Leon Goretzka | Bayern player in the summer

I think you read it wrong or I didn't post correctly. You can sign pre contract with players from other league but not from PL teams to PL teams. Not sure for Chevy l correct that is but that's the rule in FM and they are usually correct.

Makes sense, probably why the EPL is more competitive, but it's still hampering the bigger English clubs over their European counterparts, guess it's what you value more?

I've heard a lot about him, But I've never seen him play, I don't believe SSN on this one. They are crap when it comes to transfer news nowadays.

Why would Bayern sign him when they already have Tolisso? Has he flopped?

It's almost as if everyone has just forgotten how unreliable Sky Sports are.

You guys know not to put any faith in SSN, right?

Well if their story is that Man Utd are "interested" in signing Goretzka, what's not to believe? That's a not a huge relevation. He's a top midfield prospect and a free agent in summer, basically every big club is "interested" in him to some degree. How forcefully they decide to pursue that interest is another story.

We cannot not clamp him down in some way. Bad enough that Sané is playing for City now.

A tall and strong midfielder, who is also good on the ball. Fits into a Jose team. Must be dozens of clubs trying to get a 22 year old very promising midfielder on a free. Also think he must surely go to Bayern.

I'm afraid he could turn up as another average player for us. Another Ander? ... not sure he's world class midfielder and I've watched a lot of Schalke's games.

Tolisso is okayish, but we'd also do good to have options to fill in for Vidal and Thiago.

I think he didn't have a great start but has done better since Heynckes came in. Vidal has had his problems with alcohol/discipline in the past but not sure if they're sorted now.

Maybe we will offer money in january to sign him? Like 10 odd million to schalke?
Another advantage is that Bayern cant speak to him till the summer while we can.

You have to be naive to think Bayern don’t have ways of contacting him though. I’m virtually positive all clubs are tapping up these days, you even have media outlets reporting that players have agreements with clubs before a bid has been been made, and this for players that sometimes have years left on their contacts. Technically that shouldn’t be allowed but it doesn’t even be given a second though.

He's a young midfielder, whose 6ft2, who scores as many goals as a striker (6 goals in 13 games this season), he's pretty hardworking and whose soon be on free. So really I can't understand why we wouldn't be interested in him. He's basically a club's wet dream. He's basically a Fellaini if his talent was concentrated at his lower part of the body rather then his chest and elbows

What @Maradona10 is writing is just not true. Not only are we allowed to officially speak to him fron January 1st, he's also allowed to sign a contract with us on the same day.
IF indeed it's already agreed that he'll join us (which I doubt), then we'll likely see him signing for us in the first few days of January.

Weren't there quite a few reports in the summer of Goretzka to Bayern being as good as done? He might do well to avoid Bayern and their band of about 8 midfielders but I can't say I trust the battered reputation of 'Sky sources' either.

He's the future of German football. If Man Utd signed him it would be a huge blow to Bayern Munich. In terms of giftedness he's got almost everything, physique, technique, creativity, discipline, work output. He could play as a box-to-box in the double pivot, as a 10, maybe even on the right wing. The next big star of world football.

Every club would be interest to sign him for free. But everyone knows Bayern is the chosen one.

We should offer him some silly sign on bonus that the stingy Bayern won't match.

Never think it is going to happen though, German players seem to prefer playing in their domestic league.

Can’t we just offer his club some money now to sign him in January instead of letting Bayern get him on a free? Give the player a better contract offer than what Bayern is offering.

Great idea. Not sure whether people at your club have thought of that. You should email them.

Fair enough, I'm personally not sure on the rules, but as I say, they mean very little these days anyway. Even if Bayern aren't allowed to speak to him, I'm about 80% confident he's going there and 70% confident they already have a verbal agreement in place with him and his agent.

Outside of that, I can see him possibly going to Juve, or maybe even Barca. But I just have a feeling he would prefer to stay in Bundesliga and obviously Bayern are the club to play for there.

I personally don't know the ins and outs of the pre-contracts rules but regardless, even if Bayern won't allowed to speak to him officially, I would be still be willing to bet that they have managed to sort things out with him and his agent off the record and already have an agreement in place (of course whether it being verbal and not binding is another matter, but still, I am 90% certain he's going to Bayern and about 75% confident they already have an agreement in place).
Obviously, clubs speak to agents, and thus indirectly to players, all the time. So yes, it's very possible a deal is already agreed, and if it is, Goretzka can officially sign in January (a contract beginning June). Same thing happened with Lewandowski. Goretzka's agent was seen visiting our club HQ in summer, which is where a good part of the speculation came from.
I'm not sure where your get your percentages from though. I'm not at all as certain.

Isn't that more of a reason for him to want Bayern than it is for Bayern to want him?

Ah ok, thanks. Do you guys think he and Tolisso will be happy rotating once Vidal moves on?

I edited my post and lowered it a bit. But I explained why, I just see him preferring to stay in Bundesliga and there's only 1 club he will play for there if he does. I think Bayern will definitely be in for him as I'm sure they'll want to snap up one of Bundesliga's and Germany's best young midfield talents for free, so I'm not sure I can see him turning them down.

I think Juve and Barca are probably the other options. Juve are always looking for good midfielders and a bargain, whilst Barca were rumoured to be looking at Seri and other midfielders in the summer and again, will like the fact that he comes free and they can spend the rest of the Neymar money in other areas.

To be honest, your question regarding 'why Goretzka when Tolisso' (or rather, why did we spend 40+m on Tolisso if Goretzka for next summer is already agreed) is a very good one, and one that leads me to question the validity of the notion that it's certain Goretzka is joining us.

I have no idea of which role they are supposed to play and at whose expense, as we frankly have no idea who will be our coach and what formation he will use.
So I'd say, good question to which there's no answer.
Maybe there is a masterplan at Bayern, but maybe there isn't.

Dont know him well, but being a regular for Germany at 22 imply that he is a special talent. Have also been a regular international at underage german teams since he was 16. Seems tall, fast, strong and technically sound.

Considering the need for several players if Carrick and Fellini leaves, we should be interested. Next summer might prove expensive.

Was the captain for the Germany Olympic team too, though was ruled out early on with injury.

With a 3 man midfield you don’t need that security there and can go more offensive

We would essentially play a 4-3-3 with Goretzka
---- Martial ----- Lukaku ----- Ozil ----
------ Pogba -------------- Goretzka ---
---------------- Matic -------------------
