Let’s sign Gareth Bale

I think this all depends on the fee. I'd say go for it if it's anything below 100 million, 100-150 would be risky, but I wouldn't want him for any more than 150 million as I doubt we'd make any other signings.

If this is realistic, I would take Bale, a full back, and one centre mid, whilst selling Martial and be happy with the window.

Interestingly he has played a number of games for Real this season through the centre. He could be another option after Lukaku. I do wonder how Lukaku ruling himself out starting in the FA Cup Final will affect his position in Mourinho's eyes. I wouldn't be surprised if the new striker we are signing plays more than we might expect.

How do you know about the egos of Sanchez and Bale? Have you even met them?

Pogba okay, he can come across that way perhaps.

You can say what you like but we lacked goals this season and Willian isnt a man to change that. Even if he's playing for free.
When I am talking about egos, I am mainly referring to the attitude these players show on the bench. As in if things are not going well, they are still able to give a 7 out of 10 performance rather than roll over and give a 0-3out of 10 performance as we seen with the metric given to Sanchez already this season. Bale has that in him where he would not fight and given a decent performance when things are not going well. We need players who gives consistent 7/10 performance or higher rather than players who gives 10/10 on one day and 2/10 on the others. Bale is not starting for Real because of lack of consistency in his performance. Perhaps that will change at United, but with our two other star players putting in inconsistent performance, it will be hard to see Bale at his best when the team is not on the same wavelength.

Willian is a consistent 7/10 or higher player. Whenever I watch him play, I have never said, his performance was complete shite. He may not score as much goals as Bale, but he will definitely get the best out of players like Lukaku and give us a more solid foundation in attack and defense, especially if we are adopting a high pressing system.

In hindsight, we probably should have let City have Sanchez and us sign Bale. His fitness record would probably mean Martial and Rashford don't permanently get left on the bench as well.

I've said this like 5 times now on this thread, Its a Squad for a reason. Lingard and Rashford will stay and be happy to play second fiddle, Rashford especially could learn masses of Bale given both of there play styles. Martial will have to put up a fight to start vs Sanchez, but I do thi m he will get game time. Don't forget Injuries always happen regardless of the player.

Are there genuinely people who don’t want to sign a player who has scored more than 1 every 2 games, scored the winning goal in 3 of the 5 cup finals he’s played, and won more champions leagues in the last 5 years than our club has done in its history?

Have a word with yourself folks.

Seriously I can't believe there are people who wouldn't want us to sign Bale. He would instantly be the best player in the squad and also sort out a position we haven't had in years. He said it himself, he was hurt in the first month or so but then ever since then he's been fit. If he wants to come its a no brainer.

But I don't want four 21-26 year olds who may or may not be class.

Bale WILL be class.

Just like Sanchez? Mourinho's system ensures no one on 600k/week wages is assured of being "class". And the more playing time crocked Bale gets, the more likely he is to miss a lot of matches due to injury. Real limited his playing time so he could be useful in big end of season matches. Real could afford to do that because of their quality depth. United can't.

I thought there needed to be an actual semi reliable transfer rumour for there to be a thread in the Transfer Forum

If he is dead set on leaving Real, PL is the only option i feel. I'd guess United would be in the forefront considering the money he's on currently, that is if they want him at all.

You know it's a stupid transfer when one goal in the CL final raises his price from around £50-60m to £150m. For the former price I'd give it a punt, any higher than £70m then no.

He's 29 in the summer. His body's already regressed to the point where he can't dribble like he used to. We need to be building for the next 5 years, not signing players for ludicrous amounts and then hoping they recapture former glory that they no longer have.

Are there no 25 year old wide players available in the world? Even Mahrez I'd rather have at £70m for the simple fact that we'll have him for 40+ games in a season. The sole reason Real are so reluctant to play him as a starter and instead play him as a sub is because they're worried he'll get injured again.

He hardly ever plays well when he's played in the centre.

I would personally would be against this transfer as I don't think he fits our team anywhere near he does the Madrid team. Like Ronaldo, he isn't involved in the build up play and relies on people creating chances from him. Real Madrid can supply him, Manchester United at the moment can't.

Can't see either moving though.

He’s started the rumour himself by saying he’s not happy about the amount of games he’s playing and that he’ll discuss the situation with his agent.

 Didn't mean to sound so glum. But unless we fix the fundamentals of how we play football and attack as a team we could sign all the stars in the world and it wouldn't make much of a difference.
Spot on

There is zero chance of him going to Spurs.

It would be financially impossible for them.

It's simply not true. Of course a great attacking system will further elevate those players, but the World's best players can do it regardless of system. Look at Griezmann at Atleti, Hazard at Chelsea over the years etc.

