La Liga 2017/18

With a goal in the 93, Málaga to segunda and probably Deportivo too, since they needed a draw or a Málaga victory to keep the distance. In some weeks derby against Celta. It would be terrible to be relegated in Balaídos
And to think Malaga almost knocked Borussia Dortmund out from the Champions League in 2013. What a fall from grace for them!

Flores is the 12th La Liga manager to leave this season
Espanyol are 16th in the league
Had lost 4 of their last 5 games without scoring
The club's reserve-team coach, David Gallego, will take charge for the remainder of the season.

Bye bye La Coruna. Quite a big club to get relegated.

In Spain all these adventures of foreign investors usually end badly. Espanyol also seemed a project with future thanks to the Chinese investors and they are in a very bad situation. In the case of Deportivo, it is a problem of money and bad sports planning.

Looks like if Barcelona win against Deportivo, they will effectively win the league since they have way higher GD.
But mathematically, they can win the league at Camp Nou against Madrid. Great timing for barca.

Uh no. In La Liga, head to head result is is the main tie breaker before GD. And with Barcelona had favorable result over Atletico, that's what officially crown Barcelona as champion if they win against Deportivo.

I meant if it's based on GD, then even it's impossible to overcome the GD on, you can't still be crowned champion until it's mathematically impossible to overcome point gap.

What has happened to Malaga? They got relegated recently, but 17 points! Five years ago they were in the Champions League quarter finals, and were so close making the semi finals.

You can thank Isco for that. Soon as they lost him, big decline.

Pellegrini, Isco, Toulalan, Demichelis, Joaquin, Iturra, Caballero, Gamez, Antunes. Eliseu, Saviola... it wasn't about Isco, 95% of their starting 11 were gone a year past the UCL semis.

They managed to survive with the replacements for those guys, Samu Garcia and Castillejo, Darder, Fornals, Camacho, Amrabat, Sergio Sanchez... most of them play for teams ahead of Malaga thise season, but they've been just downgrading their squad 3 seasons in a row, Sandro, Fornals and Camacho were too big of a swing in a single window.

Thanks , I completely forgot that head to head result is the tie breaker after points difference.

Agree. Isco was the genius of that team but very players was important too.

That ban hammer for european competions for 4 years surely was a big blow for them.

Since Pellegrini left in 2013, Malaga have had 6 managers. Are they stilled owned by the Qatar businessman? (forgotten his name)

"Businessman" = prince. Owner of Malaga is a member of Qatar royal family. Cousin of the guy who is the material owner of PSG iirc

brilliant from Cillessen. actually on pair with some of the Messi's assists
