La Liga - 2014/15

Thanks guys. Commiserations to Madrid and their fans. @carvajal , @Vato , @Raul Madrid and to Ronaldo/Madrid fans @Cal and @SirAF
Congratulations on Barcelona winning La Liga, they deserved it. It is funny when you think of all the criticism that Enrique was receiving at the start of the season. He was being criticised despite his team consistently picking up results and staying very close behind Madrid. He made sure his team were still in the race and in the second half of the season, his team went up a few gears and began playing at an extremely high level on a regular basis and Madrid could just not keep up with it.

What a great gesture. Valencia player names written in nepali/hindi in support of the earthquake victims in Nepal. Class act.

Matchday 38 - May 23: Barca get a trophy, the rest get nervous
La Liga this weekend, plays on Saturday.

Levante-Elche (16:30 all times Spain so this is 3:30 UK))
Almería-Valencia (18:30 Spain, 5:30pm UK)
Athletic-Villarreal (18:30)
Celta-Espanyol (18:30)
Eibar-Córdoba (18:30)
Barcelona-Deportivo (18:30)
Granada-Atlético (18:30)
Málaga-Sevilla (18:30)
Rayo-Real Sociedad (18:30)
Real Madrid-Getafe (20:30)

The early and late games are, of course, the nothing to play for games. The main interest at the Bernabeu will be trying to guess who is saying goodbye.

Meanwhile though:
Atletico 77
Valencia 74
Sevilla 73
are fighting for the CL places. A win for Valencia and a loss for Atletico will see Valencia get third (on head to head), a draw/defeat for Valencia could see them miss the CL (and yes, Sevilla have another shot at CL qualification via the Europa).

So Almeria and Granada are up against opponents who haven't gone on holiday yet. Deportivo are up against a Barca in exceptional form. Eibar are playing already relegated Cordoba. Down at the bottom of the table:
Granada 34
Deportivo 34
Eibar 32
Almeria 32
Cordoba 20
and a head to head that takes a Marca graphic to unravel

I hope Marca have that right because I'm not going to try and work it out.

Eibar should really stay up. Very unlikely that neither Atlético and Barca will win and they really should beat Cordoba at home.

How unlucky though. Three of the four teams fighting relegation are playing against the 1st, 3rd and 4th placed team. Atlético probably needs a point because Valencia can level them and they lead on H2H.

Crazy that Valencia could finish 3rd, 4th or 5th depending how results go.

"What is he doing up there, the left sided centre half?" - Gerry Armstrong.

The mug doesn't even realise he's playing left back tonight.

Then the main commentator says Vermaelen crosses it when it's clearly Mathieu

Messi scores.

Great 'Roberto Carlos' type freekick from Thomas to put Almeria in front against Valencia.

Looks like it was rules offside, very close decision but just looked on to me. Fantastic pass from Neymar too, inch perfect.

That double save from Deportivo's keeper was absolutely fantastic. Up there with the best saves I've seen this season.

Great applause for Iraola, playing his last game for Bilbao today.
