No, the red card was the only reason that game was competitive. Remember, it was either red card, or 1-0 barcelona after 10 minutes

Yeah, to be fair; I don't know if Barca would have lost their lead if they went 1-0 up, but I meant it was a shame in terms of the game itself. Would have been interesting to see how Arsenal would have responded.

Villarreal stadium is now called "Estadio de la cerámica" (ceramics/pottery).

Just realised that Barcelona have the 11th best home record in the league this season. So there are 10 teams in the league that have a better home record than Barca. Crazy. They have the best away record though.

What's up with Rakitic?

This club acts like an asshole to players that aren't either a masia product or ballon d'Or material, Luis Enrique has the same mentality as this club and the predisposition to be an asshole.

Rakitic doesn't deserve this, and seeing Gomes taking his place when he's been awful all the season just makes it worse

Croatian newspaper suggesting he's off to City :annoyed::nervous:
Why I asked. He's been fantastic for you guys. Selling him for a player nowhere near as good, is crazy.

While still surprisingly bad they played a game less than many of the teams above. Depending on the results of these teams they could climb to 6th-8th at home once every team played 9 home games.

What's also interesting btw is that Sevilla with a win would actually top the home table.

Luis Enrique has a hard-on for Rafinha and seems to also rate Dennis highly, but they're nowhere ready to do the job Rakitic has been doing the last two years. If the reason is overbooking then I'd rather loan Gomes out than selling Rakitic

So can anyone convince me that Sergi Roberto is performing better at right-back than the supposedly 'old, over-the-hill' Dani Alves last season? Please?

Never better, but certainly not worse than Alves imo.

Pato looks like he's still got it.

Still just 27 as well

Barca's midfield has rotted away over the last few seasons. They either defend or pass to the front 3, there's no midfield play at all

I think Alves has at least two more seasons at the highest level. In my opinion Barca tried too hard to look proactive and let him go too early. Just my 2 cents.

But it's a problem of bad attitude or he is asking too much to renew?

If Barca do have an underwhelming season then I see Neymar asking to play centrally or he'll leave.

Haven't seen him this year, but this game resumes his last season

Destroyed in the 1vs1
Bad decission calling
Stupid mistakes

I recall that in the first 3/4 games of the last season 8 goals came from his side due to poor defending. One of the reasons I love Rakitic is that he's been working his ass off covering for Alves since he signed, Sergi Roberto still has mistakes like that but we can hope that he can improve, Alves wouldn't improve, just keep doing that or make it worse

Musacchio is absolute quality. One of the most underrated CBs in the world.

Anyone who follows Barcelona and has a modicum of football insight can see what a great job Guardiola did there. Season after season, system and style, consistency and intensity have gradually vaned, till the point they are almost gone now. Even Messi in good form together with Neymar and Suarez isn't enough to paper over cracks. Barcelona today is just a group of excellent individuals and doesn't differ from Real too much.

Real are much better these days, tbf.

I don't think is an attitude problem, he's been benched of left out of the list and never moaned even when Luis Enrique doesn't give him reasons, when he plays he and Sergi Roberto have the best work rate in the team, and he's still our 2nd best midfield only behind Iniesta.

Maybe Lucho benched him to see if he could motivate him more, then teams starting to ask for him and the club might think is a good idea to sell a 28 y/o player for a profit when we have Iniesta, Gomes, Rafinha, Dennis and even Arda to play in the midfield, I don't think that's wise

Bein Sports giving Barca so much sticks. Basically, they are saying they have failed to replace all the big boys.
