La Liga - 2014/15

He's dropping too deep, and play is moving away from him. That's what I mean. If you're struggling you look to your best player to get you back in the game/grab an important goal/create something. Instead it's slow and ponderdous, get it out wide, cross and hope for the best.

Real Madrid build their side around Ronaldo for a reason, see last night. Barcelona don't seem to be interested in doing it with their best player in a far less talented side these days.
Yeah Real can always get the best of Ronaldo with their quick wingers. Plus he can get on the end if headers. Barca just can't cross so its either to feet or get in behind but your right hes too deep so no - one getting in behind.

Tines like this I don't understand why they dont have a plan B I.e a target man.

Sandro was a coward there, has to grow a pair and take that on himself.

Messi trying to get him sent off there. Should have been though, I guess.

Haven't seen Messi go down like that since one of the Mourinho clásico's and before that in his younger days

Can someone tell me how Messi is better than Ronaldo at the moment?

Well for one, we saw what happens to Ronaldo when he needs to do a lot more than tap-ins, headers and penalty (world cup). And apart from tough matches like Athletico, you can say he is better in scoring hatricks against minnows.

At least he does something, right?

3 added mins, haha absolute joke theres been so many stoppages. This is why the prem wins over la liga. Everything is done much more professional..

Well, that was boring.

Positive for Barcelona: another clean sheet, 6 out of 6 for them now!

Negatives: everything else.

Sevilla joint top with Barcelona now, Valencia can join them tomorrow.

Barca should have went for a top class coach instead of gambling on Enrique (who has done nothing to merit it) in the hope it would be another Guardiola.

Brings on two 19 year olds with bugger all experience to try and unlock a packed defence.

It's too early to be drawing too many conclusions I reckon. Terrible game but still 5 wins and 1 draw from 6, hardly time to write off Luis Enrique...

I haven't been impressed with them at all this season. First big test, a big fat failure. If I was a betting man I'd say they'll win nothing for the second year running.

They're still 4 points ahead of Real? WTF lol.

Be nice to see Luis Enrique grow a pair and drop half that team. Busquets and Iniesta should be the first two, put Mascherano and Xavi in there for the next few games, at least Xavi can keep the ball, Mascherano wouldn't let the opposition get into so many goal scoring positions like Busquets does.

I don't think they've been sparkling either to be honest, just saying that writing off any manager so early is premature.

Well give Messi a knee injury, rush him back and then put him in that Portugal team whilst half fit (if that) and ask him to do something, anything.

Same result I'd imagine.

That was a boring and uninspiring game but I think some are being too knee-jerk here. Barca have been pretty good this season and are unbeaten so far with 0 goals conceded in 6 games. They could have used with a bit more dynamism and heart in the game esp the final third. Well they do have the rabid Suarez coming in soon don't they? Barca certainly look better than under the Martino reign on the basis of the 6 games so far unless you want to judge Enrique's reign with just this one game in isolation. They are certainly going through a significant transition with the change of manager, Valdes and Puyol leaving/retiring, Xavi and Pique having lesser roles etc. So you can't really expect THE Barcelona every game and you will have a few games where they are stale and uninspiring where they could rely on individual brilliance from Messi, Neymar, Iniesta or Suarez to bail them. Which clearly goes against the collective cohesive Barca that we are so used to seeing. Pretty sure Enrique would be pleased with the excellent start Barca have made so far though.

Douglas looks a bit meh and looks more like a signing in the mould of a Keirrison or Hernrique. Clearly has some act to follow in Dani Alves and we will have to see if he can come good or not but early signs aren't looking too positive.

Enrique giving Neymar the Pep/Ibra treatment

I hate the little cnut, but he is getting like 50 minutes a game, despite being arguably MOTM the 2 games before this one

What a dull game that was last night, There just seems to be something missing from Barcelona at the moment, a bit of spark, Whether that will return once Suarez returns im not sure, The interesting thing with them is that unlike previous years things just aren't flowing through Iniesta and Messi and because of that there seems to be a serious lack of invention. The worry for them is that with the Transfer ban now in place that they cannot address this if the situation hasn't changed in the next few months

fecking hell. Anyone watching the Valencia game? Paco Alcácer just scored an incredible header, 4 goals in his last 4 now, turning into some striker.

Decent finish by Gayà now too, who's also turning into a great player (only 19/20 I think).

Valencia are great to watch for a change.

Feghouli gets in on the act. 3-0 Valencia, who go top on goal difference (I think? Tied at least).

I watched the Atletico vs Almeria game and like in all other matches I've seen them this season, Atleti are really struggling to get goals but they are the masters of grinding out a 1-0.

Koke wont get the hype that Pogba gets as he's not as flashy or athletically pleasing, but I love the way he competes and the effortless way he creates a little bit of space for himself to play an important pass in the build up. I also thought Saul Niguez looked quite good in the second half as well.

With Valencia having new owners now, will they become less of a selling club and hold on to their promising players? It's a pity how they lost the likes of Mata, Silva and Alba in recent years due to financial problems. If not you can see Alcacer leaving soon, didn't this guy get a call-up to the Spain squad for the last international break.

They still don't have new owners. Bankia keep adding new clauses to the Lim deal. So many new clauses that Valencia fans are starting to question whether this is a deliberate action by Bankia bosses and some local politicians/businessmen to force the club into bankruptcy, allowing some people to pick it up cheap. They actually had a demonstration about it before the match last night.

Valencia's president is still insisting the deal will go through "any day now" but he's been saying that since June.

I put the background in:
