La Liga 2017/18

What a match from FC Barcelona to win 5-0 against Sevilla in the final. I was not expecting this type of performance from the team after having the defeat in CL in the head in the last two weeks.

Well, Barcelona to win a match in La Liga and will make double when nobody expect that.

If Atletico lose tonight, do Barcelona clinch La Liga without having to play Deportivo?

Incidentally, Sevilla were shocking last night. That's another occasion in which they have conceded 5 in a match. They can't defend to save their lives. Betis, Eibar, Spartak Moscow, Altetico, Real, and Barcelona have all put 5 past them this year, and plenty of others have put 3-4 past them.

Excellent from Barcelona, who were on song last night, but Sevilla were piss poor.

Sevilla players nearly coming to blows with the fans at the airport apparently

N'Zonzi went to celebrate with his family afterwards and is getting all kinds of shit right now

Also barcelona players and board are apparently in a state of cold war after the board reportedly told Valverde he'd be sacked if they didn't win the cup

Atletico-Betis were horrible. Just once chance for each team during the whole game.

P.s.:

Never happened before! The last 3 teams are really shit.

In other news, CL qualification confirmed

Whooohoooo

Just looked at Athletic's Wiki Page.

All their players have Spanish nationality / FIFA qualification - not all Basques, as used to be, but still a phenomenal achivement these days.

A lovely tribute to the great Andres Iniesta:
Sid Lowe said:
Iniesta is applauded at every stadium in Spain, but it is not just because of that goal and it is not just Spain. It happened in Turin and Lisbon too, and at the Santiago Bernabéu. On Saturday, it happened again; it was not the first time but it felt like the last, a touch of melancholy. It is not just him, it is what he represents.

Applauded in Lisbon, when?

Can't remember a Portuguese applauding a Spanish, unless they thought Iniesta was going to be subbed by André Gomes and they applauded with great relief :p

Nah, great player, not part of my first 11 because I put Laudrup and Zidane ahead of him, but a true artist, and less arrogant than Xavi.

Two brilliant free kicks in two minutes by Bardhi.

Thought Levante were going down 6 weeks ago but out of nowhere they've gone on a great run.
Gonna be difficult for Deportivo to come out from the Segunda Division, as it's a tricky league.

Think they still have to have some sort of Basque connection, even if it is just they moved there as kids and were in a academy system. It is more flexible than you would think. A lot might have parents or grandparents who are Basque. This is a team waiting for the manager to leave.

Cant believe we didnt give this Sevilla team under Montella problems. Mourinho had an absolute shocker.
I'm watching Levante beating Sevilla and they're so shit...

Jose' worst game at United by far

In fairness this game means far more to Levante.

Depor effectively relegated by this result.

fecking Levante, now they don't lose a game :(.A big expectation in Coruña to watch Barsa. enjoy Messi for a long time, farewell to Iniesta and probably handkerchiefs/boos to the board

Will Seedorf stay on in the Segunda? Probably on a hiding to nothing down there but Depor have played better in recent weeks even if it is way too late.

So Levante are all but safe, right? Seville clearly trying not to play in the Europa League next season.

I don't think so, it's not the right atmosphere to trust anyone. For what I heard fans are ready for a good cleaning, even if means 2,3 years in Segunda.
I have a friend who feels some type of relief, go to the stadium to see football without anxiety leaving in bad mood.
Now they will have to solve the problems with the board and look for a director of football. They have thought about Lardín, the former player, now at Espanyol, and someone who worked for Monchi in Sevilla, but I do not remember his name.

Hope Depor can bounce back like they have previous two occasions they've gone down in recent times.

Loved the teams they had in the late 90s early 00s....Jacques Songo'o/Molina....Manuel Pablo....Naybet....Donato at 40 years old still playing...can't remember the left back....Fran...Valeron...Djalminha....Luque (before his twin signed for Newcastle)....Roy Maakay....Tristan.

Great great team, sure as always I've missed an obvious name or two from those teams.

Celta Vigo also produced some brilliant teams around that time.

That era was golden period for Spanish football, such depth back then.

Even Levante beat Sevilla.

Actually, is value for both of them. For Levante to no go to Segunda and Sevilla to stay on track in European competitions next season. Betis and Villarreal are above them.

Betis have Malaga at home on Monday so that should be three points.

Sevilla couldn't beat Villareal at home recently.

Deep down they know they're not good enough this year and club has lost direction with Monchi no longer there. Montella's league record since taking over is 5 wins in 17 games.

Indeed they have not win a game in any competition since the 1-2 at Old Trafford.

The problem is not only our team's inconsistency, it is that our when we are out of form, then we are probably the worst team in the world. Sevilla are much better than this, and should be - at least - at top 4, even when we compete in any tournament in Europe.

Montella is incredibly poor as a manager of this club, and the fact that the board fired Arias last week, and motivated why Montella should stay until end of the season; that makes me angry. Not that they fired Arias (I am not sure if that was a harsh thing to do), but rather to continute to keep Montella. If he gets to continue for next season, then I will boycott this club until he is gone.

I hope we will make it to Europa League, but it rather looks like we will end up at 10th spot. This club is really falling bad, and we still have betis to play away - the season ending will get ugly. The only good thing left for this catastrophic season is the great relief of that it has ended after gameweek 38.

Implosion². I was pessimistic for quite some time, but it is getting really ugly now. Arias deserved to get sacked. Antonio Cordon would be an interesting option for the summer. Montella...just feck off...

I expect Sevilla to fire Montella, that roster should at least challenge Valencia for the CL spots. As things stand even Emery is on the market (he left in peace right?) and if it's true that he was interested in Real Sociedad then he'd take over Sevilla in a heartbeat.

Sacking Berizzo was idiotic at the time, and even more idiotic now in hindsight.
