La Liga 2017/18

Not really, they were even worse with berizzo

They are thinking seriously about Caparrós...I understand that he has a past and reputation in Sevilla but I´m not sure if it´s the best idea

We were definetly not worse with Berizzo. We were poor with him though, and it was righteous decision to let him go. Unfortunately, hiring Montella was a poor decision, and it was considered as a poor decision already back in January.

Hiring Caparros is understandble, since he is one of very few (if not only) reasonable option that is free at this point of the season. He and his ways can't be worse than whatever Montella has done these months. I am not sure if Caparros is the right man in the long run, because this is not 2003 or 2005, football has changed a lot, and I am not sure if he has adapted to it lately. But he is a legend in a way, bleeds for this club and it will feel like we have a supporter as a manager.

@PedroMendez The genius part of hiring Montella was to give him a contract that was extended until next season. No wonder Arias had to be sacked before season ended.

At this moment Sevilla are trying to negotiate a way to buy out Montella.

Rumours state that Caparros will have his first training session tomorrow. Finally. :)

San Jose has got his 2nd OG of the day. He's on a bloody hattrick. I cannot wait for the season to end. I do not understand why they have kept the manager on at all. It seems a pointless exercise.

Bilbao could do with some fresh blood in midfield tbh.

How's Mikel Oyarzabal getting on for Sociedad?
Doing well today. I still think they will be after Mikel Merino the lad who went to Newcastle. He is in and out of the side, mostly out, they wanted him in the summer and in January. They have Capa from Eibar coming in the summer. They definitely need new blood as they say, they also struggle to score goals, that is a big problem. I would presume they will be getting a new manager as well. They have to get that right.

They know they are playing badly, but cannot seem to work out why, the fans are not happy. They seem relaxed before games, but lacking confidence on the pitch. I think a new voice might have lifted them.

Kepa having another good game, even though he has let in three it could have bene worse. Although one of your own players getting two past you doesn't help.

That should have been a penalty to Celta within the first minute, foul by the goalie and ref gives it as a freekick outside the box.

Too early/risky for someone like Jose Luis Marti? Served Sevilla well as a player and got Tenerife to the promotion play offs last year which they just missed out on.

Could always go for an up and coming manager like Machin at Girona or Bordalas at Getafe, both done brilliant jobs this season.

I'd go for Marti in a heartbeat! There is no doubt that he got the leadership skills. Although, I admit that it would be a risky move hiring him.

I'd definetly would like any of Machin or Bordalas as Sevilla manager:) I hope the Sevilla board also has them on their wish list.

We'll see what what happens this summer - suddenly silly season is interesting for us.

I have always thought Seville were a well-run club. Monchi leaving has probably damaged something.
I feel sorry for Montella though. Getting sacked for 2 times in just 4 months is very difficult to take.

Machin would be an interesting choice. Doing a great job with Girona and they play really well

Then again, verbatim for Berizzo last year. And he was even a natural successor to Sampaoli

Caparros is a top bloke, he has discarded any possibility of being in charge after this 4 games, and the president has announced that Caparros refused to be paid for the job, that's love for a club, he just said he'd like to work with the youth team after this stint.

Good stuff.

Caparros is part of generation for me of Victor Fernandez, Miguel Angel Lotina and Javier Irrueta. All excellent coaches in their day.
