Well, Ronaldo pushes Savic, Savic falls trying to get the ball and Ronaldo changes direction from the ball to Savic to get the Penalty like a Russian throwing himself in fron of a car to get the insurance money.

Basically is a foul from Ronaldo at the start and he somehow invents a penalty from all that
The only thing you said that actually happened was savic falling on his arse on tripping cristiano. Ref's been abysmal in the second half and outright saved our bacons with bogus calls a couple times, but the pen's the one call he got right

If that was a penalty then Valencia should have had 3 penalties for the foul against him. Ronaldo diverts his run into the legs of the defender and falls..

4 points clear!

Not a pen. But silly from Savic to give the Ronaldo the opportunity to engineer the contact.

Ronnie much better as a central striker. He doesn't have the pace anymore to play as a winger.

I'm not Zidane's greatest fan but I have to concede that he shines in big games

It's one of mixed feelings on this one. On the one hand, yes, his decline is clearly visible to all and he will frustrate the hell out of us in a lot of games but on the other hand, he has been vital for our 10th and 11th CL wins and is the club's all time top scorer. If it's his wish to finish his career in Madrid it would have been incredibly harsh to show him the door.

Also, it wouldn't surprise me if this new deal would fire him up and make him overcome this current slump he's in.

Yeah, he definitely learned a thing or two from Ancelotti in that matter

Did that fan just behind Ronaldo on the bench stop the other fans taking pics of Ronaldo?

Really nice performance from Real Madrid. Atletico had ten minutes at the start of each half, but apart from that they didn't look dangerous at all. Griezmann appears to have been watching United play :smirk:

Ronaldo will get the headlines, though it was very much a team win, and having watched United drop another two points because we can't finish, I think he deserves the praise, the new contract and even the posing opportunity.

Before I wonder how we dominated the midfield until I realized that Lucas wasn´t really in the position of Bale in a 4-3-3 but going to help to the wing. It would be great a happy
and consistently productive Cristiano out of the wing. Isco played a first half to remember. The team finished very well physically

Isco is sublime, frustrating that he doesn't play regularly. World class on form IMO.

I think that he had too much self confidence and was too lazy in some games (last year in Calderón him and James were awful and lost Zidane's confidence).Today I saw him quicker with the ball, without stopping the play as usual and very vertical

Cracking game, I thought Real would struggle when I saw their midfield line-up but it wasn't a problem for them, Isco in particular was excellent and Ronaldo is looking like he's getting comfortable playing more as a central striker, that evolution is ideal for him in the next phase of his career. Other than a 10 miute spell at the start of the second half I thought Atleti failed to offer enough of a threat, only Carrasco was consistently causing Real any problems.

How did Real play? With Mateo and Luka in midfield with Isco behind Ronaldo?
I don't like Real much but in any case it's a great thing to see 2 Croatian players in a starting lineup and being such an important parts of the team.

If we go by player positioning and not what was on paper, then you would have a roughly 4141, with Kovacic's average position leaning to the left side of the DM position in order to cover for the marauding Marcelo.

At CM you have Modric and Isco, with Isco being the further advanced of the two, on the left wing you had Bale and on the right wing Lucas, with Cristiano in the CF position.

It worked remarkably well and a lot of credit has to be given to Zidane, who took a lot of risks and ignored the criticism of playing Varane and Nacho together at the back again. We had a lot of players missing or just returning or only half fit, so given that the win was even more remarkable.

Even more amazing is the fact we now stand at 29 matches unbeaten.

Can't stop admiring Zizou. 29 games without losing at the moment. Was without 5-6 starting players yesterday, yet smoothly schooled Simeone. He is such a boss. Although, I admit that I am biased, loved him as a player, chose to admire him as a coach, before he proved himself. So it feels good to see the great impact he has had on Real Madrid. Players really run their ass off, and for once, there is no media circus around that club, or around the coaching position. There have been attempts in provoking him by certain journalists, but he keeps smiling at them, as if he was looking down on them, and the provocations never sticks - he is like made of teflon. But yeah, I know; 2-3 losses and the witchhunt/circus will start.

