La Liga 2018/19

Ok, Madrid might deserve the win today, but I'm not convinced by the lack of a goalscorer.

Athletic could be a team to be 6th,7th or even fight for Champions place if they had a good striker.Iñaki Williams and Muniain are fawns in front of the goal.
Lopetegui could have given 10 minutes to Mariano

Bale has been a bit shit tonight.
Still got an assist. Benzema and Asensio have been worse.
The whole front 3 have been a bit let down by Real's midfield. The midfield played at such a slow pace that the front 3 rarely received the ball in threatening positions. There were a few instances where Bale would ask for the ball over the top, but no one would ever deliver it.

With Isco on now, Real's tempo has quickened. Casemiro coming on initially helped, but Modric and Kroos were still playing at a slower tempo as both came deep to show for the ball. Isco, however, has played higher up and demonstrated quicker vertical movement than Modric did, opening up spaces for the front 3.

I wouldn't have taken off Bale for Vasquez, but I think Lopetegui wanted to freshen up the front 3.

The feeling of competition with Odriozola has been very good for Carvajal.Something similar happened with Danilo

Good point. A lot of the Madrid players are very lethargic.

Vazquez is such an idiot sometimes, I just don't rate the guy.

His work rate is second to none and is an useful player to have, but never good enough to consistently be one of the three coming from the bench.

Have to say, Raul Garcia and Diego Costa are really bad for Sergio Ramos. He isn't used to not being the biggest cnut on the pitch and tends to lose his mind

This being their annual CL final, yeah sure. Not a bad result per se. Just a bad performance

Indeed, he works his ass off but so do many others, who don't run into blind alleys and lose the ball all the time.

He thinks he got the close control of Isco or something.

He's very hit and miss. And when it's miss, good golly it is spectacular

Berrizo's gotten a big result for Bilbao against Real Madrid. He played a risky pressing game, but they got away with it as Real were too slow to take advantage of the spaces. Berrizo's response to the moments when they were beaten on the press was also pretty good, and they became a threat on the counter. However, the players losing their minds cost them a potential 3 points, but Berrizo can't do much about that save for bringing in San Jose to calm things down.

Beñat was invisible for the whole game. For a playmaker, he barely got involved in the attacks as they mainly came through Muniain and then de Marcos. This might have been one bad game for him, though.

Still to watch the Madrid game.

Barcelona, though, are becoming a very hard team to watch. Slow, insipid, pointless passing 95% of the time. Very Van Gaal like. They'll struggle if they meet City or Liverpool in the CL IMO.

Just watched extended highlights of the Bilbao/Real Madrid game. Really enjoyed what I saw. Simon for a youngster, who was going out on loan and has been thrown in at the deep-end looks good. Really good move from Bilbao for their goal, thought De Marcos did well. Draw was probably the correct result.
We are above Atletico Madrid, have scored more goals than them and have played a game less.

After selling Kepa for a transfer record it looks like Bilbao have accidentally stumbled upon another good young GK in Unai Simon.

Yep, they have evolved since the Guardiola years. They play as Xavi and Iniesta were still there.

Yeah don't like watching Barca much in La Liga either. Thing is they're pretty defensively solid so they don't gift goals away like Real Madrid do so they can do enough to keep the opposition out and then bit of Messi magic or Suarez poaching a goal wins them the game.

Real Sociedad could have scored 3 or 4 easily yesterday. They just have a lot of luck and Ter Stegen, and they're better at grinding teams down

Unai Simón was already extremely rated by any Athletic supporter following Lezama's gems, fans weren't worried at all about losing Kepa -they were hurt, but not worried-. I knew he was going to make it into the first team if Kepa wasn't around, the only reason he's not at Kepa level was Kepa, and the obvious 2-3 years difference between both. But he will be. I mean, he's not a wonderkid coming from nothing, he's been pretty well known in Bilbao.

Eibar take the lead in the 90th minute. Terrible last few minutes by Atleti... they have the players to do it but it doesn’t seem like they’ll challenge for the title at all this season.

Atletico been awful this season, really disappointing. They had so many chances yesterday and couldn't score till right at the death. Would have thought with Griezmann and Costa fit and in form they would do really well, especially after winning the super cup against RM. 7 points behind already, they need a massive run of wins to catch up. Barcelona and RM so consistent. Maybe saving it for the CL, we'll see.

Roque Mesa is a braindead idiot. So annoying that Gonalons is out for a long time. Hopefully Amadou gets a chance soon. The lack of quality in CB is also showing again. Yeah, and feck off Getafe with their constant fouling. Djene should be off.

Looks like an early season crisis for Sevilla, Getafe cut them open so many times on counter attack. N'zonzi a big miss by looks of things.

It looks like Seville will have another ordinary season. Shame because i don't think their squad is that bad.

This game was just galling. I have grudging respect for Getafe's fouling, theatrics, time-wasting but also clinical efficency going forward. They make Atletico look fair in comparison. The ref totally bottled it and decided the game. It was a difficult game, but this guy was totally inept. Ruling out at least one good goal, probably two, missing a stonewall pen and a red card. Good job.

To Sevilla's performance: I don't want to see Roque Mesa ever again starting a game. I rarely remember being a player so bad. I'd rather start with 10 players. Banega was all on his own in the middle of the pitch until Vazquez came on. Navas is probably going to have nightmares from Antunes. It wasn't all bad, but the team lacks quality up front and at the back. The centerbacks are bang average and so are some of the attackers. With Mercado, Escudero and Gonalons three of the better players are out injured and the rest isn't all that great. Sarbia with a stinker, but nobody should expect him to make the difference week in week out. Andre Silva nonexistent. Nolito was motivated but isn't up for it anymore (he didn't get a stonewall pen). Ben Yedder was okay, but also totally inefficent. The game could have gone on for another hour and they wouldn't score and if they did, the ref would rule it out.

Valencia, Sevilla, Villarreal and Atletico all with really bad starts to this season.

Is that offside call supposed to be wrong or something because his head is clearly offside.