Gareth Bales best position is right inside striker in a 3 but he can play CFW, left or right wing or as a No 10 as he does for Wales, all positions we are currently not blessed with any Elite Options. This deal is a no brainer but only if the deal makes sense for United and not just Madrid or Gareth Bale. The following conditions must included in any proposed transfer between Madrid and United;

1. Maximum Transfer Budget of £70M
2. No discussion of David De Gea being included in any deal!
3. Basic Salary of 200k per week with appearance and goal/ assist bonus where he could earn up to 400k per week for 25 premier league Goals 8 Champions League Goals and 15 combined assists and 35 appearances.
4. 3 year with a plus 1 contract (taking him to 33)
5. Anthony Martial is not sold but is allowed to be loaned out to Juventus for 1 year
6. Taith Chong is developed and Gareth helps with his development playing in the right wing position.
7. The deal breaker and most important condition, he must learn the language and speak Mancunian!

At his very best he's still in the top 10 players in the World as he proved in his 30 minute cameo last night which automatically elevates him above all of our current outfield players without debate.

Not a single one of our attackers has had a particularly good season, and Sanchez has been a shadow of his former self so far. It's not a coincidence.

Lukaku has had a good season, I'd argue very good, we don't look nearly as good without him in the side. Systems are far more important for players like Martial and Rashford, young players lacking experience. Bale isn't in that category, he's a World wide superstar and has done it at Spurs. The best players are capable of doing it regardless of system (I'd say Personnel is still extremely important though). They could be elevated further by attacking systems though, mind.

Also Sanchez himself looked like a shadow of himself before he joined us. He had a poor first half of the season at Arsenal. That being said, given the whole City saga last summer, it's understandable. He's also only joined the club in January and hasn't even had a preseason with us, coming into the fold when we had some extremely difficult games, so judgement on whether or not he's really been a failure shouldn't be finalised until next season.

The only way I see Bale coming here and not making a huge difference is if he continues being a crock. If he can stay fit he would be one of the best players in the league, if not the best.

70m pounds is not enough. Is not that what Liverpool paid for Van Dijk?. A player who has won the Champions final in half an hour and who has very good numbers despite not playing too much. One thing is that Madrid are willing to sell and another is to give him as a gift.
If Bale is worth 70, then according to merits we could bid for Martial by paying 35?

Everything about Bale to Utd fits, the profile of both,a merchandising dream along with the Adidas influence, think this sort of deal is going to be just too good for all parties concerned to turn down!

We need to stop talking about the price. When you make the amount of money that Manchester United "The Business" do each year, then nobody should feel guilty about any money we spend for on the pitch matters. The reason we're such a strong commercial success is because of what we used to do on the pitch. We're basically a walking brand who doesnt compete in the league or in Europe anymore. Whatever the price, we shouldnt ever say "it's too much." Players like Bale are worth the risk.

What is encouraging is that Mourinho was essentially begging for him to hand a transfer request in last year. Jose loves this guy. Get Sanchez and Pogba firing, and add some new additions to the middle and the back 4 and we'll be well in with a chance at anything.

Ed Woodward will be licking his lips at the thought of signing Bale this summer.

Come to think of it , he has nowhere to go other than us if he really wanted to leave.
Chelsea/Arsenal are not in UCL
Spurs/Juve/Bayern won't afford his wage
PSG have FFP
He won't go to Barca and definitely not to Liverpool
Only us & City are possible destination.

This could be RVP 2.0 for us if it does happen, no matter the age if they're currently playing at their top level it'll always be a worth while signing.

I'd be down to swap him for Martial, If Madrid insisted on a player. We value Martial at what? £60m-£70m, Real would want £80m for bale.
Martial plus £20m for Bale? thats if they are even interested in Martial.

I feel like im flogging Martial just so Bale would get Giggsys 11 shirt, no way in hell is Martial allowing us to swap his shirt no. again

No one will buy Martial for 60M.

This.

The richest club in the world needs Superstar playing in her team. There is no bigger star than Bale available this summer, and he also plays in RW, a position Man Utd that badly need reinforcement. A superstar comes with big transfer fee and wages. If you want players on cheap salary you can go shopping in Stoke.

i would say no more than 15M if Bale is 70M. What has Martial done last 2 season? People are still talking about his potential when he is already 22. Henry was Arsenal striker at this age (season 99/00) scored 44 goals, and Bale ripped the EPL apart when he was 24.

Bale would be one of the better signings we could make then. He's a true leader who can pretty much do it all by himself in attack, just give him the ball and he makes shit happen.
