La Liga - 2014/15

Stupid Siqueira must still think he is at Benfica, where he could hack it all time in the box.

Like a text book case of a penalty. Simple trick, quickly executed. Defender positioned awkwardly, sticks his leg out.

Looked like a soft penalty. Yes, there was contact, but was it enough to warrant a pen?

When was the last time Ronaldo missed a penalty? He used to be great at them but the last few years I feel like he's perfect at them. Never see him miss anymore.

Turan been dropped or something? I'm sure he's been on the bench for the last few matches, so can't be an injury. Surprised Griezmann is on there too. Atletico have strength in depth it seems.

He's been injured, I think he's effectively in his pre-season.

If you have done this trick yourself and gone past a player in the same manner you would know first hand. The moment Ronaldo is going past the defender he shifts gears and changes direction. Takes less to take a man down when he's positioned like that.

A lesser touch than that would still have been a penalty. Very clear cut for me.

Godin has been pretty calm for an uruguyan. I reckon he will probably have his little revenge on Ronaldo sooner or later.

I think people underestimate how much ronaldo carries Madrid

Rubbish. Is this based off of the last game they played... when they should have been five goals up before half time.

I really don't get the whole thing with Casillas.

He was an absolute disaster in the world cup and the UCL final and has been a bit of a disaster for about 2 seasons now.

He gets rewarded by retaining his place in the Spanish team and regaining his place in the Madrid lineup.

Ronaldo being less selfish the older he gets. Would have been better off to have a go himself though instead of relying on Benzema in that situation

Great play by Ronaldo though, it has to be said. Pity benzema could not make the most of it.

Nope this is based on the fact that Madrid's record without him isn't good.

They're rarely ever without him, and Di Maria was alot more important than he was last season. Bale plays better without him and the goals are more shared about, you're discrediting the rest of the side here. He's their best player, but he doesn't carry them.

Simply a case of not giving up on someone. Captain for club and country all these years. They're not ready to let go.

Poor decisionmaking trying to play Benzema in. Sell Ronaldo, sack Ancelotti

I think this is the best I saw Ronaldo playing in years.

Raul Jimenez doesn't seem ready to be starting in a game of this magnitude.

Griezmann would have pulled away from the defence if he had that chance. Atletico players getting booked for everything.

Lol Di Maria was one of their most influential but Ronaldo was still their best player. Regardless if they aren't without him much the fact is their results without him are significantly less. He doesn't even need to play that well but him being on the pitch lifts everyone.
