Right, but it's not as if playing for England was some unusual cause for his injury, nor are international matches some unreasonable expectation to make of players. Rodgers has been acting as if asking his players to play for the country is outrageous and hugely costly to the club by definition. Players get injured, and he happened to get injured in the England shirt instead of the Liverpool shirt. The way they've acted all indignant about it ever since, as if they were exploited and abused, is frankly pathetic.
I don't think that's true. Obviously I have no first hand knowledge of Sturridge's fitness plan but what has annoyed Rodgers is that England don't listen to advice we give them about how to handle Sturridge on the training ground. He thinks that it's because of that Sturridge is repeatedly getting injured for England.
There's also the fact that the clown of a manager has owned up to playing an injured Sturridge in the past (which aggravated an injury) to "test his resolve".
I can understand why he's so pissed off with England's treatment.
