McGrath is a great shout in terms that Maradona is still left in the pool, but I was hoping for a different box to be perfectly honest and not a star pick in attack or midfield, that could give me some tactical flexibility depending on the opposition.

I'd agree Charlton is a good option, although I'm not sure it's necessarily at the detriment of those three (a more hard-working option to Dinho?). I wouldn't rate Souness holding, I don't think that's a good use of him at this stage.

If you don't upgrade Chumpito to a Figueroa or Baresi you aren't winning this. That should be your priority if given the chance IMO.

In fairness, not every game will be one to have Eusebio running from deep so I can see Best starting ahead in those. Also, it makes sure you don't face him!

Nah I'll take Van der Sar.

Mulled it over for half an hour but can't see me fitting Charlton without clashing with Dinho, and I don't want to bench Eusebio for Best, while I don't have the personnel to play 4-2-4.

And of course I can't bother to have another GK discussion with others having the likes of Yashin and Schmikes.

I thought of having Charlton in a LCM position but would clash with Ronnie and wouldn't make sense although I'd love to pick him.

I agree about Baresi/Figueroa of course that would be a great upgrade, still I want the team to bring joy to me, and that frontline is the best I've come up so far and I can see it working brilliantly, so while Best would be a great option for any side I really want to field it at least another game :drool:

This reminds me of the Decades Draft when @Theon suggested me to pick Matthaus and Garrincha when I had a midfield of Alonso-Rijkaard and a pseudo RW in Gullit but I opted for the pragmatic option and upgraded Zambrotta who was being murdered. I hope you don't regret that anywhere I do mine. :D
 
It's pretty simple to me: you don't want Skizzannah or Jayvin getting their hands on Best. There's way too many boxes where he can get picked and they add to all those Garrincha can be picked. They are bound to land one or the other now.

Well you never know :)

Eusebio brings more goal scoring threat to Best and IMO completes Ronaldo to a T. The only one I'd sub Eusebio in this setup is Messi.

The other options are also very good but would've disrupted the harmony in midfield and attack which I don't want to happen and I'd still need another player to pick to fit the new one.

Yes that's the only reason to pick Best probably but I'd rather improve my team than bring in Best to bench him. :)

Still if I land on a good box next I have the chance to pick certain someone to limit the damage he could do. Schnellinger at left back also helps a lot against say Garrincha.

I just shadow-weeped my way down the board taking Skizzo/Annahs rolls as the ones I would have got... I knew about half the rolls would have delivered a finished side...

Horrendous round, absolutely zero improvement. Good thing I'm out.

By the way, you can also choose to throw the keeper into the mix to improve your chances of minimising damage (if you have a like for like replacement or wouldn't mind an outfield player in goal).
