La Liga - 2014/15

Wow they really could have done with Falcao. They also seem to play a lot more pretty passes around the box with no one able to take on a man. Di Maria's good at that..

Oh well their loss, our gain.

James looks completely out of place so far. Kroos on the other hand looks ace so far and I actually like this new less selfish Ronaldo a lot together with Kroos he is Reals best player on the pitch right now I feel.

What has happened to Ronaldo? I mean I know he creates chances for others despite some ppl thinking he only scores goals and does nothing else, but today he is on another level. Plus he reminds me today of the Ronaldo from 2006/07, very exciting to watch.

Having said this, wake up Atletico

They're rarely ever without him, and Di Maria was alot more important than he was last season. Bale plays better without him and the goals are more shared about, you're discrediting the rest of the side here. He's their best player, but he doesn't carry them.

Di Maria was their best player for about three months, three crucial months while Ronaldo was in and out of the side with injury. Bale scored in the Copa del Rey final without Ronaldo, but his performances are about the same whether Ronaldo plays or not. Whereas Madrid's performances are better when (an uninjured) Ronaldo plays.

Maybe after realizing that Perez has now sold the two best chance creaters at the club in two years in a row he wants to fill that role himself in hopes that Perez will sell him to us at the end of the season.

Well that's some world class inventive muppetry there, I like it!

Ronaldo was their best player from October to December, that's where he wrapped the Ballon d'Or up. Isco was better than him throughout September, after that he was in and out the side as you say, and yes, with Ronaldo Madrid are better... you expect that though. Take your best player out the side and they suffer, doesn't mean they carry the team though, it's BS.

I think this is the best I saw Ronaldo playing in years.
11/12 was his best all-round season imo. He scored lots of goals and set up a lot too and his decision making improved big time and he was also much less selfish (even non-Madrid fans I watch the games with said that about him). He was also very decisive in Madrid winning the league and scored in a lot of the big matches that year too. He was excellent that year and when the going got tough and Madrid were up against it he always turned up and made himself count (especially in march and april when every game was a must win as barca had gotten closer to Madrid at the top due to Madrid dropping points). I remember Madrid struggling away vs atletico that year in a must win game before playing barca the following week and Ronaldo scored a hattrick and then he went on to score the winner against barca following that. Definitely his best season imo and the one he matured the most as a player in. For me it was the season he finally proved that he was a big game player without any doubts as before it was something he was criticised a lot about.

Just me who thought it was a dive then? Contact sure, but complete piss take fall.

I was talking just about one game, I haven't seen him being this useful in a long time. Usually he isn't really invoolved in the build up and he's the one who is finishing the attacks, but today he is involved in everything.

For the penalty? Nah. Ronaldo invited the foul and Siqueira delivered the foul.

Yeah the penalty. I know that's what happened but the contact didn't stop Cristiano at all, he stopped himself with the dramatic tumble.

Atléti are missing Diego Costa in open play... all 3 of their league goals so far from set-pieces.

Yup. A lot of great performances from him have been vs atletico over the years.

Actually I would say that Atléti together with Valencia are among his toughest opponents in La Liga... his scoring record is also noticeably worse against these two than most other sides apart from Barça. Sevilla are his favourite "victim" by far.

That was his 14th goal against Atléti and also the 7th (!!) penalty he's scored against them. (in 17 apps). In fairness, at least he won it himself this time.

Didn't he get two in one game against them last season? That's quite a stat actually.

I am not just talking about goals. There has been games where has been man of the match vs them and his performance elevated the team. Away in 11/12 and at home in 12/13 he was excellent vs them. I would definitely not say they are an opponent he dreads playing, unlike Barcelona until 11/12.

I'd take a 5-4 to Atletico with Chicha grabbing a hattrick!

Chicharito is admittedly a limited player, but for all his limitations, if he plays all real madrid games instead of benzema this season, he'll score more.

Never seen Ronaldo playing ala winger at Madrid like he is today

I wonder if he is doing so under instructions from Carlo
