La Liga 2016/17

Actually ran out of options with that dribble. They support each other less than the Pep days.

Ten yards from an oppo player dithering in possession and barely walked towards him. Probably frustrated about lack of options like you say but still....

Likes of Gomes and Vidal just aren't good enough for Barca. Roberto will be eventually.

I've noticed in Spanish football they never add on additional time when there is a stoppage in stoppage time.

You can fake an injury for a minute during a 3 minute stoppage time allocation, and the ref will still blow on 93.

Pique tantrum in 3, 2, 1...

And guys, don't you forget; 'La Liga is boring';)

With Madrid looking as bad as they do at the moment, this might not mean much.

We have been robbed in almost every single game we played in La Liga this season except the clasico and the game vs Sociedad. Madrid's case is the reverse of this. This Liga is done. On top of shots blocked with the hand by the opponent in the box, Barcelona now scores goals that don't count. The next step is the ref failing to correctly count the number of players from the other tream, so that they play with 12.

Betis could have easily taken all 3 points. They dominated Barca for large portions of the game (pressed high, forced defensive errors, won most second balls), hit the cross bar and post in quick succession and missed a few good opportunities. Barcelona only stepped up and started playing after going behind.

The way people have been reacting about league being over I thought Madrid will be 15 points ahead with a win today. Turns out it'll only be 5.

Indeed. The games where Real or Barca play bad, get pressed high, get hit on the counter and from crosses, eventually go down, but you still know they can turn it around in five minutes.
Those are most entertaining games of football for me and it's something EPL can never offer.

Possibly 8 after they play their game in hand. Large enough lead to take it all the way up until the end. Especially considering that the direct rival gets robbed almost every game. And we're not talking about a yellow not given. I'm talking about clear pens. denied, 1 vs 1s with the keeper denied for wrong offsides, legit goals not given.

Erm I've seen that happen to United countless times over the years but whatever you say mate.

Great game today but lets be honest; more often than not the tempo is slow, the players are constantly acting like fannies and fans are shite.

Dani Ceballos definite MotM for that game and Betis deserved a win based on a brilliant performance (also the wingbacks Durmisi and Piccini were threats all game), but Barça could so easily have taken all three points here after Rubén Castro let them off the hook.

Suárez very energetic and a difficult presence for the Betis backline tho they dealt with him very well, still punishes them hard for a single mistake with a brilliant finish (the bend on it), Neymar just not effective enough in the clutch moments (missed a great 1v1 put on a plate for him by Messi in the 1st half), always getting himself lost in the dribble when he comes inside and Messi very subdued and playing more like a MF but without movement, still created 3 very good chances (incl. the game-tieing assist) and was both times at the origin of the last-ditch goal-line clearances by Betis.

That doesn't happen in the PL?

Don't know what games you watch. Fans are A LOT better in Spain and the tempo of the matches is usually the same in England. It's true that there's more fannies though.

I was a bit sad for Rafa and just found out the draw  .For what I read the referee was very bad.Let's see what Piqué says

No chance about the fans. Some clubs do have great supports but by and large I dont rate them. They don't even travel away on masse ffs.

Common now amigo. We don't have to drag in another 'My dad is stronger than your dad'-fuss. The whole point was to ridicule the 'La Liga is boring' statement, not to throw shit at other leagues. There is room to like all types of leagues for whatever they offer, no need to criticize one league in order to praise another.

This is my fault though, since I started it, without calculating on what type of fuss it could lead to. But let's end it here:nono::)

It did back then but not any more. La liga is still a 2 horse league and EPL is on a different level at the moment.

Slow tempo is boring to watch, but high tempo where the ball is in the air a lot and the whole idea of football is fighting for the second ball and creating something out of that is far worse (imho).

As for the fans again, I disagree. I like how it's done on the mainland Europe. That's what I'm used to and have been since forever. The English way is English and it should stay in England. The songs you make for each player, the singing sections, it's all ridiculous to me and I find no amusement in that at all. Then there's no actual ultras on their own terrace, again something I will never appreciate and you really can't expect me to. There is a culture to it here and there and people like their ways.

No it doesn't. People who watch Real and Barca often and also watch EPL know exactly what I'm talking about. There is a pattern to those games and I like it. I find it amusing to watch. @SfcNervion knows what I'm talking about and the post was a direct response to him.
I didn't say la liga is better then EPL. We're not going down that road.

Is there even one Premier League stadium that has a good atmosphere these days? I honestly can't think of one.

You're right that away fans aren't as good in Spain and even then everytime a spanish club visits England only their fans will be heard for the full 90 minutes. Playing at home fans in Spain are miles better, it's not even comparable.

@SkeppyRed has mentioned about Spanish fans not travelling in great numbers to away games. Why is that?
The tickets are quite expensive for what is an average salary(basques can afford more than the rest,to Coruña come many people from San Sebastián) but probably the main reason is the distance. For example if I want to support Deportivo the closer stadium out of Galicia is Gijón.5 hours by car, shit combination for trains. The other option are the basque teams.People use to travel there but It requires to sleep there or drive during the night.
Madrid is 600km and Barna 1100. If you don't have too much free time the only option is a flight.
The same for someone from Málaga/Sevilla/Valencia going to the north.

Thanks for that. I think we forget about travel distances in Spain and that for all we moan over here our rail and road infrastructure works pretty well for football fans.
