Liam Delap | £30m release clause?

After Hojlund's performance last night I have zero patience, get Delap if he is willing to come, and then I would push for Jonathan David, 30m for 2 strikers, then spend the money we have elsewhere

Not sure about him. We shouldn't fall into the trap of a cheapie. We don't have 30m to be throwing around.

I'm totally behind this purchase, if you account for INEOS management they would have signed Zirkzee and Delap for the same price as Hojlund. It's good business considering both are better players and if the club can fetch 35-40 million GBP for Rasmus it's even better.

The proceeds from Hojlunds sale can be put towards a more established striker and Joshua is versatile enough to play the number 10. Suddenly a frail attacking array of players has depth with different attacking profiles depending on the type of opponent the club comes up against. I'm massively behind acquiring league proven talent. There's less of a risk associated and the said players can transition quicker especially next season where Amorim realistically won't be given the patience for poor results compared to this season.

Delap, Cunha and Jonathan David would provide a massive upgrade to our attack. Sell Garnacho to fund the moves and send Hojlund out on loan.

Doesn't sound like names that would take us back to the top. We need better players.

I think we will go for him first and if he chooses Chelsea we'll push out for Osimhen. He looks like a player thats the mould of what we want (young, proven to get double digits in the PL for a poor team at least, room for growth, homegrown and very reasonable on transfer fee)

Primarily about us being interested in Cunha, but also reiterates that Delap is "high in thoughts at United"

So we want a hard working team but go for Cunha? Makes it make sense.

He's a hard working player normally, it's just one stat seems to have set a lazy narrative.

We need players who carry the ball and he's one of the best in the league at it so he'd be an excellent signing

We have spent so poorly over the last decade that we have to now shop from a lower rung, and that is okay. Both Cunha and Delap would improve us massively. If we can get them both done for £80-90m, it'd be a great deal.

Why are Cunha and Delap considered 'lower rung ' ?

These are two players the top 6 sides would love in their squads.

Would buzz my tits off with Cunha and Delap, both got a nasty streak too.

You need to be a but of a cnut to play for Man United.

I guess it depends on perspective. You might feel that a player is good enough for top 6 but is that the end game? United should be targeting players that can win the PL rather than get them into the European places and so for many Delap and Cunha are fine for the latter but not good enough for the former. Ideal Spurs players in other words.

Cunha, yes. Delap is probably not good enough for a Champions League side. And yes, he'd walk into our side with us hovering in 14th place.

If people thought Rashford was lazy and infuriating, you’ll have fun with Cunha, laziest player in the league and statistically too.
Everytime when I watched him play, what I saw: he works hard, helps the defense, and likes to press.

Rather spend the 62.5m on Gyokeres or Osimhen and then sign a 30/35m no10, than signing Cunha and Delap

And before anyone starts talking about wages Cunha already earns double what Gyokeres does now and his transfer fee will be a bit more at 62.5m

I'm happy to believe it's just a lazy narrative, but I would just note that if it is then it's one a lot of Wolves fans seem to have bought into too. His attitude seems to get quite a bit of criticism from their fans, especially given he is obviously their best player. It might be unfair, but it's there.

All these players we are apparently linked with who have release clauses. Unless we have a serious amount of cash to pay upfront its total nonsense.

You're definitely looking down on these players Cunha especially. Outside Salah and Saka no Liverpool and Arsenal forward is an upgrade. Same thing for City forwards outside of Haaland. As for Delap he could be a solid EPL striker without being top notch or maybe the likes of Amorim and Wilcox has spotted something I haven't

I didn't say that was my perspective, just the perspective of those doubting them as targets for United.

It's possible Gyokeres wants CL football and team fighting for top prizes while Osimhen wants Casemiro level wages, whereas Cunha is open to playing here and within our wage structure

No chance at either because both will want CL football which we are unlikely to get. Cunha and Delap is a more than adequate duo. But if I had to choose one to trigger the clause on, it would be Cunha. But if we have the funds to sign both, we need to go for it.

Why? Cunha has done it in England - 25 goals in 58 apps for Wolves as a no. 10 and has the versatility to play across the front 3.

We're not shopping at the top table, and getting top 6 means you can start recruiting top 4+ players. Our problem has been signing players on wages which make them unmoveable. If we stop that, we can move these "top 6" players on once if no longer good enough.

I agree with this, the absolute best possible striker we can sign should be by far our first priority in the summer.

Pretty sure we don't have the luxury of having that choice.

Joint first with a goalkeeper who provides more security than a wet paper bag.

I agree but I don't think you need to spend big money to get a reliable keeper. We don't need a prime Schmeichel right now. Just a solid keeper who will do his job without fuss.

You may have said the same about Robertson, Wijnaldum or Jota when Liverpool signed them at a time when they couldn’t attract the real top players. Yet they all have or likely will win a PL being first choice. You don’t need 11 superstars in the first team to win the league. The main goal should be to find 11+ players that complement each others strengths and have the right mentality. Even City had a cheap signing like Akanji that not many clubs were interested in at the time who was a first 11 player in their treble winning season.

Are clauses only for upfront cash?

So who do people want as we aren't getting Osimhen or Gyokeres, also suspect Sesko and Ekitike head elsewhere too

Moise Kean is having a great season and is back in the Italy team and scoring there too, allegedly his contract with Fiorentina includes a 40M release clause. I would go for him over Delap personally, much more rounded game and tremendously athletic.

Not the most appropriate thing to say but his countenance puts me off, has a very douchey look about him.

Obviously he could be a fantastic and upstanding person but can't help that first impression.
