Lionel Messi

He's clearly a deluded idiot Frankly, I suggest we respond to every single one of his posts with a LOL or a  and leave it at that.

Or maybe if he's ignored he'll finally feck off. It's clear noone takes him seriously anyway.

Which are all these top oppositions that Messi dominated? in pre-season friendlies?

Fact is Messi still hasn't any CL goals against any of the top teams.

Goals again
How many full matches has Messi played against top teams in the CL? Messi has been playing in the CL football only for three seasons. In 05/06 he was used sparingly, in 06/07 he was injured and 07/08 he took them to the semis.

Three...Two out of them he was the MOTM.

Ronaldo against Milan, scored a goal and was mediocre through out the remaining matches made little or no impact dissapearing in all the matches we lost. Ronaldo against Barcelona, bundled out in both legs, against Chelsea did well for 60 minutes. Ronaldo against Inter Milan, scored a goal and was good over both legs but never able to take the attack to the opposition as Messi did against Chelsea or us. Roma aint certainly a top team, if so then Lyon also fall in the same bandwidth.

Ronaldo has played loads of stinkers against not so great teams, whilst Messi whenever he was match fit and played has always maintained his level.

CL knockout stage shouldn't count, let's just look at how many teams Messi dismantled, dominated, pissed all over in PRESEASON FRIENDLIES...

Somehow Messi is always MoTM when he gets subbed off early, here against Chelsea, and also away at the Bernabeu where those 80,000+ Madrid fans must be clueless, why applaud Dinho when they should bow down to the brilliant of Messi?

All the managers, players & fans who praise Messi are geniuses, all the other ones who praise Ronaldo (Sir Alex included) are clueless wankers who don't know what they are talking about. :wenger:

I fed you with match highlights and you tube clips but still you prefer to wear your blinkers, trying to nitpick the standing ovataion. Its once again clear you're prattling without watching the match arguing with one line editorials and stats.

Bet get a DVD and try watching the match again. Messi was devastating on the pitch against Real Madrid, not taking anything away from Ronaldinho here.

This Fergie/CQ angle of praising Ronaldo and comparing him effortlessly with Pele or Maradona is more to soothe his ego, just mind games to spur him up.
As for Messi the superlatives flows out from neutral managers and fans alike Capello, Lippi, Hiddink, Hitzfeld, the so called clueless managers compared him with Maradona and Luiz Ronaldo after he dismantled their respective teams. Its easy to watch those matches and figure out his impact, rather spewing bollocks.

The penalty had no outcome on the match so it was meaningless in that context. The fact that Ronaldo scored it shows he is good at penalties and has good character. However for the rest of the game i thought he was remarkably average, and putting in two decent balls in 90mins doesn't change my opinion of that.

I say how i see it, i don't really remember going on and on about Messi dominating matches, when he performs well then sure enough i'll say so, if he doesnt perform so well i'll say so, no big deal for me. You are the one justifying every Ronaldo performance, i don't feel the need.

Messi was what? 18/19? in his first seasons. Did Rooney get played all the time by Moyes at Everton? was Ronaldo playing every minute in his first couple of seasons?

managers tend to bed players, allow them to get used to it and also use the sparingly to protect them. I thought this was fairly common knowledge in football.

As for praise well more respected figures do tend to say Messi is the real deal. I think the people who back Ronaldo as the best tend to be United men or portuguese where as Messi gets backed by most people, not just argies and barca fans, that tells it's own story but you'll ignore it.
The penalty put United 1-0 up, how was that meaningless?

Was Messi's goal against Atletico meaningless as well?

Why are you going on and on about Messi being bedded in? Did I argue otherwise? What are you on about?

You're just reading what you want to read from these so called respected figures, you have not been able to provide a single article where Capello or Lippi or any of those you harp on about actually say "Messi is a better player than Ronaldo" or "Messi is the best player in the World for the past 3 years".

You still think Messi did better than Ronaldinho in that game?

In the context of the outcome of the match they were meaningless goals yes.

I'm hardly going on and on about Messi being bedded in, it was the first time i mentioned it actually so i'm not sure where you get "going on and on about it" from. I mention it because you seem to be flabergasted that a very young Messi didn't play every week or didnt last 90mins every game. Which seemed a bit daft to me.

I'm reading what i want to read? You are the one who ignores comments unless they actually state "Messi is better than Ronaldo"

and i'm the one who only sees what he wants to see?

You are one of a kind Cal? i'll give you that.

Fine, go find the stats for Ronaldo 07/08 vs Messi 08/09 adjusted for goals and assists in defeats (hence meaningless).

Did I ever say it was Messi's fault he didn't last 90mins?

None of them actually said Messi is the best player in the World, they praise him just like plenty of managers play top players, but somehow, you assumed that the likes of Capello, Lippi & co all think Messi is better than Ronaldo.

You and vijay are 2 of a kind, be glad you have a sidekick.

The sheer sheer sheer SHEER audacity of Cal saying that to someone is just incredible.

:lol::lol: What a dipshit.

Lippi commenting on footballers today "The best? Messi"....

But i guess being the best doesn't make you better than Ronaldo so unless Lippi states "the best? Messi, and that means even better than Cristiano Ronaldo, yes Cal? the best INCLUDING Ronaldo" then i guess you'll continue to ignore it plain and simple.

Link?

I was under the impression Lippi said he is the most talented player around.

Btw, talent does not equate to brilliance, I'm sure most people will agree the likes of Terry, Carragher, G Neville are not the most talented players around.

I think saying "The best? Messi" is pretty conclusive.

