Let's all laugh at England

I can’t post on the general forum so I’m going to put this here. I have come to a point in my life where I can’t go on. I am getting ready and I am going to drive up to the hills near my house and finish things. I have thought long and hard about it and there is no other option I can see apart from leaving. I just wanted someone to know before it happens . I am going to obviously message my family with the reasons. Enjoy life and don’t make major mistakes like I have.
Don't do that. Please.

Where’s this come from? PM me

Why do people care if United players play for England? It's a separate thing... City and Liverpool players play for them too... And United players usually get crucified and made into scapegoats anyway.

feck international football.

I know this is probably a joke but please confirm that you're not being serious.

There is help out there Blackbeard. Talk to someone please. Don’t do this, you will destroy your family.

I will try not to go off the rails! I actually love Utd too. They are my second team hence why I’m on this forum. I respect your love for Utd. I was probably a little drunk last night and hurting over the loss.

Thank you very much for your understanding. I am not laughing as the thread topic says. I am just relieved that England didn't win. Honestly for the only reason if they had won and got thru they might win the darn thing and the French
was the best bet to stop them.
As English I understand that you would want your country to win and I perfectly accept it.
I don't understand why United fans who are English are happy that England lost. But all to their choices. But as a non English I understand why foreign fans are or maybe happy that England lost. It's that respect and understanding that English United fans should have. We are only Manchester United fans and not fans of England football team.

Tried this once (well 1.5 times), didn't work & only put me into a coma & made things immediately worse. Hope you are ust taking the piss, else please PM me.

We didn't build that wall for nothing you know. :p
I feel like most Scots would like the wall rebuilt but with some turrets on it,maybe a moat with sharks fitted with lasers put around it.

Or maybe that is just me.

I enjoy England losing as much as the next Scotsman, but gotta say the ref was on one
When Rashford stepped over that free kick I found myself slipping in to United mode hoping he’d stick it in the top corner. Don’t tell anyone though or I might get kicked out of Scotland.

What things are allowed?

Brexit benefit - became a French citizen five years ago because of it and have a chance of winning two World Cups in five years - cheers to the xenophobic morons
Mate, if I could get a French passport I absolutely would. Nobody hates the Tories and their psychopathic, self serving decision-making processes more than the people that have to live under it. If it's a conversation about how bad the government is, I'm game. This is a conversation about football, though, so it doesn't feel relevant to bring up political points.

Not sure I can find the passion for Utd right now, still absolutely broken and wondering what the heck went wrong.

I understand and feel your pain. I have been thru it. Just have to bear and actually forget about it. To be honest I thought England would beat Croatia in the previous WC than last night. I always felt that the French could shift gears while England was in top gear.

Not sure you can have an ounce of football credibility here. You have taken glory hunter to a whole new level.
Cant believe Im defending England fans here but a Englishmen saying they could win 2 WC because they got a French passport is a bit pathetic.
If France lose the semi give me a shout and Ill give you the number for the Moroccan embassy.

Out of interest when was this published? I cant see a date.

I ask because I remember when I was young and I heard that England fans sung 'stand up if you hate Man Utd' and took it as a compliment because they hated how much a team from Manchester dominated English football. I just don't see it anymore.

Nowadays it seems that this english team all get on with one another unlike the golden generation and actually perform to a higher level. Also United aren't dominating like we used to.

The general concensus around manchester during the world cup is an overwhelming support for England by reds and equally blues.

This notion about mancunian United fans not supporting England is false. If you were in any pub within the M60 last night you would've seen it for yourself. I reckon 1 or 2 Mancunian united fans I know who would've been happy to see England get beat last night.

Edit: I defo know one guy who would've supported france but that's about it.

Absolutely. I think most in this thread can completely see this! I don't think anyone is arguing that united fans SHOULD support England. Just that it's a bit odd for fans of an English club to actively dislike the country itself and its people, given the clubs provenance.

That's a bit contradictory, indeed. However, it could happen, e.g., as a child Cantona was one's idol and fall in love with the club in the process, but then a negative event changed the attitude towards England. Some cases it might even cause cognitive dissonance, depends on the extremes of feelings. It's another question whether this is the right place to express these feelings.

I know. I am actually quite chilled about the result last night, we put up a good fight, which is more than some teams have. Was more disgruntled about losing the Euros final. Some England fans are always going to moan, that is more than likely down to a superiority complex regarding England's place in the world. They will never change.
Well you lost to arguably the best team in competition having outplayed them.

You have a very good young team with bright future.

Lemme tell you something. Portugal was ridiculed as the "what if" who constantly lost in crucial matches. We always played great technical flair football, only to fail at the most important thing, score a goal when it mattered. When we won the Euro and Nations League (to a lesser degree) it was an incredible feeling.

