Let's all laugh at England

This is what stands out to me. Some of the most vocal and insulting posters to our Manager and some of our players are playing victim now and acting as top reds.

Great thread though.

Yeah, clear agenda driven nonsense from the holier than thou posers, preaching support when they don't practice it themselves.

The threads popping up and blaming x,y, and z is exactly why I can't stand the idiots on here.

Bringing Ole in to this, blaming Rashford or Sancho when they barely played in the whole tournament, much less this match. As if no other manager has lost a final or PK shoot out, conveniently forgetting the trophies he has won and peddling that can he ever win anything.

My sympathies are with the players, the fans can feck off.

Exactly. In 1996 it was good song because England was hosting the tournament, it was like "welcome in the home of the inventors of football" instead of "we deserve it more than you because we're English". Now England had an unfair advantage by getting so many home games and had the number of away fans seriously restricted. So it doesn't only reflect the general sense of entitlement but also to the entitlement to have advantages like that. Just like being pretty lucky with the refereeing throughout the tournament is taken for granted.

England and Brazil are in a league of their own when it comes to chauvinism in sport. In the other nations the chauvinism is strong too, but it's limited by the awareness that it's the same for the other side. The question to Schmeichel showed a total lack of respect and empathy by assuming there's something special about England as a competitor and it's claim to the title a Dane would understand. In general I like BBC coverage but when England is involved it's all powers of accurate observation and analysis are gone.
Talk about making things up. When has anyone ever said this.

I'm glad the racist bastards showering Saka, Rashford and Sancho with abuse right now get nothing, and that their little nationalist wankfest is cut short. Disgusting excuses for human beings.

Yep, thank god those progressive and inclusive Italians saved us all from the racists.

Please do.

Right now a purge of all of the plastic fans would be advantageous.

There’s anti England fans in this thread giving shit to one of our legends, Rio

I have also woken up to see that both Rashford and Sancho received racist abuse on social media.

Please go away, all of you. We do not need this toxicity in our fan base. You can find one of the nouveau plastic clubs, but leave our institution alone.

Bellends

If this is the attitude of the club I'd support, maybe it's best I find something else.

English United fans getting on the high horse “You cannot support United if you don’t support England, go support your local team” - as if everyone of them is from proper Manchester…
Tbh this logic is as stupid and as braindead as the "if you like watching a Hollywood movie you must like the US".

Still going this morning

There are some genuinely funny posts in this thread, and the majority of them are tongue in cheek/good old fashioned bantz/whatever. We as England fans have no trouble laughing ourselves anyway, we've been doing that for decades

The thing with all the "it's coming home" home stuff is that it has meme-ified supporting England. And the downside to that is that it then gets used as currency when you lose as well, because that's how memes work. Rather than just being a self-deprecating song, it has become some other weird tag for supporting and then shitting on the England football team.

I mean one of the first things you saw after Italy won was Bonucci screaming "it's coming, Rome" straight down the camera lense and then later he was trying to sing an altered version of it. That's the level it's registering with people on.

Really bizarre to me too. I’m sure these same United fans had no issue singing arrogant songs like “we’ll do what we want”, but somehow get offended by its coming home.

I also thought the “it’s coming Rome” stuff, or the jokes before the Denmark game about it never being home were pretty funny. Isn’t that just normal fan banter?

It's only banter if England's winning

other than that we're xenophobic anti England

Dish shit, but can't take shit

The best thing is, I’m off to work with some Italians now.

Exactly, I find it weird that people refuse to admit the meaning of it has slightly changed from the original song it came from. It seems obvious to me. There’s tweets in this very thread of fans not using it in a self depreciating way.

I actually think it’s a great song and had the tune in my head most of the tournament, strangely the only lyrics I have in my head this morning are , they’re gonna throw it away gonna throw it away.

I will say, I thought it was great how the England players surrounded those who missed, stark contrast to how France acted after mbappe missing.

There's banter and that's fine, then there's some of the obvious nastiness in this thread. Some posters are showing themselves to be quite unpleasant.
It's quite the eye-opener.

Some are also showing themselves as seriously bad losers and giving some over the top shit back I suppose

What do you think It's Coming Home actually means?

In return, the FA could teach you what negrito actually means.
No one cares what it actually means, because England aren't singing it after losses or sing the other stuff outside of "it's coming home" which the media plaster on their front pages as soon as England is doing well in the knockout rounds.
It isn't self-deprecation when it's written & sung in celebration.

The most entertaining international team without ever playing any good football.

Why would they sing it after a defeat, Are English fans not allowed to hope for a win?
This is dumbest take I've seen so far.

I hadn't realised that fans write the tabloids, and were supposed to stay silent rather than celebrate progression in a tournament.

I'm laughing too hard. Feck some of the idiots on Caf throughout the Euros who thought the trophy was just theirs, given to them by right, and who supported booing of national anthems. The amount of arrogance and delusional self-insight has been at an all-time high.

Until England as a country can learn to respect opponents - and have respect for other nation's fans, unlike with what happened yesterday and also the whole farce of the online "slaughter" of the crying German girl. Man England and their fans deserve this and had it coming.