That was Lippi, it was Capello who talked about talent, he said of Ronaldo and Robben "The two of them are great players, but nobody in the world has the talent that Messi has".

Again a diplomatic way of saying Messi is the best but again unless he says "and that means i think he is better than Ronaldo" then it doesn't really matter anyway, right cal? ;)

As I said, link?

How many times do I have to explain being more talented does not equate to being the better player?

Is Micah Richards more talented than Carragher? Is Micah Richards a better defender than Carragher?

You're entitled to your opinion about Capello's more talented remark being a diplomatic way of saying better, but again, don't try to force your opinion of things on everyone else.

Only someone as rediculously blinkered as yourself would claim it is anything but a diplomatic wording by Capello, why would he go out his way to praise Messi, even calling him Maradonas successor and putting Robben and Ronaldo in the same "great player" catagory but basically and quite obviously saying Messi is better.

We've learnt that Cal's a dipshit and is madly in love with CR7. And that he should never ever ever enter one of my (anyones) threads as he invariably ruins them.

That you can't talk about any of the best players doing the rounds without people (Cal) brining CR7 into the equation.

Ronaldo and Messi are brilliant players.

74 pages,

and what do we learn exactly?

Cal is a CR7 fanboi, hates barca, will never acknowledge anyone from there, henry in particular.

Franklyvulgar thinks la liga is ace and messi the bestest ever.

Vijay thinks messi was the bestest ever from the beginning.

I think it could have stopped when someone posted the first BPITW.

The Capello ones seems to be the journalist doing what you're doing, putting words into his mouth. As I said, a more talented footballer does not equal to a better footballer.

You can't even admit that he clearly thinks more of Messi, you wont admit it until someone says "Messi is the best, yes that means even better than Cristiano Ronaldo". Truely pathetic.

Remember when I asked him who was currently playing better, and he said - 'Ronaldo. Messi is... blah blah blah.'

Absolute obsessive loon.

You gotta give it to Cal he hasn't moved an inch despite all the sense being thrown in his direction.

This is what happens when an unstoppable force hits an immovable object...

He does give it his best, it has to be said. Mind you he fails somewhat miserably.

He did actually budge a little and admitted Messi is currently playing better. Though the first time he somehow worked 'Ronaldo' into the start of the sentence, hilarious stuff. I think he just likes reading/typing/googling/masturbating to the name.

Dippersripper used to be just as bad as Cal?, if not worse back in the day.

But that was a fair while ago, and now he's developed (too much FM on my part?) into one of the better posters doing the rounds now. Win for the caf!

I beg to differ. He thinks Vidic has been better than Messi this season, that's pretty silly no matter how good Vidic has been even not taking into account the last month or so when he's been struggling.

Bah, I'll afford him that since I like him. Though it is pretty silly, a better line of argument would be he's been as important.

Which would be fair I'd say, what with Rio being down in form this season.

I also thought Rio was better than Ronaldo last season. I think defenders don't get the recognition they deserve.

Hello cesc;)

Cal's actually a decent poster on most things barring Henry or Arsenal. He's clearly a Ronaldo fanboy and both Vijay and FV are Messi fanboys. But no harm in being fanboys for these 2 since they're both great players.

which is a fair point, generally true because defenders tend not to be as talented as forwards, making them less eye catching.

Since his little injury the great Vidic has struggled though.

why do you treat vidic's greatness with such sarcasm? Very strange coming froM a united supporter about uniteds best plYer this season playing in probably the toughest league.

Vidic hasn't struggled off late, rio has. Vidic just had a poor last gMe, otherwise he's been near flawless. Fouling martins was hardly struggling. As was being brilliant and scoring the crucial goal against inter

I think Vidic has been outstanding, for me the best defender in the world. Doesn't mean he hasn't struggled by his own high standards since coming back from injury. In his first game back he struggled. He should have had a red card in one of the games for a crazy challenge and then had one of his worst outings in a united shirt against liverpool.

I'm not treating it with sarcasm, i genuinely think Vidic has been great.

It sounded very sarcastic.

When exactly did he struggle since coming back? Making a few rough tackles/ fouls dont really matter. He has to stop the other team from scoring and even against Newcastle who really played quite superbly and lets be honest, Martins can outpace ANY defender, he was overall once again very good. Hes just had this one terrible game and it happens. If Rooney looks sloppy yet does his bit (creatively or in terms of goal scoring) we all applaud. Why does Vidic get criticised for looking sloppy. Its not his job to look elegant. Hes the kind of defender that doesnt mind looking sloppy at times, its part of his game.

I've seen Messi have a few ordinary games too. I cant be specific but his form did dip for a few games in the middle where you'd struggle to spot him in the game. It was rare i admit but it was definitely the case. Infact when they played the bigger sides i remember it was Henry who came up with the goods. Anyway i dont mean to criticise Messi, just saying no one will have a perfect season if anyone is expecting that from any human. But theres also no reason to let a bad performance cloud ones judgement of previous displays.

It doesn't sound sarcastic at all.

I think there's a language breakdown here. And you can't tell properly over the net, considering you can't hear their voices, or see their faces when people say things.

Something like that, Vidic has been the best defender in the world this year. He was lucky not to be sent off for that challenge on martins i think and did have a couple of bad moments since coming back. Now that is natural but i did happen.

YOu are correct, Messi had 2 or 3 games when he was average, when barca went through their slump, their little crisis he wasn't great. But Vidic will react to his mini dip and go back to being imperious, i'm certain of that. Just like Messi went back to ripping teams apart.
