We won, so it’s all good, hopefully he becomes a better player because of it

He struggled for various reasons, but he’s young , he’ll be just fine, much better and more experienced players have had stinkers in the past

Was the winger the fastest of all time or is Yoro a bit slow? Disappointed, that was one of the worst performances I've ever seen, but he's young and can easily turn it around
I think it's just the way he defended against him was the problem. Most CBs would struggle in a foot race against their winger but most experienced defenders would handle the situation differently. Maguire and De Ligt are slower and know they would get taken apart if they tried what Yoro did too. The difference with the other two is that they'd use their physical presence to their advantage. De Ligt and Maguire would have no doubt given up a few fouls by being more aggressive when the ball is played into the forward.

He will be absolutely fine. One of those rights of passage games.

He's 19 arrived and got injured for months.

He will either be in the team for a decade or get sold for a 100% markup to Madrid after playing great.

Really won't be an issue.

Don't think he'll sleep well tonight after how much he struggled against Sulemana. Thankfully we won but that was really hard to watch.

Suleymana is fecking rapid. The problem is Yoro should have tried to bully him more but played it a bit passive and got roasted for it.

All good. I’m not worried about him one bit, I’ve seen more than enough glimpses and he’s a teenager playing a very physically demanding position.

Defender being demolished in PL by some player is nothing new. New league for young player. It happens.
He is extremely talented and he will adapt.

Doesn't seem like United got their hands on the future Varane at the moment. Massive difference in pace.

Real baptism of fire tonight but that is all the more reason he should keep playing. To go through experiences like that and learn from it. Stop wrapping him up in cotton wool and let him learn. He has the mentality and demeanor for it.

Yoro showed that he is not slow. Sulemana speed with Yoro's rookie positioning combined were the reason why he was destroyed. He knows for next time now.

A young CB asked to play in a dire team against a well prepared opponent. Maybe it stops the hype as I think, it doesn't help with anything. There will be many of those moments with him, lets see how he adapts, thats all that counts.

I’ve no worries about him. Tonight was a test - probably a much bigger and harder one than he and our whole team expected. He’ll learn.

Someone get him some cream for the burns because he was roasted tonight, thankfully it didn't cost us.

Nothing to be too concerned about at this stage, hopefully the penny drops that he's far from the finished article and has a LOT of learning to do.

This was just bizarre. Sulemana had him on toast all game. It’s really strange because Yoro is usually good against fast and tricky players in the channel but he looked like he had no clue out there.

I remember Evra being exceptional against fast and tricky wide players but completely losing all his defensive ability against Aaron Lennon at times. Hopefully this is a one-off for Yoro.

Maguire is ahead of him at the moment, no question.

Evra was faster/quicker than pretty much any attacker. Part of his defending was to block them going inside and leading them outside; when they accelerated, he stopped them in their tracks. Lennon was probably the only one faster in terms of acceleration, so it didn’t work. Thankfully, Lennon was as productive as Adama Traore.

Yoro almost looked like he tried the same; gave space to go on the outside, but he just didn’t have the capacity to stay with him.

Young Varane would not keep up with that pace and all that space in behind. No central defender would. Yoro is no snail.
Varane at the same age was keeping up with Messi, I think he would survive Sulemana. But I agree Yoro isn't slow by any means and tonight will be a good learning experience for him.

But he also never got physical enough when the player was receiving the ball nor did he show any prowess in the air to cut out the sweeping passes toward him.

There were times he thought he had him against the touchline and he got burned from a simple slowdown and change in pace.

Not sure if we're agreeing or disagreeing here. I'm saying that I don't think he was trying "let the winger have the ball and trust himself on the tackle". I think it worse in that he didn't have a plan, tried to react on the fly and was too passive.

He's young but he's got a lot to learn. His fundamentals in those 1 vs 1s were a bit alarming to me and I've noticed that before but didn't really say much because he's had so little game time with us in small amounts.

That was tough to watch, he got ripped apart out there. I'm sure he'll learn from the experience and luckily it didn't cost us.

He's a young CB who had an off day. Loads of potential, but that'll happen.

That doesn't change the question of... Was it wise to spend 70m on a center back who isn't ready to be more than a squad player when we had many other problems in the squad? Can spend less and get someone more ready (like with De Ligt), can spend on other positions... Anyway. Should stop trying to make sense of the transfer business of Manchester United.

Poor tonight. De Ligt showed how to handle Sulemana.

No aggression, was giving him way too much time and space instead of using his physicality to pressure him.

Tough night at the office for Leny. There are very few 19 year olds who are regular starters in central defence, most seem to reach their peak in their late 20s or even later.

As tonight proves, he's not the finished article and it might take 2 or 3 years before we start to see if he'll be as good as advertised.

But extending Maguire's contract is starting to make a lot more sense now!

Yeah, you could see the difference when De Ligt took over Yoro’s position. His aggression was pivotal for maintaining the high pressure.

It's better than spending 70 mil on geriatrics like Casemiro because at least Yoro will always be worth something even if he fails but yeah it is a bonkers outlay for a teenage centre back isn't it

Great learning experience for him. Anyone drawing any conclusions from that, regarding his quality, I cannot take seriously.

True, there are levels to bad transfers and while I don't want to say Yoro is a bad transfer given time and potential .. but we aren't a team who should be spending massive amounts on projects when the current team can't do anything. Get "today" under control and stable before you start thinking about super long term and expensive projects.

Bad game today but it's part of his development. He's barely 19, just moved to a new club, in a new country, playing a new formation. There's going to be ups and downs. I'm excited for the future.

Definitely. He’s a teenager playing in a new league and a new system, he’ll have plenty more poor performances along with some very good ones whilst he’s still learning.

Fully agree
This kind of expensive teenage signing under Fergie made a lot of sense (think Jones, smalling, Anderson, Nani) because the core team was already strong and we could afford time to bed them in but the Yoro and Holjund signings seem out of place when we are crying out for quality players who can impact us immediately and not 3 years down the line
