La Liga - 2014/15

Anyone have a gif of the foul for the penalty?

The Spanish league is quickly turning more and more into a tinpot league, standard of defending is absoloutely woeful.

I switched over into the aftermath of Ronaldo converting the penalty - sounded like the commentators thought it was a penalty, did I hear that right? Or are they just blinded by love for Madrid/Ronaldo?

Gerry Armstrong doesn't have a clue what's going on most of the time.

"I think he clipped his heels" when there was no contact and everyone saw he was exaggerating the defenders hand on his shirt.

Gonna bet my whole weeks wages on Madrid to win this as they're 1-0 up. Ill only win about 22 quid though

How can he get so many penalties? I read today he has scored 7 penalties this season, 8 if you count today.
He already has the highest penalties in La Liga in less than 5 years. 46 penalties so far in la liga, now more than Hugo Sanchez.

That was my take on it also - no way you could argue that was a penalty

How many of them have been cheap, please do tell?
As jojojo said, that one, two against Elche, one against Ludogorets, and perhaps a couple more. I didn't watch the games against Levante and Eibar, so I don't know if they were correctly given or not. Though it's pretty obvious, even for a neutral viewer, that RM have a tendency to get more penalites than any other team.

Ronaldo dives for pens, there's no denying about that. Messi isn't a saint either. He scored with a hand several years ago

I wouldn't really have the time to go over every single penalty given to Madrid since Ronaldo's arrived at the club. Not all of them would have been correct penalties obviously. I think it's a testament to the Madrid's fast-paced, counter-attacking style that they are awarded so many as they often have defenders isolated against pacey players running at them. Whereas in comparison, other teams in La Liga have a slower and more pragmatic build-up which stops at the oppositions box. Well, either that or we are buying the refs. Probably the latter.

Comeon, this is ridiculous. He already got 2 similar penalties this season itself, one against Elche another against Ludogorets. He even dived against Liverpool.

I am not putting others, you can easily google them.

I hope he gets a proper dive penalty against Barca someday.

Nobody would dispute that. It is the cheap bit that I fell needs to be explained more. I am sure you would agree that it is a bold claim. Surely as a United fan you could understand why someone would ask for an explanation in such a situation as United fans have had to do the same for years in regards to complaints from Liverpool, Chelsea, City and Arsenal fans concerning referee decisions.

You are changing the subject. Nobody disputes that Ronaldo dives (however as a Barcelona fan you do not really have a leg to stand on when it comes to arguing about diving). You have not disputed any of my points in regards to why Madrid receive so much penalties and have begun to discuss Ronaldo (even mentioning a dive against Liverpool which he did not receive a penalty for).

True enough and there are a fair number of fouls not called as well. But tonight's was a (well timed, defender movement anticipating) dive, which seemed rather petty (for want of a better word) in the first half of a match against a minnow. So it will stick in the memory and get replayed after every legit or uncalled penalty for a while.
