Leon Goretzka | Bayern player in the summer

Presumably Goretzka has given indications to bayern that he'd like to join without having actually decided yet. Bayern then overplayed their hand and told the world he's signing.
Good story. Possible. But very unlikely. :)

I don't think Bayern 'told the world' he's signing. A number of German journalists with good sources, from SportBild to kicker to Honigstein, have been certain Goretzka joins Bayern.
They have been talking to people close to the matter without a doubt, whether on Goretzka's side or Bayern's.
They've not been talking to himself directly, surely, so as I said, until he signs there's always a chance he changes his mind.

Sorry, I deleted my post and misunderstood yours, I thought you meant Khedira was still part of Real Madrid’s midfield and didn’t notice you were also alluding to Germany!

Ah don´t worry.

True. I heard Spanish fax machines are tricky. :D
Bayern would want him to come to Säbener Str. to have the medical, get a photo and a proper signing, surely. I think this will happen within the next few days.
But as I said, I'm not 100% confident, yet.

KHR has said they have no agreement with Goretzka and that Goretzka is sent to announce his intentions in the coming days, mentioned that we are after him as well as Barcelona and Real Madrid.

We, in your case means?

Did we not have another poster with the username L1nk who's already a full member?

I just hope that he doesn't get swayed by Klopp and join Liverpool instead. He's a terrific player who will definitely be better than Kroos. Would love him to come to United but don't even know if Mourinho is in for him.

I still think he'll end up at Bayern, can't really see him at Barca and Real Madrid aren't short of CM's.

Think about Goretzka and Özil on a free and Sanchez for 30-35 million  That's too good to be true after years of us wasting our money on the likes of Schneiderlin, Depay etc .

Why not?

IMO him and de Vrij would be excellent business for Barca in the summer.

He just doesn't seem like a Barca type of CM to me, I'd see a Weigl or Joginho more suited to their style, Goretzka is more of an all action box to box, if it wasn't for Bayern I'd say he's ideal for the PL.

I can actually see him going to Madrid. Perez will want to freshen his team up with a new round of galacticos. Kroos or Modric could leave and Goretzka could come in. I can see Kroos being sold for 60-70m and that to be used towards getting Hazard or Neymar

Do they need Weigl or Jorginho though? It's not like Busquets is old or injury-prone. And they've bought Rakitic and Paulinho after all, who could be comparable to a Goretzka signing.

I'd be surprised if they sold Kroos and they still have Kovacic and Ceballos there as well, it's possible if they need to raise that Kane/Hazard money I guess.

I think Rakitic has done well but they've never brought in a controller like Xavi, and with Iniesta getting on they are now without one in any of the CM slots, as I don't see Coutinho in that mold, it's where I could see Jorginho in particular fitting in, and I am guessing that is where they saw Verratti slotting in, do they need to replace Rakitic or Paulinho with Goretzka who will surely want to be an ever present starter? I just don't see it personally.

Bayern are waiting for his signature. They seem to have an agreement and they expect him to sign soon and to announce it officially

Similar to United and Alexis, it is more or less done.

The number of people taking that newbie serious without any sources to back him up is rather funny to be honest.

He just didnt see the past verbal expression and thought other clubs could have a chance since nothing is signed. Rummenigge wouldnt talk like that if it wasnt unofficially done though

Just because i'm a 'newbie' doesn't mean i'm stupid, it just means i'm new to the forum.

"Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, Bayern's executive board chairman, reckons they would be "crazy" not to be interested in Goretzka and is optimistic about hearing the midfielder's final decision.

"We would be crazy if we did not think about signing a German international whose contract runs out," Rummenigge told Sky.

"Now it is up to the player to decide, and it would be nice if he chose Bayern in the end. You only have an agreement when you sign the contract.

"All top clubs like Real Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester United or Juventus wanted him, so it is perfectly legal and normal that the top club from Germany is interested in this player, too. The decision will be taken in a few days."

Yes he will more than likely still be going to Bayern, but I only posted what I read about the situation and what KHR has said, now whether something was lost in translation in the interview or people are completely misrepresenting what was actually said is not really my fault, is it.

Obviously. Saying that there isn't anything to announce until a medical is done and then talking like this....well, it's always been like that, really.

I can see Coutinho doing it. Messi is probably going to drop deeper as he gets older as well, and he does a fair bit of a controller already. Mostly it depends on what formation they are going to use. If it's 4-2-3-1, Messi, Coutinho and Busquets as playmakers would suffice IMO. But they might feel the same way you do. Jorginho is IMO restricted to Busquets role though.

Rummenigge - Bayern CEO
Cheers. Really weird though, spreading the word like that..

Göretzka, Özil, Lindelöf.. Make it happen, and I can make proper use of my Swedish keyboard.

I've aways thought of Coutinho as more of a dynamic attacker than a controller, but you could be right mate. With Jorginho I think he could play between the holder and the AM in a midfield 3, kinda like at Napoli where Allan often drops behind when he's on the ball.

Guy needs clicks. And even what you posted now is far from what you posted originally.

Rummenigge said two days ago: " I talked with Uli lately and we are agreed, it may happen that we sign a player in the price range of €80 to €100 million."

I don't think that Bayern needs to spend 100 million because they get players like Goretzka for free.
We would have paid twice as much for James Rodriguez. I don't know how they do it but I really like it.

Bild wrote that Goretzka had a secret meeting with Tönnis and they think he spoke about his Bayern move.
Anyway.. everyone knows he is going to Bayern. Rummenigge said: "he had many other offers".

They'll probably need to if they want to replace Robben and Ribery with players who can maintain the level the two once set.

Wait... what?! I mean I see potential and for free you take him (agent fee + wages will not be too high), but that he will definitely be better than Kroos - who is one of the best midfielders in the world (and a completely different player I might add) - is either wishful thinking or muppet mode.
