Lionel Messi - Performances

Nothing in the match report, referee for the match heard nothing and 4 match ban 5 1/2 hours before the match for cursing at an assistant referee with one of the most commonly used Argentinian obscenities used by players in just about every match. FIFA gala snub retribution?

Absurd precedent but FIFA being corrupt is not news. Fresher for Barcelona suits me fine but feel for the player, has a painful relationship with the NT now only made worse

The bolivian stadium was sold out just to watch Messi.

Reporters were saying that everyone was trying to sell their tickets just because Leo wasn't going to play. And that a lot of little kids were crying with no consolation because they won't be able to see Messi live.

Why would FIFA want to stop their best and most popular player playing though? Doesn't seem logical to me.

It really is no conspiracy against Messi, Medel got a 3 game ban recently for also cursing the referee, so it seems it's a directive to stop players abusing the refs.

Medel was also placed on 2 year probabtion, Messi hasn't been.

Man that is Maradona level crazyness.

Because ref could not be as much of a pleb as Messi?

All I'm saying is that officials should lash out if they're spoken to like that. There's no being the bigger man when it comes to footballers.

Especially the 4th official. They should tell the managers to get fecked.

Then they couldn't really impose the bans on the players/managers.

Were there candlelit vigils too?

 I'm not sure the intention is ever there, but posts like that always come across so preciously.

I'm sure the intention is always there with lFC 1905.

Remember him posting about 5 images a day of 'please don't leave Leo' after Messi retired after the Copa America.

Even if you don't like it, those things happened, I didn't invent them. And I posted like 3 pictures dude

At least is great to know that somebody pays attention to what you post :D

Argentina's record without Messi is awful. But it's not that much of a surprise. They're a very average and dysfunctional team.

This just confirms that he isn't this Saint that Barca fans characterise him to be as opposed to the selfish and arrogant Ronaldo.

No, Messi is being victimised everywhere. At club level Perez and his evil club, for national team it's FIFA and evil Chile.

Is it logical to allow dangerous play nevermind a headbutt in a WC Final and get less of a ban for an insult after a match was completed that was in no official report?

There's an agenda at play as Pique alluded to after they beat France

What agenda at play? FIFA doesn't want Argentina, one of the biggest football powerhouse, in next WC? They don't want Messi, the designated best player of his generation, at the WC? Not everything is a conspiracy against Barca or its players.

It's not something new, they extended Neymar's ban from one game to 4 games after his red card in 2015 because he abused the referee, Medel was banned for 3 games for abusing the referee.

It's not like they just introduced this law into the game for Messi, it's been in place for a while but his fans can never accept it.

Ignore the barca fanbois, they believe that the whole footballing world is out to destroy barca, pep and messi.

What are you saying? Now FIFA made Zidane headbutt materazzi too? Plus zidane retired from all forms of football after the game. What did you want FIFA to do? Ban him from watching games on tv?

Plus zidane reacted to a provocation by a player where materazzi reportedly insulted his sister or something. What did the ref do to earn the wrath from Messi?

What was Zidane's ban? 3 matches? 4 matches for what Messi did? It's utterly ridiculous

Whilst the rule is absurd and if it's applied consistently, it could mean that many of the players would be suspended but to suggest that there's a Fifa conspiracy against Messi is wrong. Chile had two players banned for swearing at referee(Medel and Valdivia) and it was they who sent the complaint to FIFA about this. FIFA had to act, although it should have been timed better and not relayed to the Argentinian team just 6 hours before the match.

Zidane's ban was symbolic given his retirement. Materazzi got 2 games

In 2006. FIFA decided to crack down harder on that since

Barcelona fans in this stadium are the absolute worst. They make Spurs fans look sane.

The amount of time they cry for conspiracy for everything, starting from the referees not giving them penalties for dives, to referees giving Madrid just penalties, to Messi being banned for swearing to referee (I think it is harsh, but the same can be said for Medel). It is crazy!

Not to mention that messi has been banned from argentina not barca matches, so surely there is a conspiracy(if there exists) against argentina/messi not barca?

Which is the key point. Only Scousers find a decision that happened a decade before in a completely different scenario, which has nothing to do with the current case, to prove a conspiracy (case, Keane got banned for less games than Suarez - when he got banned for racism/biting - when Keane tried to injure a player in 2003, and that showed that FA are corrupt). FCBarca is now being even worse than them, which is an achievement.

I always thought Liverpool believe conspiracy theories more than any, after reading Barca fans posts (not only in RC) Liverpool are nothing compared to Barca fans.
