La Liga 2016/17

It did back then but not any more. La liga is still a 2 horse league and EPL is on a different level at the moment.

Slow tempo is boring to watch, but high tempo where the ball is in the air a lot and the whole idea of football is fighting for the second ball and creating something out of that is far worse (imho).

As for the fans again, I disagree. I like how it's done on the mainland Europe. That's what I'm used to and have been since forever. The English way is English and it should stay in England. The songs you make for each player, the singing sections, it's all ridiculous to me and I find no amusement in that at all. Then there's no actual ultras on their own terrace, again something I will never appreciate and you really can't expect me to. There is a culture to it here and there and people like their ways.

No it doesn't. People who watch Real and Barca often and also watch EPL know exactly what I'm talking about. There is a pattern to those games and I like it. I find it amusing to watch. @SfcNervion knows what I'm talking about and the post was a direct response to him.
I didn't say la liga is better then EPL. We're not going down that road.

@gaucho_10 Fair enough:) Good post.

Didn't even realise spanish teams have ultras. Not any significant size groups anyway. Just a small group who need a drum and a megaphone to make noise. Nothing as good as the Stretford end anyway.

Never heard a Spanish team with an away support as good as Uniteds either. Let alone come to OT in knockout round and make themselves heard. Madrid were the last I remember and they didn't make a peep. Uniteds fans will travel wherever and whenever to follow their club.

Its all about opinion but English fan culture is better Spanish fan culture in my view.

Well you brought it up and I was diagreeing with the fact we don't see games like that in the PL.

How are the likes of Nicola Sansone and Roberto Soriano doing for Villarreal? I saw Sansone has 7 goals / 3 assists in La Liga at the moment.
Also, who are Sevilla's standout players this season?

It's all good man. It would be better if I didn't say anything at all. We're all a bit touchy when this topic comes up! :D

That was the second clearance, it's the first one that entered.

That's amazing. It's incredible that many leagues still refuse to use goal line technology. I guess they love a bit contraversy in Spain, Real Madrid needs to win the title from time to time too.

It wouldn't be if the player's entire body wasn't in the goal too.

From the linesman point of view you can't really tell if the player's foot is behind the line or not even if the body is inside the goal. I know I would be pissed too if a decision like that went against my team and Barça fans have every right to complain.

Sevilla have a player sent off in the first minute of the game against Espanyol and concede a penalty. Madness

Jose Antonio Reyes converts.

I am watching the match with some sevillistas that are already complaining about being robbed. I think that very strict red card...and Reyes scores...
What a weekend for Madrid, after all this I guess that we will get some dodgy penalty

I actually find it strange that Barcelona have been robbed over several weeks, penalties not given, goals that have crossed the line I think there's been two.

And Suarez and Neymar not performing too, shocking.

Do they apply in La Liga? Was it a FIFA thing or an EPL change?
It's an IFAB thing (the determine the laws of Football) so applies evrywhere.

The IFAB is comprised of FIFA, the English FA, the Scottish FA, the Welsh FA and the Irish FA. FIFA gets 4 votes, the othre 4 members get 1 each. Any changes need to get 6 votes (meaning FIFA need to vote for any change but they can't change anything on their own).

The Spanish game being corrupt and favouring Real Madrid is indeed strange.

Do not let the referee screwjob distract you from how shite we are.

We literally get outplayed by any organized side these days.

So you're saying Mestalla game this season didn't happen, or Real Sociedad away daylight robbery when their player was 3 meters onside, or el classico where we were robbed for a clear penalty and Barca scored their only goal from offside?

Or that just doesn't count in your head?

Espanyol 3-1 . Very difficult for Sevilla with 10 from the first minute

Sevilla's unreal winning streak is coming to an end. A difficult away game to begin with, but I expected 3p.

But start of the game set its tone. Being 1 man down already before first 5 min, with a penalty against, gave us an unnecessary uphill slope. All cred to Espanyol, who were sharper when it came to the final execution in the attacks.

Sucks that Sevilla could not take advantage on Barca's dropped points, and put more pressure on Real Madrid. But I believe we stood up well despite 10 men, and had our chances to have a 2-1 lead.

Look forward for next week, and hopefully starting a new winning streak.

Athletic 2- Sporting 1. Sporting played a decent match and started scoring but Athletic had enough with a good second half. I feel a bit sorry for them but on the other hand Deportivo is in a bad situation too so would be good if Osasuna, Granada and Sporting lose all the possible points.

Very harsh red card, given the new laws regarding "triple jeapardy".

Ref ruined the game for me. Sevilla got screwed. red card and a penalty in the first minute. Penalty should have been enough that early in the game. Complete overreaction.

There always seems to be loads of bookings in Spanish games. Is it that they are dirty or do your refs just hand cards out for nothing incidents?

Let´s see how Bernabéu treat Benzema and Danilo...

I don´t think that players are especially violent or dirty, I think that the referees use too much the cards

but probably the main reason is the distance. For example if I want to support Deportivo the closer stadium out of Galicia is Gijón.5 hours by car, shit combination for trains. The other option are the basque teams.People use to travel there but It requires to sleep there or drive during the night.
Madrid is 600km and Barna 1100. If you don't have too much free time the only option is a flight.
The same for someone from Málaga/Sevilla/Valencia going to the north.
It's pretty much the same with distances in Germany, and nevertheless the fans from every club go to away games in the thousands. Only advantage we have is no speed limit, but that makes only sense in the eastern half of the country. 16 of 18 clubs are further away then 4 hours drive from where i live. So that for once can't be the reason. Apart from that, almost no games in Spain overall are sold out. Half empty stadiums everywhere. If you wanna call that great fans, well good for you.
