The support for Rashford, Sancho and Saka (especially the letters Rashford posted from kids) has been absolutely beautiful. I literally started reading the letters out to colleagues at work today on my lunch break and felt emotional. It sparked a conversation about Harry Kane's statement today and how good it is that white athletes now actually speak out rather than avoiding the subject and saying they don't want to comment on "political" matters as they did in the past.
Yeah this is the bracket of weirdos I'm on about.
I think what I'm struggling with is the irony of it all. Some want to talk as though they are shining beacons of morality but then are quite happy to make very offensive comments about a whole nation of people. Comments which if you said in public you'd be getting yourself locked up over. Lazy ethnic stereotyping.
It's as though because it's the English it's okay. Not cool.

One thing that makes me sad is how this happens despite how multi cultural England is, yet there is still this nonsense. 2 of my best friends are first generation British with Pakistani parents. They receive racism from white people who hate Pakistani's AND white people who hate the English. Can't fecking win.

This is indeed beautiful side of England and you should be surely proud of it - that the guys like Kane feel absolutely natural saying a strong go feck yourself to racists, that Rashford gets more of love messages than hate. I also had a small but notable tear in my eye reading the letters Sir Marcus received and how he handled the situation with absolute class and dignity of a juggernaut.
I'm all for banter and a few laughs but like you've said above, I'm not for all that.
I'm more surprised it's not been clamped down on by the mods but it is what it is
I mean I'm all for being against the England football team but I'm not sure the fact that their fans booed their players when they made an anti-racism gesture is a good reason to then want those same players to lose.
If anything it would have been the silver lining if they won, because at least the racists and people complaining about them being too woke would have to suck it and hail them as champions.
