La Liga 2018/19

Nice VAR decision again against Real (after the clear pen against Vinicius against Sociedad).

It's really a joke. Even with lines they are to stupid to decide it.

There is a lot of talk about Tellado. He used to go to the Chiringuito and there he denounced that the Var was badly implanted showing the mistakes. After that he did a long interview in AS and for what he said Tebas contacted him asking him for explanations.

Apparently they have not called him again from the Chiringuito or any other program, so he suspects that they are trying to cover the flaws and discredit him

That line seems to be on the arm of the Betis player rather than the shoulder, still might be offside but it doesn't seem like it's 100% correct.

 That is level. Hard to get the perspective on the shoulder with the angles. It's as accurate as you can get realistically. Definitely not clearly off like the Kane one. When it's so tight attacker should get the benefit.

Ehh, i'm not sure you know how the VAR works in relation to offside.
It's not about clearly offside or close offside. With VAR and the line technology we have two options: Offside or not. It can take 5 minutes for me, but they have to do the right decision and this isn't the right one.
So it's a CLEAR mistake despite the use of VAR.

We don't need VAR for 2 metres offside.

Yeah honestly that's one of those extremely tight call where you just have to accept the call might be wrong

VAR is already reviving people's interest in geometry/maths.

For that alone it has been a success as far as I'm concerned. :D

The linesman put his flag up after the goal
-> so first: it's called offside
They are checking it with VAR
-> They "corrected" a right decision into a wrong one.

So if it's "extremely tight" the first decison has to stood, or not?

Line on 6 is on his arm, not shoulder looks wrong. If put on his shoulder he's level.

It's so tight, for me it's onside.

Maybe best for them to admit there is a margin of error it's not to the atom.

I thought at the time it could've gone either way but the TV angle wasn't as close so didn't even notice Carvajal down below. Correct for me.

So hard for Valencia. If they are struggling to beat a struggling second tier side they really are in deep shit.

What's happening with Isco at the moment? I know he has fell out with Solari but surely Real wouldn't be foolish enough to sell him?

Nobody watching Atletico-Girona? Seems like a pretty insane match judging by the scoreline.

Atleti have 2 minutes to find a winner

At this point solari is making up lineups for banter

Marcelo at LB and Reguilon at LW :lol::lol:

3-0 in Madrid, perfect game for Brahim and plays Lucas Vázquez...Vinicius too isolated,he hardly touched the ball.
Isco not bad but too slow in a good chance

Athletic Bilbao have gone out 3-2, but won 1-0 in Sevilla. Another win and all good for confidence. Susaeta's 500th game for Bilbao congratulations to him.

The league campaign is more important. Villareal away at the weekend. That is really important.

Bilbao in much better form recently, hopefully they keep it up and stay up.

If Leganes were even a little bit clinical they could have easily overturned the 3-0 first leg result.

Unless they've changed a lot this season, Leganes and clinical don't really belong in the same sentence

Same here. Villareal are away tonight at Espanyol in the cup. It is 2-2 and neither is in great form, so it will be interesting to see which side is put out. Bilbao rested players last night and will have the extra days rest before they meet at the weekend.

So looks like Morata to Atletico is more or less a done deal. I don't get that at all. Kalinic wasn't all too bad (considering his price-tag) and I am not sure that Morata will do better. Atletico are operating at their financial limit, while having a fairly small squad. Morata is certainly not cheap and I wouldn't trust Simeone's judgement considering that he cycled through many many many different forwards, who all struggled in the long run (e.g. Mandzukic, Jackson Martinez, Vietto, Gameiro, Cerci, Leo Baptistao, Raul Jiminez + wide forwards/wingers).
Atletico are more or less nailed on to finish top4 with or without Morata and Morata won't improve them to the extend, that they can win the league. They are out of the Copa and they might go out against Juventus in the CL, so their schedule isn't all too crazy.

I think Morata can improve Atletico going forward a lot. Very interesting to see if the old Morata from Juventus Is back or not, and compare with how he played for Chelsea.

He knows the club being a youth product, same youth team as Koke I think. So can hopefully slot right in. Can strike up good partnership with Griezmann. Simeone demands a lot of his strikers and attitude is v important. If he's taking paycut that is a good start!

They want the CL this season given final is at Wanda. Transfer aimed slightly at that?

Wondering how long Costa out for?

Morata is very good in counterattacks and that is good for a side playing like Atletico does. Can be useful in Champions League, I think. For me, as Juventus fan, it's better if he does not sign for Atletico or if he does it next year.

Do you remember when they eliminated Madrid for playing with Cherysev? (against Cádiz, in la copa del Rey). Something similar has happened to Barcelona, with a player called Chumi.
Apparently everything depends on whether Levante denounce or not.

They focus less on counter attacking than they did in the past. Costa could/should be back at some point as well. I think it's a pretty big gamble. When Torres went back to atlético, his only redeeming quality was his willingness to run himself into the ground and he still picked up significant minutes while other more talented attackers were frozen out after a season. There is no other top team where forwards/attacking players have an equally difficult time to make an impact. When everything clicks for morata he is obviously better than kalinic or an injured/out of form Costa. That said I think there is a substantial risk that he isn't even able to match kalinic, who was quite okay. I guess a lot depends on the type of deal. If it's a loan+option, the risk is manageable. If they have to fork out 40m+, they might end up with an egg on their face. I don't think they can invest much in the summer without selling big beforehand.

So, not 0-3 loss, but straight elimination?

When will we know?