I draw some parallelism between England and Portugal national team wise. When you win it, you will feel the same and the haters will suck it.

England, France and Brazil seem like the most complete teams with a bright future. Portugal, Argentina, Croatia or Belgium will lose their references in the near future and will have to reset and restart new cycles.

It's a matter of time for England in my opinion. I'd be more worried about United who clearly lost the edge.

Don’t do it and don’t be afraid to seek help from people close to you or the services. Don’t do it.

How do you feel about your manager staying on, or will it only matter if Ronaldo is still hanging about as well.

Agree with this. I wanted Rashford to score as well. Football is so weird.
If it had been Kane though, I would have wanted him to trip over the ball and do his ACL

But it is a reason why people don't like England. Personally before Brexit I felt both British and French. Now the only connection I feel is with Manchester United. Don't feel British at all.

This needs highlighting. Anyone know any contact information for him?

Why do you guys hate Portugal when portuguese players and coaches have been integral part in some of the most successful periods of United's history?

I take exception to that.

Sporting should be the second team you like the most as well (sorry for Rojo)

That's just a recent thing because of you know who. I'm sure by next WC it will have dissipated.

Hey my man, an advice I once heard from someone who was suicidal: You will die anyway at some point in time. So please don’t kill yourself, everything will happen eventually and on the ride you can always change your life.

Seek out to people! Actively. Call an ambulance, someone you know, or even someone on this forum. We will all gladly help you, whatever your situation. No judgements. We want you here in this life, no matter the mistakes you made.

To be fair, he was not laughing at Kane. It is a scream of joy and relief.
Being objective. I kind of agree.
I think the TV/press are trying to find a story here out of nothing. Celebrating your opponents missing a pen is pretty normal. Its not like he ran up to him and screamed in his face.

Have to say, it's pretty funny watching all the salt in here, but as-per, shit has to get serious for no reason whatsoever.

All-in-all, I think it was a relatively poor match and it was even enough. I feel France let England have a-lot of the ball, as they (England) lack pace and creativity. England probably shaded it tbh, but I don't see all these positive signs for the future. International teams are all relatively meh at the moment, so with a-bit of luck, I suppose England have as good a chance as anyone.

How do you feel about your manager staying on, or will it only matter if Ronaldo is still hanging about as well.
I'll root against Portugal if he stays. You will notice by my posting in the Caf.

But I got the nationality before the first World Cup win.:). Otherwise I would be German if I was glory hunting. Not forgetting I have lived in France for over 15 years and my wife is French and she was supporting England last night, being an anglophile.

Can't even begin to forget about it while the damn competition is still on,then got those three days until league Cup tie to cope with as well

My office is based in Manchester. They all support either Utd, City and 1 Liverpool ugh.
All of them supported England passionately

Doesn't matter which thread, your post is being read. I could joke and say that supporting Bristol City is the cause of your troubles but they won yesterday.
But seriously mate, please don't do anything silly.
Life is precious and despite your current feelings, take a bit of time to think back at those happier moments in your life.
I honestly wish I could find the right words to make you change your mind.
But I am not very good at that kind of thing.
So all I can say is Bristol City are a lot better than Bristol Rovers.

Unless you were under the age of 7 when you moved to France, I'm not having it. :nono:

Mate please dont do anything! Take a breath!

Please dont do anything!

1998 was the turning point. The vitriol Beckham received, he was booed at every away game and it felt like a siege mentality as his only support came from us United fans, they had burning fecking effigies of the bloke. I still couldn't totally shake off my support but then with the shite United players received, I went to an England game at the old Wembley and all that seemed to be sung around me was "Stand up if you hate United". I received racial abuse from my 'fellow' fans that day too as I sat there in my England shirt. I was about 14 years old.

Then into the mid 00's came this media and player arrogance, Owen stating "I don't think any of the Croatian team would get into our team" after England went out in qualifying. The John Terry racism incident meant feck all as he was still picked for England as Rio stayed home, not sure if he was still captain but that was a disgrace. Then the racial abuse the likes of Rashford, Sancho and Saka received. I forgot the abuse Hargreaves received just because he didn't play for an English club at the time, I mean he was only playing for UCL winners Bayern Munich

I've probably missed other reasons too like how unlikable Gerrard, Terry, Ashley Cole, Owen were,

I could go on with how the press and Hoddle treated Andy Cole or how the media hounded Cristiano Ronaldo after 2006 and went on about how he should be 'battered' when he comes back to England.

Due to all of this, its United > England
You summed up my exact situation too. I went from crying as an 8 year old when England went out in 98 to pissing myself everytime they bottle it. Pretty much for the exact same reasons as you.

Mistakes can be worked out over time. Don't do anything rash. Is there anyone you can call?
Things will always improve, even if it seems like there was is no way through. There are plenty of people here happy to chat if we can help.
