6 subs, a pen and 3 yellows and only 2 mins of injury time.

Wonder what the conspiracy boys Redondo and Gaucho will be saying about that...

Madrid were so so bad. Very lucky to be coming away with three points.

In fairness, the ref couldn't probably wait to get some shelter from that heavy rain.

Great penalty for Real after a Lucas dive. In other news, Real are dominated on Bernabeu by Gijon, and playing on the counter. Nice goal from Ronaldo though (2nd one), completely fooled the defender there, with a classic no9 move.
Meh, defender was stupid, lucas definitely dived into him to make contact, but it's really up to the ref in this, there's no wrong decision. Also? live was a stonewall penalty. Horrible defending on cristiano's second goal. Like, not even know the basics of playing CB(not that there's any CB left in the world who knows how to mark his man, mind.)

Agree the 2 min of stoppage time were a joke, in what was otherwise a surpirsingly competent performance by one of the worst refs in Spain.

All in all, we played like shit(and zidane was baffling), but we won and tomorrow barcelona will lose at anoeta which means we'll go into the clasico 7 points clear. I'll take it

Lucas dived before there was any contact with the defender. Therefore it's a dive for me. And I'm not saying that because I support Barca (Neymar also fabricates contacts when defenders give him the chance to do so, as Ronaldo, Robben and plenty others as well). It's not acceptable. There is a clear intention there from Lucas to obtain a penalty, and he just fools the ref making him think he was fouled, when he really wasn't.

Sevilla v Valencia now..

Sevilla could go 2nd if they win this; Valencia a mere 2 pts above the drop so they'll feel they need something from this.
How they could do with Piatti now, currently one of the most in-form players in La Liga at Espanyol (on loan from Valencia, the irony). 5 goals and 7 assists in 10 games for him so far.

Commentator said Valencia haven't kept a clean sheet this season. They have a bunch of problems but it's easy to where to start for them.

Why is Vietto preferred above Ben Yedder?

Vietto is Griezmann lite, a good all-rounder and capable of becoming a devastating player (as he showed in his debut season at Villarreal). Ben Yedder is the more proven goalscorer but perhaps doesn't yet fit so well with Sampaoli's vision for the team. Vietto's come off a difficult season and has been very hit and miss so far, but I hope he can turn it around.

Brilliant finish from the sub Munir... excellent through ball by Cancelo to set it up, 1-1

Pareja with a very similar goal as the one he scored against Juve in mid-week. 2-1 Sevilla

 Incredible save from Sergio Rico as the final moment of the game to give Sevilla the 3pts.

Villarreal have just lost 0-2 to Alaves. Musacchio didn't have a good day - just thought I'd mention that for any January window shoppers.

Are Barca not using the Messi lob pass > Neymar tactic anymore? Worked pretty damn well in 14/15.

Defender sticks his leg in lucas's path. Lucas has no obligation to try and avoid the contact. Yes, he dives into it, but it's still the defender's fault. It happens at high speed and at very close distance, lucas isn't throwing his leg out unnaturally to generate contact. He begins falling before the contact is made, but the contact still happens and is entirely the defenders fault. The only reason i say this was a 50/50 situation is that lucas dives before the contact. If he didn't, he'd still have made contact with the defender and it would have been a stonewall penalty. And again, until the instant replay tech is introduced officially, it's the live impression you have to judge. Ref doesn't get the benefit of the replay

The way I see it, Lucas diving before the contact is made makes this a dive and not a penalty according to the rules. Ref doesn't get the benefit of the replay, but the spectator does, and after seeing the replay from up close, it is a "great" dive that seems a penalty live.

I think they will, unfortunately.

If Messi can give another performance like he did in Seville maybe... don't see who else it's gonna come from. Suárez has been in woeful form and Neymar seems afraid to take a shot.

La Real have completely pinned Barça back.. amazing pressing, already gone close to scoring twice as well. Barça barely able to complete a pass inside the opposite half.

And another headed chance that could/should've been a goal... Barça getting shredded by La Real's wide players.

edit: and another chance. Vela narrowly wide after being forced away from goal a little bit.

Business as usual at the Anoeta for Barça. :D

Alba looks fecked.

Pique injured.

It's tactics. They can't put the pressure on the ref by crowding him because they can't get themselves in a position where La Real players will foul them. This is a brand new strategy they're going with.

Having said that, La Real will get tired and Barca will up their game in the second half and it could be the Sevilla game all over again.

If Barcelona lose today Real Madrid can basically win the league next weekend if they win the Clasico.