Simeone and Atletico however...I expected them to take another step forward and further develope their attacking creativity before this season, but it seems that they are stagnating. I honestly thought they would maintain at top two position by now, I really had high expectations for this team. Yet, they are still stuck in the same manner as previous years, whereas most of their rivals have progressed. Very dissappointing that they can't exploit the attacking depth they have. At least they got more alternatives of players for their attacking structure, compared to previous season. It could be argued that some of their players are underperforming, whereas the core of Simeone-philosophy is evidently regressing in quality, they seem to getting past their peak (Godin, Gabi, Tiago), and they have no replacement/back up for those players, espacially in terms of leadership...Atletico completely harmless when Gabi was subbed out; at least with his prescence on the field they were stressing the hell out of real madrid players. Nevertheless - 'the step forward' that they were suppose to take this year has not been implemented yet, and their stats are worrying. 12 games: 3 losses and 3 draws. Losing vs Sevilla away is not end of the world, and the draw at Camp Nou could be counted as a bonus, but Alaves, Leganes, losing vs Real Sociedad and outplayed by Real Madrid at home is big underachievements, and have probably caused them their chances for the title race. They may buckle up, and improve - but I can't see real (or barca) drop as many points, to make atletico a third title contender.

It's such a shame we can't use both Luka and Mateo in our NT given quality in Madrid team is far more superior. We can't use them the same way Zidane uses them.

Not fully over the line.

You might be right here.

Anyway, it's close to impossible to win the league with the refereeing in Spain, but we just might do it this season.

Yesterday Malaga game was a disgrace. First red card was too much, then the ref gave 4 minutes of stoppage time, but decided to let the game go on for additional 4 minutes to make it 8 minutes all together. Added a second red in the minute 97.
It's going to be more of the same when Barca play bad. Sending offs and games running much longer then they should. They play at Anoeta next weekend, so that should be fun to watch!

Lucho is such an awful manager. Zidane is young and lacks experience, but he's pragmatic. This guy, he's so inept when it comes to tactics it's actually remarkable that he was given the chance to manage Barca. I really think that when Messi and Iniesta are done, Barca will go back to their old ways. The rest of the team and specially their manager can thank those two for showing them what top of the world feels like.

You should be able to, especially given how versatile Mateo is. They are both splendid players to have.

Sure talk about red cards and stoppage time when the ref didn't award them a deserved penalty that would have helped them far more than anything else :wenger:

Are you Redondo's brother?

The penalty Real were awarded yesterday was a joke. As mentioned above clear pens denied for Barcelona yesterday, one on Pique which would have been a pen and a red card. Yes the first Malaga red card was a disgrace, but we don't know the reason for the second as the new rules came into play about swearing etc at the ref.

As for the additional time, if you understand the laws of the game, it's a 'minimum' of 4 additional minutes. There was an injury during those 4 minutes another sub and a red card. The game actually ended on 97 minutes 24 seconds. Corner was awarded at 96 minutes 27 secs, then the red card occurred. Effectively was 2 mins 30 seconds additional time and as mentioned sub by Malaga and injury. Not a single thing wrong about it unless your biased....

What the culés here think about Alcácer?.
I read (not too reliable press) that the bosses in dressing room(Suárez and Messi) think that he is not good enough.
They think that the club should have kept Munir, who was used to the play style and systems, instead spending 30 m€ in him, money that could have been used to inflate more their renewals.
Yesterday he was 31 minutes(in the first half) without touching the ball

It was a weird transfer from the start. Most of my cule friends were against it before it happened. When you think about it they had some really bad transfers in last few years (players that are not good enough or just don't fit their style).

Turan - not a good fit
Alcacer - probably the same
Vidal - didn't play much, but he was a winger in Sevilla so it's no wonder if he can't cut it as a fb
Gomes - good with the ball, but he's so slow. A midfield of Busquets, Gomes and Rakitic is not going to be good enough to keep them at this level if that's the plan.

If you compare this Barca squad with Madrid (age, talent) we seem to be in the better position. Add academy and loan players into the equation and it looks even better for Madrid (Llorente, Vallejo). If they manage to patch it up with clever transfer policy in next few transfer windows good for them, but if they don't, we just have to take advantage and win a few league titles for a change. We have the squad depth and the talent on the rise at the moment. There's nothing there to stop this team going all the way, not even a transfer ban. The only thing to stop the team is Perez insisting on playing BBC whenever they are healthy.

I'm a massive Paco fan, but always felt this was a horrendous move for the kid.

Really going to hurt his development, believe he has the talent to be a top player for club and country, but not at Barca due to MSN.
