Lionel Messi

That explains the laid back and tbh terrible defending. Still a great piece of skill, but it is the kind of calm composure that would have been a lot more impressive in a competitive game.

Messi is a football God anyway.

Well there is always the goal he scored against Almunia in the CL for total composure

I hope he has a great tournament in 2014 leading Argentina to victory.

Brazil on the other side of the draw surprisingly beat Spain to meet Argentina in the final.

Messi scores a hat trick and gets two assists as argentina win 5-3.

Dream scenario-beat Brazil in Brazil in the final of the World cup.

But fecking hell that defense does need to be sorted out.

He's been on a global professional tour with many of the world's best players

Emulating Pele then. Next time Pele opens his gob, Messi can take is 82 goals, add his showboating tour tally to it and ask him how many goals he ever scored in one season.

Come on, the defenders made it easy for him. Marcelo's just a poor defender and it's a poor challenge - you can see Marcelo knows he fecked up from his reaction right at the end of the gif - and the only other player who even got near him was Juan, a player who's not even made his competitive debut, and he just froze.

It was just rubbish he beats Marcelo then runs 35 yards without anyone putting a tackle in.

So blasting an absolute cracker from outside of the box into the top corner, in the 84th minute, to complete his hattrick, to win the game, against Brazil - Argentina's most fierce rival, no less - is something not to laugh in amazement at?

feck me has the expectations on Messi got this high or are people just trying to find things to pick at him with?

Yeah easy goal... Juan should have closed him down but the movement of Higuain? is it that makes it, as soon as he makes to run across the defenders Messi makes his move into the space. Yes it's simple but if the striker doesnt make that run, Messi wouldnt make that move. And also the finish wasn't exactly easy. But in the 84th minute of an action packed match i guess he deserves a little bit of credit for that goal, being a match winner and a hattrick against the biggest rivals.

Friendly yes but i dont know if Brazil V Argentina is ever friendly.

Any goal that involves someone running 35 yards unchallenged will be picked at, doesn't matter who it is. And it was a friendly against Brazil's Olympics team. It was a nice goal because it was a nice finish but if that's the kind of thing you laugh in amazement at then you must seem be breathing N20 instead of O2, cesc.

Why does he never get hurt anymore?

Why doesn't Ronaldo ever get hurt?

It's not fair.

Been 9 days since he was last talked about. Here's his top 15 dribbles according to this youtube uses (a.k.a. 15 dribbles that didn't end up with him scoring).

Nr. 2 and 3 were very disappointing. Marginally offside and ref messing up.

Barca forums suck. It's much better discussing Barcelona related topics with neutrals rather than fanboys who think Busquets should win the Ballon d'Or.

Best final delivery in the game. That's only from last season. Can't wait to watch him again on Monday.

Sensational.

All the passes were almost identical. The position he takes up on the right side would usually be choked up with players trying to limit his space, but he has that ability and awareness to play that killer pass into the vacant left side of the field for the runners. Barcelona exploit his field influence and ability perfectly with this.

Hernandez would have a field day,

Him with a 25 year old Michael Owen.

Erm... field day in what exactly?

Did you take your meds today Jake?

Well the video had Messi and Ronaldinho on the wings right? That's where they played when both were in the same team ( I think). I think Jake was implying that Owen/Hernandez type poachers would thrive with the service.

Oh ok, ermm yeah, well Eto and Henry playing in front of them weren't too bad either then I would have guessed...

Well, if you are going to be specific, Henry played on the wings (was rotated) and Etoo (while MUCH better than Hernandez and better than Owen in his prime) isn't really a poacher. I think he was referring to poachers specifically.

And the bits about the meds was uncalled for mate.

See video of Messis sublime passing ability, comment on strikers that i would love to see play with them.

must be insane.

Hernandez wouldn't work with Barca, you need to have very mobile and very intelligent players.Players who would be able to combine with Messi like Eto'o and Henry used to, I don't think Hernandez would capable of replicating that type of football.
He'd be out of his depth tbh
