beforehand.

Rumors were that he didnt want him. Some claim the signing was over Rodgers head.

Bugger, its bad news all round tonight. :(

Edit: And I wouldn't pay even £1m for Balotelli if I was the next club considering loaning him. Woeful.

It likely wouldn't be so bad losing Suarez if there was a replacement even remotely adequate but feck me mate, Balo and Lambert is just mind boggling.
Felt a bit for Sterling tonight as his touch deserted him but he's ran himself into the ground in the absence of Sturridge and there's a worry of burn out before the seasons barely underway.
Can take some hope in Madrids performance tonight though but your gonna need to pull the fingers out fecking sharpish and pray for Sturridge to fly straight back into form.

This committee stuff seems to just offer Rodgers a layer of protection for any decision. He can never be accused of "having to much control" like Wenger often has by those people who prefer a director of football model and if it goes wrong he can point the finger elsewhere.

Disapointing and dire performance from us tonight. Not going to finish in the top four at this rate, we just haven't got started at all and were two months in. Basel weren't great tonight, neither were we but we could of scrapped a draw if our attack weren't so useless.

It's worrying were awful going forward now whilst still being bad at the back. We've made some offkey signings it seems with Markovic, Ballotelli, Lambert with his customary 10 minutes off the bench.. whats the bloody point. I said we in August we should have got the Remy deal done, but no the 'medical' said different.

I don't know where Rodgers is going with this squad at the moment, seems to have lost his way abit, feeding us the 'players are still imbedding the philosophy' tripe, tinkering formations, still making us look defensively woeful and soft at set pieces. It looking like he's got things wrong at both ends now.
