I was a bit torn between going for Garrincha/Jairzinho and risk another Matthäus situation or just play it safe. Robben felt a bit safer than Matthews and I felt there was a decent chance still of Matthews being blocked. You were right, I am a coward :wenger: Still happy about the Kocsis-Czibor pairing and was sure I could satisfy your post-war muppetry with that :lol:

Might add that Matthews is a different kettle of fish to both Garrincha and - especially - Jairzinho. So it really depends on how you want to use 'em - as much as how how highly you rate 'em as such.

Garrincha is obviously - well, Garrincha. But Matthews and Jairzinho are very different if you consider 'em as wingers.

Yeah, I am honestly struggling a bit with sensibly piecing together my team. This is my first draft and I really have a lot to learn about a lot of players and additionally do not have a huge amount of time. It is fair to say I did look for names a bit because I don't know enough yet to focus on the synergies. I am always glad if you point out mistakes I make/would have made so I can learn. GSTQ already explained to me why Matthews would have been great and now I'm sad :lol:

The best way to get an idea of players is search for player name vs (eg. Garrincha vs) on YouTube.

Will try to do that more. Was on the phone for the entire weekend though and if you have 20 players you want to get to know that can be a bit lengthy of a process. Granted, for the ones I did actually consider picking it may have made sense :)

It's worth it if you can find the time. Especially for the term winger, it can mean very different things. George Best for instance is very different to Matthews. Jairzinho is more of a 10, a bit like Sterling to some extent
 
Not exactly innovative drafting on my part - based on previous drafts, I mean. Tardelli is - possibly, not sure exactly - the only one I haven't picked before. Greaves has been my backup plan for - I dunno - at least 3-4 drafts now, I should think.

But fair enough - done and dusted, and pleased enough with the haul.

I’ve genuinely tried to go the unusual way, but pretty much every non-harms pick had been blocked :lol:

It would’ve been interesting to build a team around Cristiano. I think I’ve only picked him once before (funny thing is that I’ve won that draft, but didn’t like my final team).
 
Usually i pick a theme before and try to go for something fun, this time im picking players like i would if this was somehow played for real :D

Me too, I pick a theme and run with it. Just picking the best players doesn't interest me that much.

Same. Which is why I have been asking to reconsider the next draft to not just be a plain no criteria draft.

If you build based on a theme, you will get steam rolled just by the sheer quality of the opposition.
